The Sound Of Water is the musical concept of composer and keyboardist Ross Alcock. Its goal is to create music and songs in a variety of different styles and genres and showcase the talents of the composer and new or unsigned vocalists and musicians. The Sound Of Water have released 2 albums since 2023 - 'Dreamsongs' and 'Life In Gravity Town'. Songs from both albums have appeared on multiple online play lists with streams in the hundreds of thousands. The song ‘Pirates Gold’ was featured on BBC Scotland's ‘The Afternoon Show’ and reached the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Contest 2024. The Sound Of Water formed as a band in December 2024 and recently headlined a gig at Glasgow's Ivory Blacks to celebrate 20 years of Stealth Recording Studios, Glasgow.
Ross started his professional musical career as the keyboardist and songwriter with the Glasgow band H2O in the 1980s. The band signing with RCA Records and enjoyed UK nationwide success with chart hits 'Dream To Sleep', and 'Just Outside Of Heaven' and studio album 'Faith'. The band toured extensively throughout the 1980s and continued to release singles, including ‘Blue Diamond’ until 1988.
He has also written music for film and television and worked as a nuclear physicist and Operations Manager for EDF Energy.
