ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS with some R&B Influence and Female Vocals are needed by a Major Label A&R Executive for a MULTI-Platinum Artist. They’re looking for soulfully expressive songs that are Down-to-Mid Tempo, and could generally fit in the stylistic wheelhouse of these references:

“Cranes In The Sky” by Solange: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0qrinhNnOM

“Breathing Underwater” by Emile Sande: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye-3d2QCz2o

    “All Night” by Beyonce: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM89Q5Eng_M

Please submit songs that are well-structured from start to finish, with innovative, contemporary melodies, compelling hooks (both lyrically and melodically), and a chorus that can emotionally connect with fans of this genre. You’d be wise to have a really great vocal performance on your recording to help sell the artist and label on cutting your song. Your production should be competitive for this pitch. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, April 1st, 2017. TAXI #Y170401AC

    Christmas / Holiday

    Return to List of Categories

ORIGINAL, CHRISTMAS SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a very active and fast-growing Music Library for a (up to) $500, NON-Exclusive placement in an Independent Feature Film. This Music Library needs great, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs (Vintage or Contemporary productions can both work) that are in the general stylistic range of these references we got from them: “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXQViqx6GMY

“Baby It's Cold Outside” by Neptune's Daughter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MFJ7ie_Ygu

“Jingle Bell Rock” by Glee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfLf7A_-1Vw

Please submit original, festive, Christmas songs that would get listeners in the spirit of the holiday season. Your submission should have great melodies, a strong chorus, and current sounding production. Having a solid vocal performance could also help you with nailing this pitch!

Lyric themes can vary, but should be consistent with themes commonly heard in current Christmas music. Non-Religious lyrics will probably work best in this context. Fun, festive, warm, family-ish themes are all good ideas. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee is between $250 and $500, depending on the ultimate placement. This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You’ll split all upfront sync fees 50/50. Country

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a very active Boutique Music Library that’s been pitching music for a quickly growing list of hit shows on Network and Cable TV. Please submit Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that you’d hear on the same playlist as artists like: Hank Williams Jr., Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, etc., etc., etc. Please review the following references to get a general idea of the type of songs he needs:

“Country Boys Can Survive” by Hank Williams, Jr.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cQNkIrg-Tk

“As Good As I Once Was” by Toby Keith: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldQrapQ4d0Y

“Ol' Red” by Blake Shelton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asxrMSVrJ08

Please submit Songs that have a well-developed melodic structure, big commercial hooks, and a chorus that’s instantly engaging. Your submission should contain lots of visual imagery, with a super strong storyline that draws the audience in and holds their attention. Your music production should be top-notch, with instrumentation that’s commonly used in contemporary Country music.

Lyrics themes can vary, but should be expertly-crafted, and in the range of what you’d typically hear in this genre. You’d be smart to give them universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, places, times, dates, brands, and profanity. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company offers both EXCLUSIVE and NON-EXCLUSIVE deals. The specific deal points will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you’re inclined to do an Exclusive deal, please don’t submit material for this pitch that’s already signed with any other libraries or publishers. You need to own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, March 27th, 2017. TAXI #Y170327CC

NEW LISTING -- EDGEY ALT-COUNTRY ARTISTS or BANDS (Male, Female, or Duets) are needed by the President of a super successful Nashville-based Indie Record Label that makes hits and breaks new artists. This company frequently colors outside the lines, and they’re well-known for taking chances on acts that other labels are afraid to sign! Please don’t take that to mean that they’ll take mediocre material. They’re picky, but they really get behind the acts they sign !

They’re looking for something or somebody that’s got a lot of “cool” going on. They didn’t give us parameters, other than asking us to “Find [them] new artists who push the envelope with killer songs, a really identifiable vocal sound, and the kind of cool that’s hard to describe, but you know it when you hear it.”

They’re not looking for straight up, right down-the-center lane Country artists. They’ll get excited if you’re combining Country with other genres like Rock, Indie Singer/Songwriter, Hip Hop, Pop, or Americana, and sticking big old hooks right in the middle of your unforgettable chorus. Mid-to-Up-Tempo songs will work best, especially if listeners can smell the sweat, feel the pride, or hurt from the heartbreak while singing along at the top of their lungs. These guys are looking for Country’s next big sound, and the artist or band that can deliver it to the heartland.

