ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by an excellent Film/TV Music Licensing Company that has a TON of awesome placements in a bunch of cool Feature Films and TV shows. They’re on the hunt for Songs that are in the general stylistic wheelhouse of these references:

Note: This is a high-end company with very few TAXI members in their catalog. If you’ve got stellar A/C Songs, this is a golden opportunity to build a relationship with an A-List company!

“One Last Song” by Sam Smith: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AXo-bYGXI4

“Water Under the Bridge” by Adele https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BBvHRB5vQE

“Say You Won't Let Go” by James Arthur: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yW7w8F2TVA

Please submit well-structured songs with super catchy melodies, well-crafted lyrics, and a great big, infectious chorus. A simple acoustic-based performance could do the trick, or you can go all out with a small ensemble or a full production, as long as the material is super strong and contemporary sounding. A compelling vocal performance that drives home the heartfelt meaning of the lyric could be the icing on the cake.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that sounds at home in this genre. Relationship-based lyrics about new love, love lost, and love going sideways are always a good bet for A/C songs, but don’t limit yourself. Fresh ideas that make sense in the world of film and TV syncs will be welcomed.

TAXI Tip: Your song shouldn’t tell the story in specifics. The TV show or film’s script will do that. Your song’s job is to underscore the emotion in the scene. How you feel, why you feel, and when you used to feel something are often good starting points.

Please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity if you’d like to increase the “usability factor” for your song!

Do not copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Songs you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018. TAXI #S180220AC

UPLIFTING, EDM INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a successful, globally distributed Music Library that has a great track record of cool placements in Films, TV shows, and TV Commercials. They’re looking for positive, Mid-to-Up Tempo Instrumentals (not cues) in the general stylistic ballpark of these references:

Although the references have vocals, this request is for Instrumentals only! Please send emotionally upbeat EDM Instrumental with a contemporary style and polished sounding production. Your submission should have awesome builds and drops, engaging melodic hooks, and tons of ear candy. Be sure your synth patches are current sounding and not dated.

All submissions should be at least 2 minutes long. Good edit points and non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Please do not copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You’ll get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Writer’s share. They’ll get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Publisher’s share. You’d be shocked by how many TAXI members have landed juicy placements with vintage recordings!!!!

This company does Exclusive and Non-Exclusive deals. The terms of the agreement will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Composition rights. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. ORIGINAL, VINTAGE CHRISTIAN & GOSPEL SONGS recorded in the 1960s -1980s with Male, Female, Duet, or Choir Vocals, are needed by a hard-working Music Licensing company that’s had lots of awesome placements in Commercials, Films, and TV Shows. We purposely passed on putting references in this request, as they could potentially be more misleading or limiting than helpful. CURRENT SOUNDING, COUNTRY/POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by an excellent Film/TV Music Licensing Company that has a TON of awesome placements in a bunch of cool Feature Films and TV shows. They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

“Next Boyfriend” by Lauren Alaina: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3zhOoDKVvs

“All On Me” by Devin Dawson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntCMoh-0ogo

“Friend Zone” by Danielle Bradbery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuCF-Rpol-A

Please submit commercially appealing, well-structured songs with contemporary melodies, ear grabbing hooks in all sections of the song (both melodically and lyrically), and a radio-ready chorus. Be sure your production has contemporary Country instrumentation with a Pop-leaning production style and sound. You’d be wise to have a solid and super confident vocal performance that’s believable, and yes, once again, contemporary!

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that’s in line with the best of today's Contemporary Country music (genre), and it wouldn’t hurt to shy away from submitting songs that have a detailed story line. You’re better off submitting songs with broad ideas, rather than visually detailed lyrics that you’d normally pitch for Country records. Lyrics that avoid using specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity will probably work best. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

CONTEMPORARY ELECTRONIC POP INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a well-respected Music Library with a very solid track record of TV and Film placements. This company ran a lot of listings with TAXI about 10 years ago, and placed a bunch of music from our members. They’ve recently started a New Company, so this is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor, and they pay an Upfront Fee to Composers!

They’re currently searching for quite a bit of Mid-to-Up-Tempo Electro/Pop Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:

“Breathe (Visualiser)” by Jax Jones ft. Ina Wroldsen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGhKqb2Ow3E

“Disco Tits” by Tove Lo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ez38iBxBW8g

“Out Of My Head” by Charli XCX ft. Tove Lo and ALMA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZWmwHjFRPI&t=169s

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch. Please submit fresh, current sounding Electro/Pop Cues with great builds and cool sounding ear candy throughout. Your production should be polished, with engaging melodies and exciting rhythms. Be sure your submissions feature a central melodic idea. Build momentum, dynamics, and forward movement by adding and subtracting different elements and instrumentation as your Cues progress.

Your submissions should be about 2 minutes long (give or take), with Non-Faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings. Please Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company pays $50 per Instrumental Cue for an EXCLUSIVE deal in which they get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. When placements generate sync fees over $1,000, additional income will be paid to the composer. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. INDIE, ELECTRONIC SYNTH/POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by an extremely busy Music Licensing Company with a really long track record of awesome placements in Film, TV, and Commercials. They're looking for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs that could fit in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references we got from them:

    “Get Out” by CHVRCHES: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bam2a9P13_Q

    “Midnight City” by M83: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX3k_QDnzHE

“Higher” by The Naked And Famous: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCsyXSr7u-Q

Please submit unique, original songs that have lots of attitude and tons of Indie vibe and commercial appeal as well. Your submissions should be rhythmically and melodically engaging, and have a big unforgettable chorus. Your songs can go a little bit outside of the box, but they should still maintain a commercially appealing sound. Different, but not so different that it's hard to remember or sing along with. Having a distinctive vocal sound and identity could also help you stand out for this request! NOTE: They need music that sounds like a real deal band or artist, so please be sure any Songs you submit have the authenticity of a true Synth/Pop cut.

