Steve Sternberg

Steve Sternberg's energetic, playful and moving piano music has entertained Florida, Georgia and Alabama audiences for 36 years. Residing in Tallahassee, Florida, this pianist and composer plays an eclectic mix of barrelhouse and neo-classical, including old obscure covers and his contemporary originals. You'll hear boogie-woogie from the 20'and 30's and ragtime, as well as original blues, pop and neo-classical.

Sternberg has been performing since 1975 both as a solo artist and in various bands. By popular demand Steve was a regular performer from 1999-2005 at the Florida Folk Festival, the nation's largest and oldest folk fest. In 2002 Sternberg won an award in the statewide Will Mclean Foundation's Best New Florida Song Contest for "Apalachicola Blues." The song depicts the laid-back, rural fishing village/tourist attraction Apalachicola on the Gulf coast. That song and his "Forgotten Coast Blues" are part of the soundtrack for the documentary "Apalachicola, Our Town" which aired on WFSU-TV in 2004 in the Tallahassee area. One of Sternberg's greatest moments was playing the background music for the silent film "The Flying Ace" in Dec. 2011 and Feb. 2012 which showed at Tallahassee's The Florida Museum of History. He has presented Artist-in-the-School programs for K-12 schools in 14 Florida school districts. Steve has appeared on local TV and has played in house concerts throughout Florida. Since 2010 Sternberg has been playing full-time in retirement homes throughout Florida.
