There's no doubt that Finneas is a great producer. He's famously recorded a lot of his sister, Billie Eilish's music, in a bedroom studio, and it sounds amazing. He's self-taught, and seems to design his productions around his personal instincts and taste, and not the latest fads or complicated techniques.

In this interview, Finneas breaks it down and plays some individual tracks from his own record, and reveals how he often uses the stock plug-ins found in Logic. Okay, he does mention one piece of outboard gear that he uses quite a bit, but you'll have to watch to find out what it is! He also gives specifics on which vocal mics he uses for himself and Billie. Did you know that she sang "Ocean Eyes" into the humble AT2020, just like we use on TAXI TV?

This short interview segment proves that good taste, a simple approach, and a minimum amount of recording gear can make a great record. It's the ear, not the gear, and it seems Finneas agrees. We loved this interview, and we think you will as well!