Lyric themes could be anything that sounds like it would fall in the range of what you'd normally hear in the Synth/Pop genre. Universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places could make your song more appealing to the Licensing Company and Music Supervisors as well. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the songs you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit as many Songs as you'd like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Folk

    Return to List of Categories

CONTEMPORARY FOLK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Brand New, Non-Exclusive Music Library recently started by the CEO of another successful company. This company has asked TAXI to find them hundreds (probably thousands) of Instrumentals, Cues, and Songs over the next few months. It’s very unlikely that you’ve got music in this new catalog, so this is a killer opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new catalog that will probably get a ton of placements!

Please send them Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on the same playlist as artists/songs like:

    “Riptide” Vance Joy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ_1HMAGb4k

“Made It Fly” by Cookhouse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDw9KaL0Joo

    “The Kitchen” by Tow'rs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5Glh2zYzrk

Please submit current sounding Folk Songs that are well-crafted, with solid musicianship, and a vocal performance that has an honest, authentic, and believable delivery. Songs with typical Folk structure, and production style that’s primarily acoustic-based should work best for this pitch.

Lyric themes can vary, but should have an approach that’s in the general wheelhouse of the material shown above. Avoiding references to specific names, dates, times, brands, places, and profanity should make your songs more desirable to the Library and the Music Supervisors who will ultimately use it. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company offers a NON-Exclusive, 50/50 deal. You’ll get 50% of any applicable sync fees and 100% of the Writer’s share. The Publisher will get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this pitch. You’ll maintain full ownership of the original Copyright and Master Recording. Please send as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. NEW LISTING -- INDIE, ALT-FOLK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for a bunch of (mostly, up to) $1,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor Placements in a TV Series entering its 3rd season on a Major Cable Network. He’s looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general style and vibe of the following references we got from the Supervisor himself:

“Summer Light” by The Cave Singers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nxSD_TiTTQ

“Boy with a Coin” by Iron and Wine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHw7gdJ14uQ

    “Faster” by Matt Nathanson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyjQFdeFox8

“White Winter Hymnal” by Fleet Foxes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrQRS40OKNE

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “Your screeners should stick pretty closely to matching the styles – most of the songs would be for background source placements, so I’d want them to be able to sit behind a scene without distracting (so if screeners feel a song, played at low volume, has too many loud snare pops or cymbal sounds, or too many ‘start/stops’ rhythmically – they can knock those out – needs to just vibe behind a scene, mostly).”

Please submit well-crafted Indie Alt-Folk songs that have an authentic “Indie-style” vocal performance and overall “vibe.” Your production can be relatively simple, or it can have a fuller band sound. As long as it’s somewhat consistent with the references above, you should be in the ballpark you need to be in. It’s also got to be really good! Group harmonies, foot stomps, and handclaps could all potentially fit nicely for this request, but they’re not a requisite.

Note: Remember, these refs came directly from the Supervisor. We know that the Matt Nathanson song is a bit of an outlier, but what this tells us is that the Supervisor isn’t looking for songs that sound just like the references. He’s basically saying, “These are examples of songs that have a texture, feel, and overall sound that could work well in the context of this show. If you’ve got anything that’s really good and sounds like it belongs with this group of artists and songs, it might be a good fit for one of the scenes in this TV series.”

Note: This Music Supervisor prefers to license music from Indie Artists and likes to include them in the show’s end credits! Lyric Tip from the Supervisor: “Open to anything lyrically – though I tend to avoid songs with very clear audible references to people’s names or places (subtle okay, but not something that screams Billy From Brooklyn, or Lovely Louise).” Please do NOT copy the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Genre-Appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This genre isn’t known for slick, glossy-sounding recordings, so take that under advisement ;-) The estimated license fees for these placements will generally be from $500 - $1,000, depending on the ultimate use. These will be Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements, so you’ll get 100% of the Sync Fee, you’ll keep 100% of your Publishing and Master ownership, and you’ll also get 100% of any applicable performance royalties. No Publisher splits! You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than11:59PM (PST), on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018. TAXI #S180303AF

CONTEMPORARY GOSPEL SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a LEGENDARY RECORD PRODUCER who needs Hits for the records he’s working on. He’s on the prowl for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that have the general style and sound of the following references we got from our client:

“I'm Getting Ready” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard ft. Nicki Minaj: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t33El1ADYhw

“Worth” by Anthony Brown & group therAPy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uygakGSFMIw

Your song should have genre-appropriate production and instrumentation, with infectious grooves and contemporary rhythms. Having a vocal style that sounds consistent with the approach heard in the references (and the genre in general) could also help you in you nailing this pitch!

They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Pop Instrumental Cues that could generally fit in the stylistic wheelhouse of these references:

“What Lovers Do” by Maroon 5 feat. SZA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NmGGGlHpxQ

“Let Me Love You” by DJ Snake ft. Justin Bieber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMs0GnYze34

“Mama” by Jonas Blue ft. William Singe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPTfXwPf_HM

Although the references have vocals, this pitch is for Instrumentals only. Please submit fresh, well-crafted Instrumental Cues that have a contemporary Pop sound (not dated, please!) that’s built around a central melodic motif that adds and subtracts instruments and elements as the Cue progresses to keep it from sounding too repetitive or one-dimensional. Forward movement and a developmental arc will help you win them over!

Your submissions should be about 2 minutes long (give or take), with Non-Faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings. Please Do NOT copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company pays an upfront fee of $50 for each Instrumental Cue they sign. They offer an EXCLUSIVE deal in which they get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. When placements generate sync fees over $1,000, additional income will be paid to the composer. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Please send as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Saturday, February 17th, 2018. TAXI #Y180217PC

ORIGINAL, VINTAGE JAZZ INSTRUMENTALS IN ALL GENRES and SUB-GENRES Recorded in the 1960’s -1980’s are needed by a hard-working Music Licensing company that’s had lots of awesome placements in Commercials, Films, and TV Shows. They’ve signed and placed TAXI members in past years, and have come back to find more!

