Rene Curbelo

Rene Curbelo isn't just making music; he's channeling a legacy. Born into a musical family, his father, Jose Curbelo, was a prominent Latin bandleader in the 1940s and 50s. From the age of seven, Rene was immersed in classical piano training, eventually leading him to New York City's High School of Music & Arts where he absorbed the eclectic sounds of Classical, Rock, Jazz, and Latin music.

His professional journey began at 17, and even while pursuing a Business Administration degree at the University of Miami, Curbelo's musical talent was undeniable. He broke barriers as the first non-music major accepted into the University of Miami Jazz Band and became a sought-after keyboardist in the Miami music scene, playing with bands like "The Ibis Brothers" and "The Kidds," mastering iconic instruments like the Hammond B3 and ARP synthesizers.

Beyond his formative years, Curbelo's keyboard prowess landed him gigs touring with legendary 60's groups, including The Angels ("My Boyfriend's Back"), The Chiffons ("He's So Fine"), The Crystals ("Da Doo Run Run"), The Shangri-Las ("Leader of the Pack"), The Capitals ("Cool Jerk"), and Vito & The Salutations ("Unchained Melody").

After college, Curbelo explored other professional avenues, ultimately building a successful computer programming company. However, music remained his constant companion. Now, he's returned to his true passion, focusing his energy on composition, production, and recording in his state-of-the-art Digital Pursuit Music studio.

Curbelo's current work reflects his diverse influences, with songs like "My Life Is Good" offering an optimistic outlook, "Better Days Ahead" providing strength in the face of adversity, and "Just Don't Go" capturing the innocence of young love. Drawing inspiration from artists like Donald Fagen of Steely Dan, whose complex compositions and storytelling resonate deeply, and Michael McDonald, whose soulful voice and songwriting captivate, Curbelo’s music is marked by rhythmic complexity, percussive drive, and accessible melodies. With plans to promote his music and a long-term goal of achieving widespread recognition, Rene Curbelo is poised to make a significant impact on the contemporary music landscape.