We’re not giving any reference artists or songs for this request because they’re looking for “What hasn’t been done yet, but will influence those who follow.” Because of the unusual nature of this Listing, we’re asking our A&R staff to judge this by asking these questions when they’ve finished listening: “Do I have a burning desire to listen to it again,” and “Is this totally different, but still commercial enough to get Country radio stations to play it?”

If the vocal is a little pitchy in all the right places, the guitar strings sound rusty, and the electric guitar is on the cusp of feeding back, you might have the right thing. If your harmonies sound like the Eagles on top of some dirty Hip Hop beats backed by a twangy guitar, you’ll probably get their attention. If you’re so “Indie” that Johnny Cash would beg to record with you, then you could be perfect for this label!

The bar is high for this Listing. Remember, they’re looking for the next big thing, not the last thing!

If you’re selling out shows, getting tons of streams, or lighting up Youtube, make sure those numbers/stats are included your bio! Include a photo that makes you look as cool as your music sounds, and please make sure to include lyrics with your submission! Submit three songs online or CD, and include photo and bio. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis, with no full critiques and must be received no later than Monday, May 1st, 2017. TAXI #Y170501CO

CONTEMPORARY ELECTRONIC DANCE SONGS (aka EDM) with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Major, NON-Exclusive European Media Company for In-Store background music plays. They’re looking for modern, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would fit on a playlist with artists like (but not limited to):

“Thinking About You” by Calvin Harris ft. Ayah Marar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl3b7dDBLpo

“Wake Me Up” by Avicii: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcrbM1l_BoI

“Where Are U Now” by Skrillex and Diplo with Justin Bieber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nntGTK2Fhb0

Give them rhythmically and melodically expressive songs that sound like a true EDM cut, with plenty of great big builds, infectious beats, and a really compelling vocal performance. Your songs should use fresh Electronic sounds and production techniques with tons of catchy ear-candy from top to bottom. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

NOTE: This company also pitches music for film, TV, and Commercials, and it’s not uncommon for them to offer and sign deals with the composers and artists they find while hunting for the in-store music!

NOTE 2: Please include a bio and photo with your submissions, as this company often may use them on their website or other promotional media.

Quoting the Company: “Performance Royalties will be paid by the media company, and at a ‘WAY HIGHER RATE’ than what is paid by conventional Performing Rights Organizations.”

This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE Deal, so you will keep 100% of all Composition and Master Rights. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Your production should contain modern Electronic characteristics incorporated with some with live instrumentation like funky bass lines and cool electric guitar riffs. TRADITIONAL KOREAN SONGS are needed by a successful Non-Exclusive Boutique Music Library. They want authentic sounding Korean Songs in All Tempos that are in the stylistic wheelhouse of the references below:

Arirang - Korean Folk Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f99tZQ8XtGM

“Onara” by Ost Dae Jang Geum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4H-Qrd1Gtq

    “Subaru” by Tanimura Shinji: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bzs_iq9bkI

Give them traditional sounding songs that are in the general ballpark of the references. Authenticity in the sounds, instrumentation, performances, and style are all very important for this pitch. Songs with sounds that are obviously MIDI-driven won’t work. Korean lyrics and vocals are needed for this pitch. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

RE-IMAGINED TRAILER-STYLE COVER SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by an International Music Library that offers a Composer/Artist-friendly deal and specializes in a wide range of Trailer Music. Please listen to the following examples to get an idea of the range of music that could work for this pitch:

Note: This Company ran a few listings with TAXI early last year, which resulted in adding several writers to their roster.

Logan "Grace" Trailer Music Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrHyzuZdNd8

“Enjoy The Silence” by KI Theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_1-oylPHjs

    Silent Running- Hidden Citizens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rte4ZMouLNU

Quoting the company: “We're getting strong interest from the ad agencies [that do Film Trailers] for more Cover Songs -- more than we can produce! It's not necessary to use all lines and lyrics from a song, but it’s very wise to retain the key lyrics and the overall melody. It could be as simple as using one key line from a verse and then a repeated chorus. The energy of the vocal performance and the arrangement should grow stronger through the song, ending with a minimum 30-second climax section.”

Additional info from the company: “Covering older hits is better than covering newer songs. The newer songs from charting artists will prove difficult, if not impossible to gain approval from the publisher/artist.”

Please submit re-imagined Cover Versions of familiar songs that would lend themselves well to this relatively new style of music often heard in Film Trailers. One approach is to take an “old-ish” up-tempo hit (from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, for example), and do an ethereal, slowed-down version with haunting vocals, and a big, dramatic chorus section.