Please send them old masters or demos of your original (no covers) Jazz Instrumentals that were recorded in the 1960’s -1980’s. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! They’re much more interested finding music that sounds authentic to the time period than worrying about pristine recordings. Good demos and master recordings are all of interest to this company!

NOTE: They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good.

We’re not providing any references for this request, as they’re open to virtually all Jazz genres/styles including, but not limited to: Smooth Jazz, New Orleans Jazz, Avant-Garde, Fusion, Latin Jazz, Big Band, Traditional, Hard Bop, Cool Jazz, Ragtime, etc., etc., etc. It really just boils down to: They’re looking for Masters or decently recorded Demos of JAZZ Instrumentals from the 1960’s through the 1980’s – period! If you’re of a certain age, you’ve got them. Now you just need to find them ;-)

You’d be shocked by how many TAXI members have landed juicy placements with vintage recordings!!!!

This company does Exclusive and Non-Exclusive deals. The terms of the agreement will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Composition rights. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. ORIGINAL, NEW ORLEANS-style JAZZ INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Brand New, Non-Exclusive Music Library recently started by the CEO of another successful company.

They’re looking for original, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues that echo the lively, sound and vibe of these references:

New Orleans Jazz: Best of New Orleans Jazz Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHE7I1MWbrc&t=48s

Please submit well-crafted Instrumental Cues that instantly transport you to the heart of New Orleans. Be sure your submissions have impressive musicianship and feature authentic sounding instrumentation that’s commonly heard in this style of Jazz. Your overall Cue should have a fun, spirited, and lively mood that could create a perfect backdrop for travel shows, docu-series, and films!

Build your Cue around a simple, central melodic theme, while adding and subtracting layers of instrumentation as your Cue progresses to keep it from sounding too repetitive or linear. Please avoid using any instruments that sound stiff, synthetic, or obviously MIDI-driven.

All submissions should be about 2:00 in length (give or take), with Non-Faded endings. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine.)

Please send as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Monday, February 19th, 2018. TAXI #Y180219NO

ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC-SOUNDING FORRO INSTRUMENTALS are needed by well-known, NON-Exclusive Music Library with a very long list of TV, Film, and Commercial placements. They’re eagerly searching for a bunch Instrumentals (not Cues) that would fall in the general stylistic ballpark of the references below:

“Vou com Você” by Dominguinhos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys__Fs827gk

“Forró de Mane Vito” by Luiz Gonzaga: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpZANBwpC40

“Light a Candle” by Forro in the Dark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsR8bCkGzx0

Although some of the references have vocals, this pitch is for instrumentals only. Please submit rhythmically and melodically engaging Forro Instrumentals that have a genuine sounding Forro feel, sound, and vibe. Yep, we admit it, we had to research what Forro is, but now we know. And you should too if you’re going to submit to this! Your production should be authentic, with Traditional Forro instruments, rhythms and melodies. Smaller ensembles, or full bands could all work for this pitch, as long as your piece sounds like the real deal and has a sound that would work well in a variety of media such as but not limited to travel shows, docu-series, and films!

Your submissions should be at about 3-4 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded endings are recommended, but not an absolute requirement for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Genre-Appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed. In other words: not too slick or glossy sounding. Well-balanced and authentic sounding should do the trick

This Company offers a NON-Exclusive 50/50 deal. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like online or per CD. ORIGINAL, 8-Bit (CHIPTUNE) COMPUTER GAME-Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a great Music Library with international distribution and lots of success in Film and TV placements. They’re on the hunt for Instrumentals in All Tempos that are in the general stylistic ballpark of these references:

    “Zizibum” by X-ray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBVoONryE3s

Castlevania III Music (NES) - Mad Forest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPbKUdFvbeM

    "Jetpack Blues" by Anamanaguchi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e73hUipjp3Q

NOTE: If you’re not familiar with Chiptune music, here’s a link that explains this unique genre in great detail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiptune

Give them great, authentic sounding Instrumentals that sound like the music used in vintage computers, video games, and arcade machines, with a genuine 8-Bit sound and style. Vintage recordings or contemporary sounding productions with a retro sound and feel are both okay to submit for this request. The more “old school” and classic sounding the better! It’s probably not a great idea to use modern/contemporary sounding patches in the context of re-creating Chip Tune music. It will sound too good!

Your submissions should be at least 1:30 minutes long, and have Non-Faded endings. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way shape of form. Use them only as a general guide for tone, texture, and overall vibe. Genre-appropriate Broadcast Quality (in the context of old 8-Bit recordings) is needed.

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You’ll get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Writer’s share. They’ll get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this pitch. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like online or per CD. EMOTIONALLY UPBEAT, DANCE POP INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a European Music Library with lots and lots of great placements in Film and TV. This company has just started running Listings with TAXI. It’s very unlikely that you’ve got any music in their catalog, so this is a killer opportunity to get in on the ground floor!

They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals (not cues) in the general ballpark of artists like (but not limited to), Justin Bieber, Kygo, Hailee Steinfeld, Calvin Harris etc., etc., etc. Please check out the references they gave us below to get in the stylistic wheelhouse of the sound, style, and vibe they need:

“Friends” by Justin Bieber & BloodPop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BldYlGqs7pA

“Stranger Things” by Kygo ft. OneRepublic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ChgRbqGi-E

    “Summer” by Calvin Harris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebXbLfLACGM

“Let Me Go” by Hailee Steinfeld, Alesso ft. Florida Georgia Line, WATT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ_0QLL2gqI

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch. Give them current sounding Instrumentals with catchy, Pop-style chord progressions, hooky melodies, and dance-worthy drumbeats! Be sure your instrumentation and any electronic elements you use sound modern and current (not dated), and in the ballpark of what you’d likely hear in the references above. Being slightly ahead of the curve could be a good thing, but don’t go too far out there!

Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Non-Faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings will work best for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

CONTEMPORARY POP ARTISTS or GROUPS with FEMALE Vocals are needed by the new Head of A&R at a Major Record Label who’s currently looking for great, new artists to sign.

We know this A&R guy pretty well, and he’s awesome! Great ears, and he knows how to get it done! Please listen to the references the client gave us below to get a ballpark-ish idea of the sound and style he’s looking for:

“Into You” by Ariana Grande: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ekZEVeXwek

    “Beautiful Trauma” by P!nk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBt_88nxG4c

    “Jealous” by Beyoncé: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQmYVfHrNxA

Please send well-crafted Pop songs that highlight your ability to captivate an audience musically, vocally, and lyrically. Your songs should have captivating melodies, expertly crafted lyrics, and a chart-topping chorus that's ready for the big leagues! Your instrumentation and production can vary, but should be somewhat stylistically consistent with the references above. In other words, it wouldn’t sound out of place on the same chart, radio station, or playlist! Having a super-compelling vocal performance is a requisite when you’re pitching to people at this guy’s level, so give it your very, very best!

Quoting Our Source: “Having experience, a fan base, and streaming activity would be a plus, but it’s not necessary if the music is super high quality and the star appeal is obvious.”

This guy is a legit star-maker, and he’s looking for an act he can sink his teeth into!

Please be sure to include any touring, fan base, sales, streaming, or impressive social media figures you may have in your bio. If you’re an artist or band that’s just starting out and don’t have much of a story or track record yet, but you do have an amazing sound and the songs to back it up, he’ll still want to hear you! Please submit three Songs online or per CD, with lyrics, photos, and bio. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI A&R person who has been handpicked by the Head of the A&R – Short critiques only. FUN, CONTEMPORARY POP SONGS with some R&B influence are needed for an (up-to) $500, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Ad Agency placement in a Digital/Online Commercial for a huge fast food chain. They’re looking for fresh, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be heard on the same playlist as (but not limited to) songs like these:

“That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMivT7MJ41M

“Come Get It Bae” by Pharrell Williams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfGMj10wOzg

“Tip Toe” by Jason Derulo ft French Montana: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNA9ru2Ox5o

Please submit fun, emotionally upbeat, commercial-sounding Songs with a contemporary Pop sound and a noticeable R&B appeal/flavor. Be sure your production sounds incredibly current and in line with what you’d hear on the charts! Having a strong, polished vocal performance that's full of attitude and confidence is must for this request.

Quoting the Source: “They want something that’s fun and emotionally upbeat. Songs can also include a rap verse as well.”

Lyrics should have fresh concepts and be in the general ballpark of what you’d typically hear on the Pop/R&B Charts. Positive, fun, emotionally upbeat lyrics that make listeners want to go out and have fun would likely work best for this type of TV Commercial.

Lyric ideas/concepts like “gonna get it,” “gotta love it,” “can’t get enough,” “I like it like that,” could work well (those suggestions are from the brain trust at TAXI World Headquarters, based on what we know about this fast food chain’s products). You do not have to stick to those!!! Please avoid submitting anything that’s serious, dark, or emotionally negative for this pitch. Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, places, times, dates, brands, and profanity will probably work best.

Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this use is (up-to) $500, depending on the ultimate placement. This request is almost certainly for digital/online ads, hence the relatively low creative fee. It’s not uncommon that online ads that do well get migrated to broadcast or cable TV, with additional (and often substantial) fees paid when it happens!

This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Agency placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recording, plus you’ll also get 100% of the Master License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Copyright and Master Recording to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. INDIE, SYNTH POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed QUICKLY by a busy, NON-Exclusive Music Library for an (up to) $400, placement in an Independent Feature Film. Give them Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could generally be heard on a playlist with artists or acts like (but not limited to) M83, Passion Pit, Capital Cities, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the references we got from the company to get an idea of what they need:

    “Midnight City” by M83: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX3k_QDnzHE

“Moth's Wings” by Passion Pit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umoU5PVnfTU

“Center Stage” by Capital Cities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDBU9x1tPWs

Please submit current, well-crafted Indie, Synth Pop Songs that are rhythmically and melodically solid, with a slick overall approach that sounds like it could fit on a playlist with the references above (and other acts in that ballpark). Your production should contain modern Electronic elements together with some live instrumentation (funky bass lines and cool electric guitar riffs) to give it a real deal feel and sound. Your vocal performance should be well performed and have plenty of personality and attitude.

Although they didn’t ask for specific lyric themes, universal lyrics that avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity are always a good bet. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this use is (up to) $400, depending on the ultimate placement. This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal. You’ll split any applicable sync fees 50/50. NEW LISTING -- POP/ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y by a busy, NON-Exclusive Music Library for an (up to) $400 placement in an Independent Feature Film. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up Tempo Songs that could generally fit in the stylistic wheelhouse of these references:

    “Dream” by One Republic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdK15wELprI

Please submit well-crafted songs with typical Pop/Rock Song structure, super catchy melodies, and a chorus that sounds like what you’d expect to hear on the radio. Some electronic elements can work here, but you’d be wise to keep them somewhat minimal as to not take away from the Pop/Rock Vibe. Your vocal performance should be solid and confident with a Pop/Rock-style delivery.

Lyric themes should be in the wheelhouse of what you’d expect to hear from Pop/Rock artists. Little diversion from the norm is a safe way to go. Lyrics that don’t have specific names, dates, times, brands, and places will make your songs more usable. Do not copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

CURRENT-SOUNDING, TOP 40-Style POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a very well-respected Music Library with a solid track record of Film and TV placements. This company ran a lot of listings with TAXI about 10 years ago, and placed a bunch of music from our members. They’ve recently started a New Company, so this is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor, and they pay an Upfront Fee to Songwriters!

