Terry Burns

Clovis, NM native Terry Burns returned to New Mexico in 2014 and now resides in Rio Rancho. After studying in New York with Rufus Reid, Terry moved to Los Angeles, where he continued his performance career. He then relocated to Minneapolis, where he began his academic career both as an instructor and a college administrator. Terry has played and/or recorded with many of the greatest names in Jazz including; Freddie Hubbard, Gene Harris, Ray Bryant, Von Freeman, Teddy Edwards, Lenny White, Joanne Brakeen, Dewey Redman, and many others. Terry has won numerous awards for his music including 2 nominations from the Minnesota Music Awards and 4 nominations from the New Mexico Music Awards (with 3 wins in the last 4 years). Terry has been composing music in various genres for over 20 years.