Think about flipping things on their heads! Take a Rock song and do a Country Version. Take a Country Song and try a Hip Hop version. Get creative, but stick with the original melody so the songs remain recognizable, even in their cool, new form! Versions that add drama and build as they go will work well. If you create something light and “feel-good” for a indie love story-type of Trailer, go for a big, heartwarming climax at the end.

Trailers are almost always in three acts, so starting out sparsely in the first third, build it up in the second third, and bring it all to a dramatic (or heartwarming) climax in the last section of your cover, and you’ll make it very useable.

TAXI Tip: Your productions can range from stripped-down versions that might only be a guitar/vocal, piano/vocal, ukulele/vocal, or a band-sized ensemble, or even a full orchestral version. You should go into this thinking, “What could I do with this song that would make it sound totally different than the original version, and make it sound really cool for those trendy new Film Trailers I see/hear these days.”

Your songs should be full-length, in the 3 to 4 minute ballpark. Non-Faded/Buttoned endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a very general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. But do NOT limit yourself to just those examples!!! Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers an Exclusive deal. You’ll split all upfront sync fees 60/40 (60% goes to the Artist/Writer/Producer). You must own or control your Master recording to pitch for this. Please submit 1-3 Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, April 8th, 2017. TAXI #S170408TS

VINTAGE FRENCH “CHANSON” STYLE INSTRUMENTALS Recorded in the 1960s or before are needed by an A-List Music Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing opportunities. If you’ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with the references they gave us, or anything that would have been a playlist with those acts, you might have exactly what this awesome publisher needs:

NOTE: The examples below have vocals, but the company is looking for INSTRUMENTALS for this request.

Dans le Port d Amsterdam Jacques Brel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2kkr0e_dTQ

“La Valse a Mille Temps” by Jacques Brel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK5X_Mb9daM

“Ne Me Quitte Pas” by Jacques Brel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2wmKcBm4Ik

You can submit old masters or demos for this pitch. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings! They’re much more interested finding music that sounds authentic to the time period!

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that is authentically from a particular time period. The Publisher pays you upfront for the master rights and the Publisher’s share of the copyright, and you keep the Writer’s Share of the publishing and earn income from performance royalties paid by your Performing Rights Organization.

This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market!

Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, April 9th, 2017. TAXI #Y170409FI

All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Thursday, April 13th, 2017. TAXI #S170413SR

Songs should be well-crafted, with great melodies, have a big anthemic, in-your-face chorus, and authentic sounding Rock band instrumentation. The more believable your overall performance sounds, the better your chances are of landing this pitch!

They’re looking for lyric themes about partying, fighting against the odds, not gonna take it, and rebellion. The usual Punk stuff ;-) Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a very broad and general guide for the range of possible tempos, textures, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit one to three Instrumental Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017. TAXI #Y170419TP

NEW LISTING -- INDIE SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a successful Music Library that’s always out there hustling to get placements. They’re looking for moody, introspective, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that you could hear on a playlist with acts like (but not limited to), Agnes Obel, Keaton Henson, Kevin Garrett, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references they gave us to get an idea of the style and vibe they need:

    “Familiar” by Agnes Obel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32kYH6XZrIo

“No Witnesses” by Keaton Henson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0jsqPkzK2I

    “Coloring” by Kevin Garrett: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGXfP9JGbqY

Please submit really strong, compelling songs with emotionally touching melodies and captivating lyrics that have a great big, infectious chorus. Your song should be primarily acoustic based, but can have some electronic elements supporting the melody. Your vocal performance should be solid with a distinctive, Indie-style delivery. Instrumentation can be as a simple as an acoustic guitar/vocal or piano/vocal, mixed with some minimal contemporary sounding electronic elements. Introspective, thoughtful, moody lyrics should work best. Life, love, who am I, where am I going lyric themes work well for this type of pitch, but you don’t need to limit yourself to just those ideas. Please avoid sending songs with lyrics that have references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company offers both EXCLUSIVE and NON-EXCLUSIVE deals. The specific deal points will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you’re inclined to do an Exclusive deal, please do NOT submit material for this pitch that’s already signed with any other libraries or publishers. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this opportunity. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, March 26th, 2017. TAXI #Y170326IS

    CUSTOM CRITIQUES
If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.

Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.

For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.

The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