They’re looking hard to find some radio-worthy songs that are Mid-to-Up-Tempo, and could generally fit in the stylistic wheelhouse of these references:

“Mama” by Jonas Blue ft. William Singe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPTfXwPf_HM “Your Song” by Rita Ora: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i95Nlb7kiPo

“What Lovers Do” by Maroon 5 feat. SZA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NmGGGlHpxQ

Give them hook-driven songs with immediately engaging melodies, well-crafted lyrics, and a solid chorus that screams Top 40 radio! Your submissions should have a solid Pop song structure, with a polished production. Be sure your vocal performance is super current-sounding, with a delivery that’s well performed from top to bottom.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that you’d expect to hear on the Top 40 Charts. You’d be smart to avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, and profanity. Do not copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company pays $100 upfront, for each Song added to their Library. They offer an EXCLUSIVE deal. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. Sync fees over $1,000 will generate additional income for the composer. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. TOP 40-Style POP/ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for an (up-to) $5,000, Direct-to-Production Company placement on a HIT TV Show for a Major Broadcast Network. Please submit super strong, Mid-to-Up Tempo Songs that are in the stylistic ballpark of the reference (they gave us) below to get a general idea of what could work for this request:

    “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKopy74weus

Send them great, well-structured Songs that have unforgettable melodies, and a really catchy chorus. Your song should have solid production, contemporary sounding instrumentation, and lean toward the Pop side of Rock, with lots of commercial, mainstream appeal. Your vocal performance needs to be strong and sound like it would be right at home on the Top 40 Rock chart. Anthemic background vocals in the chorus would be a nice touch, and a great sounding, radio mix almost goes without saying.

Note: they are NOT asking for clones or sound-a-likes of the referenced song.

Lyric Tip: Lyrical concepts that revolve around topics like getting over someone, starting over, and missing love would all work well for this pitch. Avoiding specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity in your lyric is probably best.

Do NOT copy the referenced acts in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this placement is (up to) $5,000, depending on the ultimate placement. This show’s production company will get the Publisher’s share of the copyright (this has become typical for big, music-centric shows that don’t want to feature songs, then have to re-do their deals when the shows go into syndication, etc). You’ll get the writer’s share. You’ll also get 100% of the Sync Fee and any applicable performance royalties. The specific terms of this agreement will be determined directly between you and the show’s production company. Because this is an Exclusive deal, please do NOT submit music for this pitch that is already signed to any other Libraries or Publishers. You must own or control your Copyright and Master recording. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Please send them well-crafted songs that have all the essential elements of current Pop music: strong hooks, infectious melodies, and an unforgettable chorus. Your production should be current sounding (not dated, please) and have a slick, polished, Top 40 sound. A vocal performance that would sound at home on a Pop radio station could serve you well for this request!

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that you’d expect to hear on the Top 40 Charts. You’d be smart to avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, profanity, and brands if you’d like to increase the chances of your songs getting sync placements. Do not copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. PSYCHEDELIC, INDIE POP/ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a classy Music Licensing Company that has a TON of awesome placements in high-end Feature Films and TV Shows. There’s a really good chance you don’t have any music in this company’s catalog yet because it’s relatively small and they’re very selective! They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

“Beginner’s Luck” by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLdI44R0RQA

“When You Die ” by MGMT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmozGmGoJuw

    “Shaky” by Thayer Sarrano: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NMqEgS4g7g

Please send them authentic sounding Psychedelic Indie Pop/Rock Songs that generally fit the vibe of the references above. Your Songs should be rhythmically, melodically, and lyrically compelling, with a style and approach that are in line with today’s version of Psychedelic Pop/Rock. They’re not looking for Woodstock-era material ;-) Be sure your vocals are solid, with an authentically “Indie sounding” delivery.

Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places will make your songs more usable. It’s not an absolute must, but it can give you an edge over material that has specific references in it. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Genre-Appropriate sounding Broadcast Quality is needed – in other words, Lo-Fi and distorted could work really well for this request! Slick and glossy material might not!

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the songs you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. CONTEMPORARY R&B Songs with some POP influence and Female Vocals are needed by a Major Label A&R Executive for a newly signed Artist who is also an actress on a Popular TV show as well. They’re looking for great songs that are Mid-to-Up-Tempo and would appeal to the fans of artists like (but not limited to) Jorja Smith, Flume, Brasstracks, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get in the stylistic range of what they need:

“On My Mind” by Jorja Smith X Preditah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA5uuBCtZ5k

“Never Be Like You” by Flume Ft. Kai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KPnyf8vwXI

“Get Your Way” by Brasstracks ft. Roses Gabor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ2-sAoPedE

Quoting the Source: “Think UK Soulful Pop meets American R&B. Ideas like Alicia Keys/Emil Sande meets “Flume Never Be Like You” or an Urban Elle Goulding would be Ideal.”

Please submit songs that push the envelope a bit, and aren’t doing the same old thing. But at the same time, your songs should have a radio-friendly structure, and need to be rhythmically, melodically, and lyrically engaging, with an unforgettable, hook-driven chorus. Do we like using commas, or what?! Your submissions should be polished, and have a crossover sound that can work in both the R&B and Pop genres. Having a really great vocal performance on your recording will help get this artist and her label excited about cutting your song.

TAXI Tip: Please make sure your song is super cool and left leaning, as this artist would never do material that could be considered straight Pop. You’d also be wise to avoid submitting anything that’s straight American Urban as well. They’re open to hearing songs with a ‘90’s House feel, too.

