Dear TAXI,

I have belonged to TAXI for about a year and a half and have had a few songs forwarded, but I had something new happen a few weeks ago. One of the critiques I received stated they loved a song and really wanted to forward it, but because a couple of other songs I had submitted for the same listing did not "knock them out" they could not forward the one they liked.

I thought every song submitted was judged by it's own merit, not the grouping of songs submitted.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Dear Marvin,

For "song" pitches, i.e. listings that are requesting songs for another artist to record or for a film or TV project-you are right, each song is judged on it's own merits, regardless of other songs which may have been submitted along with it.

On the other hand, for "artist" pitches-that is, listings looking for artists who perform their own material-consistent strength of material is a key factor in determining the artist's overall depth and an indicator of career longevity.

Dear TAXI,

I've been a member for a number of years. However it has been somewhat of the pain in the neck to submit songs, what with the whole "Burrito" thing. This is the main reason for my low submission rate. But guess what? I just joined Broadjam. There is a God! This is the best thing I've done in a long time. I will now become a submitting fool.

Thank you.. thank you very much..

As of this writing we are still recovering from Road Rally 2003-our seventh event. We'll be including plenty of photos and letters in next month's issue, but here's a letter that just came in:

Dear TAXI,

My name is Volton Wright a singer/songwriter who just attended Road Rally for the first time.

I have to admit, this was a life-changing experience. I've gained so much respect for you guys after meeting most of you personally. You are some of the coolest cats on Earth. When my co-writer and I were greeted by Michael, we were totally impressed with his humility and warmth toward us.

Man, you guys are the best. My co-writer, Eric Crawford, and I will be back next year.

Your brothers in the spirit of music,

Volton Wright and Eric Crawford
