I started my music journey with the bass fiddle in elementary school where it took me and 2 friends to get my instrument to the auditorium. After that I asked my father if I could continue bass lessons and he said 'why not play six strings instead of four strings, the lessons cost the same'. So I learned to play the guitar.
I went to the University of Georgia in Athens where I saw people dancing to original music that was barely audible and not in tune. It was REM and I thought WOW, this is so cool, I want to be a songwriter.
I began drumming in a band named Cordy Lon. We recorded some demos but it was not to be. I returned to guitar, began writing my own songs and formed a band named Affordable Lawn Care. We recorded a CD but alas it was not to be either.
I then began working with a drummer in a band we call One Too Many. The two of us don't perform much anymore but still love the art of songwriting and getting together to work on original ideas.
I recently released a collection of songs I constructed through GarageBand. It's a solo effort to keep the musical journey going and can be heard at https://rzimmermann.bandcamp.com. I guess I just can't let it go...