Be sure your production and recording quality are good enough to represent your song well. Please submit as many Songs you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - Short Critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Thursday, February 22nd, 2018. TAXI #Y180222RB

ORIGINAL, VINTAGE SOUL SONGS Recorded in the 1960’s -1980’s with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a really cool Music Licensing Company that has lots of awesome placements in Commercials, TV Shows, and Films. They’ve signed and placed TAXI members in past years, and have come back to find more!

If you’ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with the references below, or any other popular Soul acts from those eras, you might have exactly what this Company needs:

“I can't get next to you” by The Temptations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RfGe6MvY84

    “Respect” by Aretha Franklin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FOUqQt3Kg0

Please send them old masters or demos of your original (no covers) Soul Songs that were recorded in the 1960’s -1980’s.

CONTEMPORARY R&B SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a very prolific Music Library that has a TON of awesome placements in many high-end Films and TV Shows. They’re on the hunt for current sounding, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

    “Location” by Khalid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by3yRdlQvzs

    “Broken Clocks” by SZA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Exxu8lsGYE

    “Sky Walker” by Miguel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76O3w4pt0CA

Please submit well-crafted songs with modern-sounding production and a contemporary R&B structure. Your song should have a ton of mainstream appeal with awesome melodies and an unforgettable chorus. Be sure your vocals are soulfully expressive and have a polished and well-executed delivery in the general style of the references, and other acts in that ballpark.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you’d typically hear in the R&B genre. Universal lyrics will usually work best, so please try to avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy the referenced acts in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Also, do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the songs you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. “SMOOTH” & “VIBEY” R&B SONGS with some HIP-HOP Influence and Female Vocals are needed for a bunch of (mostly, up to) $1,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor Placements in a TV Series entering its 3rd season on a Major Cable Network. They’re looking for Mid-Tempo Songs that have the general style and vibe of the following references we got from the Music Supervisor:

WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“Love Galore” by SZA ft. Travis Scott: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHXfCOjb3fk

“Sativa” by Jhené Aiko ft. Rae Sremmurd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x-d3pabd5o

    “Body Party” by Ciara: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9rSBcoX9ak

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “Your screeners should stick pretty closely to matching the styles – most of the songs would be for background source placements, so I’d want them to be able to sit behind a scene without distracting (so if screeners feel a song, played low volume, has too many loud snare pops or cymbal sounds or too many ‘start/stops’ rhythmically – they can knock those out – needs to just vibe behind a scene, mostly.”

Please send this Supervisor some chill, mood-setting R&B songs that have smooth melodies, polished sounding beats, and a well-crafted song structure that would be right at home on the R&B charts. Though the likelihood is that many of the songs this Supervisor will select will be used as background source placements, if he hears a chorus that sounds like a record that should be on the charts, it might get the song bumped up to a featured placement. Smooth vocals are clearly the order of the day in this genre.

Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). The estimated license fees for these placements will generally be from $500 - $1,000, depending on the ultimate use. CURRENT SOUNDING HIP HOP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Brand New, Non-Exclusive Music Library recently started by the CEO of another successful company.

They’re looking for Songs that sound like what you’d hear on playlists with artists like (but not limited to): Leikeli47, Post Malone, Migos, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get in the general stylistic wheelhouse of what they’re looking for:

WARNING: Some of the following references may have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

    “Money” by Leikeli47: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAM_ONZgPnE

“Rockstar” by Post Malone ft. 21 Savage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UceaB4D0jpo

“MotorSport” by Migos, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v_rtaye2yY

Please submit contemporary sounding Songs that are rhythmically, melodically, and lyrically engaging. Your song should have an outstanding vocal performance that generally reflects the attitude and swagger you’d expect to hear from the references above and other acts in that wheelhouse. Your production should be polished from top to bottom, and have current sounding instrumentation.

Universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places will make your songs more usable, but they’re not an absolute necessity. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for feel, texture, tone, and vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media.

HIGH ENERGY, SWAMPY ROCK/RAP SONGS are needed by a Music Licensing Company with a long and impressive list of great placements in TV, Film, and Commercials. They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that have the general style and vibe of the following reference the Company gave us:

NOTE: We recently ran this opportunity as TAXI Listing #Y180123SR, but the company didn’t get enough material and asked us to run the Listing again and quickly find them more music! If you submitted to Listing #Y180123SR, please send different material this time around.

“Showdown" (Party With Guns)” by Southpaw Swagger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfJPcOVmRZs

Give them edgy, original swampy Rock/Rap Songs with solid hooks, creative use of metaphors, slick inventive wordplay, and a Rap performance that has plenty of swagger. Be sure your overall production is “greasy,” and has some touches of Rock Metal elements, like crunchy guitar riffs, rockin’ bass grooves and hard-hitting drums.

Lyrics that avoid using specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity will probably make them happy. Do NOT copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine).

They’ve just recently started running Listings with TAXI, so chances are you don’t have material in their catalog yet! Send them current sounding, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that you’d expect to hear on playlists with artists like (but not limited to):

WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“Slippery” by Migos ft. Gucci Mane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm1YFszJWbQ

“MotorSport” by Migos, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v_rtaye2Yy

Please send contemporary sounding Trap songs that are modern and a little bit edgy. Your songs should be well-structured, with a banging Trap style beat, and a confident vocal delivery that’s full of attitude and swagger. The more your song sounds like a record on the radio; the better your chances are of nailing this request!

Lyric themes can vary, but they should be stylistically consistent with the references and without any profanity. Universal lyrics will work best, so please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy the referenced artist/acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Also, do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. CURRENT SOUNDING ALT-ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by an excellent Film/TV Music Licensing Company that has a TON of awesome placements in many high-end Films and TV Shows. This is a Top Notch company with very few TAXI members in their catalog, so this is a great opportunity to get in a catalog that you’re probably not in yet!

