One of the most common questions we get from new members is, "What is 'Master Quality,' or 'Broadcast Quality'?"
Like them, you may want to know if your recordings sound good enough to be placed in Films and TV shows. You may already know that Film and TV placements are the best way to make easy money with your music, but you many not be sure if your home recordings make the grade.
Sadly, most people just assume that their tracks don't sound "professional" enough. Most people are dead wrong!!
Music Supervisors don't care how many tracks you used or where you recorded your music. They are much more concerned with finding lyrics that fit with a particular scene in their project.
Are you surprised that I mentioned lyrics? Did you assume that most Film and TV opportunities are for people who do big, lush scores?
If you're shaking your head up and down, then you've missed out on hundreds of easy opportunities for your music over the last few years. Watch an hour of TV, and you'll see what I mean.
Tons of dramas use songs with lyrics. So do comedies and documentaries.
Think about it for a minute...
Have you ever noticed the "Jukebox" music playing in the background when somebody walks into a bar in a TV show? How about when a jilted lover jumps into her car and speeds away — did you notice the broken-hearted love song playing on her car radio?
What's even more exciting is that they aren't just looking for lyrics that fit. They're often just looking for a type or genre of music that goes with the "vibe" of the scene. Pop, Southern Rock, Country, Hip Hop, East African Drums, Klezmer... you name it, we've been asked for it!
Most of the time, the songs used are from people like you, not big-time rock stars. Want to know why?
Their songs cost too much!
I'd be willing to make an educated guess that the majority of the songs you hear came from people who recorded them on nothing more than an 8-track, home studio. The quality may not have been what you'd expect for a song on a CD, but that didn't stop it from being perfect for a TV show.
It's almost always the lyric, genre, or overall texture that count the most!
Of course, TAXI gives you plenty of opportunities to get your songs into Films and TV Shows, but we recently stumbled onto another opportunity that was even better!
Desperate Music Supervisors and Directors! I'll tell you more in a minute.
As you know, most of TAXI's listings run for 30 to 60 days. That's often not fast enough when it's crunch time. It's not unusual at all for a last minute request from a Desperate Music Supervisor or Director who needs the "perfect song" by the next day. And let me tell you, that's the best opportunity you'll ever find!
Who do you think you'd have a better shot with — somebody who has plenty of time on his or her hands, or somebody who is in DESPERATE need?
The answer is obvious, isn't it?
That's why we created TAXI Dispatch, our overnight Film and TV service for DESPERATE Film and TV music supervisors, directors, and the musicians who have the music they need.
It's an easy upgrade to your existing TAXI membership, but I've always been hesitant to "cram" it down the throats of our new members. I want you to get to know us better before you make the decision to upgrade.
But, apparently, people do want to upgrade as soon as they join, because I've had plenty of members get downright ticked-off at me for "hiding" this opportunity from them.
My solution? I'll tell you, but I'm not going to cram it down your throat.
To learn more about TAXI Dispatch just call us at 1-800-458-2111 and we'll give you all the info you need. You can also go to www.taxi.com/members/members-dispatch.html