They’re searching for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on the same playlist as acts like (but not limited to), Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Welshly Arms, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to all the references to get a general idea of what can work for this pitch:

    “Believer” by Imagine Dragons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wtfhZwyrcc

    “Unconsolable” by X Ambassadors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzP5KsYSGD0

    “Legendary” by Welshly Arms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2CZn966cUg

Please submit commercial sounding songs that have a contemporary sound with a bit of an edgy vibe. Songs should be well crafted, with great melodies, and have a big, anthemic, in-your-face chorus. Your production should have authentic sounding Rock instrumentation and hard-hitting drums. Be sure your vocal performance is well performed and have plenty attitude with a ton of Rock swagger.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that you’d expect to hear in the Alt Rock genre. You’d be smart to avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, and profanity for this pitch.

RHYTHMIC ALT-ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals OR INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS are U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needed by an A-List Music Licensing Company for a TV Commercial with an estimated payout of at least $25,000. They’re looking for really cool, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs OR Instrumentals that would be in the general ballpark (and it’s a pretty big ballpark at that) of the references below. We got these references from the Licensing Company:

“Run Boy Run” by Woodkid (starting at 0:15): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmc21V-zBq0

“Wor” by Django Django (starting at 1:38): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBzET3tBkmU

Quoting the foreign affiliate of the U.S.-based Music Licensing Company TAXI is working with: “The references that we have for the music that we are looking for are the song “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid and “Wor” by Django Django. As you can understand from the aforementioned songs, the ideal song should have a very strong character and should not be just a catchy, sappy track. It needs to be a song that makes a strong impression. Furthermore, it is important the song not to have too much in the way of lyrics. Moreover, it should also have a build-up/uplift. Please note that instrumentals are also in consideration for this project as long as they meet the aforementioned requirements.”

TAXI further queried our client -- the U.S. based Music Licensing Company -- to get more detailed information for you, and here’s what we’ve learned:

    • They’re not looking for typical happy, clappy, emotionally upbeat music for this commercial.

    • They don’t want “sappy” relationship-based lyrics. Go for something with more gravitas… somewhat more “badass,” possibly with rebellious, irreverent themes like (but not limited to); “We’re not going to take it,” or “We’re fighting back,” sort of stuff.

    • This brand’s TV Commercials are usually pretty “cinematic,” so look at the aspects of the references that would work well in that context, and send them music that triangulates or mashes up those qualities, but doesn’t copy the references. If they wanted songs just like the refs, they’d probably just use them ;-)

    • Be original, be creative, be rhythmic, be cool, and give them something that’s catchy as hell with a big build up and “uplift,” as they refer to it!

    • Don’t forget to pay special attention to the rhythmic quality of both references!

As mentioned above, they are interested in hearing Songs and Instrumentals for this Commercial!

If you’re submitting a Song; the lyrics should be more like sparse, impactful phrases rather than fully developed lyrics, with vocals that have the swagger level and irreverent tone they seem to like.

If you’re submitting an Instrumental; please don’t send them anything that even remotely sounds like a typical music library track! Listen over and over to the references until you get a good sense of the feel and vibe that make them so appealing.

No times were given, but it’s safe to assume that two to four minutes would be a good range. Not too short, not too long. Short intros are usually a great idea for this type of placement!

The estimated license fee is at-least $25,000, depending on the ultimate use. We specifically asked the U.S. Music Licensing Company what they thought this placement would pay, and their educated guess was, “At least $25,000 to license the master and composition.”

We also think this will be a “Semi-Exclusive” deal where the company will likely earn what the music creator makes, and you’ll keep all of your publishing and master ownership. You will likely need to keep your music “off-market” for other TV Commercials during the term of the agreement, which will be between you and the Licensing Company and the Ad Agency.

You need to own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this request, and the material you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit as many Songs or Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a person who does A&R work for the Music Licensing company – Short critiques only. The person screening the submissions for this will be judging the music largely on “gut feeling,” based on extensive experience in selecting music for advertising. There will be NO EXTENSIONS of the deadline for this Listing, not even by a minute, sorry folks! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Sunday, February 18th, 2018. ORIGINAL, VINTAGE ROCK SONGS recorded in the 1960’s -1980’s with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a really cool Music Licensing Company that has lots of awesome placements in Commercials, TV Shows, and Films. They’ve signed and placed TAXI members in past years, and have come back to find more!

Please send them old masters or demos of your original (no covers) Rock Songs that were recorded in the 1960’s -1980’s.

We purposely passed on putting references in this request, as they could potentially be more misleading or limiting than helpful. It really just boils down to: They’re looking for Masters or decently recorded Demos of ROCK songs from the 1960’s through the 1980’s – period!

Please submit as many songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. BLUES/ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for several (up-to) $2,500, Direct-to-Music Supervisor, NON-Exclusive placements in a Dramatic Action Adventure Cable TV Series. They’re searching for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of following references that we got directly from the Music Supervisor:

“Bad Man” by Blues Saraceno: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IDnFzr_ZaY

    “Fire” by Barns Courtney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLEoictM8p4

“Way Down We Go” by Kaleo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-7IHOXkiV8

“Heaven Knows” by The Pretty Reckless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHBxJCq99jA

Please submit well-crafted Songs with great melodies, fresh lyrics, and a big, memorable chorus. Some grit and “grease” on your tracks could work well. If you could imagine your song being played in a biker bar scene, you might be on to something ;-)

Lyrics about the trials and tribulations of life always seem to work well for this genre, but you don’t need to limit your ideas to just that! We wouldn’t recommend anything that’s light or uplifting though. It is Blues/Rock, after all. A little sorrow while getting picked up off the asphalt might be just thing for your vocal performance. Songs about hard knocks are not uncommon in Blues/Rock, so don’t be afraid to go there lyrically and vocally.

TAXI Tip: The Music Supervisor expressly asked us to make sure you do NOT send any Metal or thrashy Rock. Stick to Blues/Rock and you’ll put a smile on his face.

Note: This series needs several songs for the streaming/radio channels that will be created for this show, so don’t hesitate to submit a few different songs for this pitch!

Do NOT copy the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Genre appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed. In other words, this genre typically has quite a bit of distortion and doesn’t sound too polished, so let the references be your guide in that regard.

The estimated license fee for these placements is (up-to) $2,500 per song, depending on the ultimate use. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor pitch. You'll get 100% of the sync fee, and 100% of any applicable performance royalties. Plus, you'll also keep 100% of your Publishing and Master ownership. You need to own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD, Include Lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by the Music Supervisor himself (his schedule permitting), or a Screener selected by the Supervisor if his schedule gets too busy – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018. TAXI #Y180220GB

1990’s-Inlfuenced ALT ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label A&R Executive for an up-and-coming band that’s getting lots of buzz. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of bands like (but not limited to) Third Eye Blind, Spin Doctors Eagle-Eye Cherry, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references our client provided to get a feel for the style and vibe they need:

NOTE: Your submission does not have to have been recorded in the 1990s, but it should capture the overall energy, feel, and vibe of that time period. This is a hip, young band, they want songs that have an authentic ‘90’s sound, but they will make it their own.

“Semi Charmed Life” by Third Eye Blind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beINamVRGy4

“Two Princes” by Spin Doctors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsdy_rct6uo

“Save Tonight” by Eagle-Eye Cherry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nntd2fgMUYw

Please submit Alt/Rock Songs that have great musicianship, top-notch songwriting, and a chorus that sounds like a hit in the making. Instrumentation should sound like an authentic ‘90’s Alt-Rock band performed it, as opposed to a one-person studio project. Be sure to have a solid, memorable vocal performance to get them excited about cutting your song.

Your production and recording quality needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well. Please submit as many songs as you’d like online or per CD, include lyrics. ORIGINAL, VINTAGE, 1970’s HARD ROCK SONGS/RECORDINGS with Male Vocals are needed by an A-List Music Publisher for Film and TV Sync licensing. If you’ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with the references below, or any other popular acts from that era, you might have exactly what this awesome publisher needs:

“The Wizard” by Black Saabath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKY--qaHWSw

    “Light’s Out” by UFO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-uFp0m2xNs

TAXI Tip: You can submit old masters or demos for this pitch!

The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings! They’re much more interested finding music that sounds authentic to the time period!

This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market!

Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short Critiques only. ALT-ROCK SONGS with Female Vocals are needed for a bunch of (mostly, up to) $1,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor Placements in a TV Series entering its 3rd season on a Major Cable Network. He’s looking for great, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Alt Rock Songs that would fit on a playlist with artists like: Halestorm, Flyleaf, Gretta Ray, Alex Lahey, Bloodboy, etc. Please listen to the following references we got from the Supervisor to get a feel for the range of Female Alt Rock that could work well in this TV Show. “I Am The Fire” by Halestorm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hkmuTvkp_s “All Around Me” by Flyleaf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=417YOjyl1kg “Drive” by Gretta Ray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d0rwhERGBw “Every Day’s the Weekend” by Alex Lahey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBj_magluuc “Hey Kid” by Bloodboy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUkFgXCV5fQ Quoting the Music Supervisor: “No Hard Rock, please. Your screeners should stick pretty closely to matching the styles – most of the songs would be for background source placements, so I’d want them to be able to sit behind a scene without distracting (so if screeners feel a song, played low volume, has too many loud snare pops or cymbal sounds or too many ‘start/stops’ rhythmically – they can knock those out – needs to just vibe behind a scene mostly.” Please send well-written, well-performed songs with great vocals that help deliver the song’s emotion, message, and vibe. While the songs selected by this Supervisor will mostly be used as background source music, the better they are, the greater the chance of being used in a “featured” slot in one of the episodes. Note: This Music Supervisor prefers to license music from Indie Artists and likes to include them in the show’s end credits! Lyric Tip from the Supervisor: “Open to anything lyrically – though I tend to avoid songs with very clear audible references to people’s names or places (subtle okay, but not something that screams Billy From Brooklyn, or Lovely Louise :)” Please do NOT copy the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). The estimated license fees for these placements will generally be from $500 - $1,000, depending on the ultimate use. These will be Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements, so you’ll get 100% of the Sync Fee, you’ll keep 100% of your Publishing and Master ownership, and you’ll also get 100% of any applicable performance royalties. CONTEMPORARY LATIN POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a very well-respected Music Library with a solid track record of Film and TV placements. This company ran a lot of listings with TAXI about 10 years ago, and placed a bunch of music from our members. They’ve recently started a New Company, so this is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor, and they pay an Upfront Fee to Songwriters!

They’re searching for current-sounding, Mid-to-Up Tempo Songs that are in the stylistic ballpark of artists like (but not limited to), Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Jennifer Lopez, Maluma, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the references the client gave us to get a general idea of what could work for this pitch:

“Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72UO0v5ESUo

“Ni Tú Ni Yo” by Jennifer Lopez ft. Gente de Zona: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfM3P2jT9qE

“Felices los 4” by Maluma: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_jHrUE5IOk

Please submit songs that are rhythmically, melodically, and lyrically engaging, with a great structure and vocal performance that generally reflects what you’d expect to hear on today’s Latin Pop charts. Your production should have contemporary Pop beats with some distinct Latin-flavored instruments, rhythms, and grooves!

TAXI Tip: Your songs can feature vocals performed in either Spanish, English, OR a combination of both!

Lyric themes can vary, but should be consistent with themes you’d typically hear in the modern Latin Pop genre. The more universal your lyrics are the better, so please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs in any way, shape, or form. Use the references only as a general guide for the vibe and lyric theme they need. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company pays an upfront fee of $100 per Song, for each song added to their Library. They offer an EXCLUSIVE deal. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. Sync fees over $1,000 will generate additional income for the composer.
