FUNCTIONAL MUSIC - WHERE OUR PHILOSOPHY IS IN OUR NAME.

We consistently strive to create Music that Works! Our primary focus is on Hybrid-Orchestral Trailer Music, as well as other instrumental works that are designed to enhance video imagery for a wide spectrum of entertainment needs.

Our history is founded in family and the innate desire to create music. Reggie and Zach Mullis are a father and son team of formally trained musicians that create awe-inspiring Hybrid-Orchestral Trailer Music made available through music libraries and publishers. They also create bespoke compositions for top-line content creators and other end-users.

Reggie built his first home recording studio in 1976 where he recorded numerous soloists, bands, and choirs, while also composing and producing music for local radio advertising. A vocalist and multi-instrumentalist since his youth, Reggie has performed with amateur and professional groups across a vast spectrum of genres. He has also worked as a live sound engineer and technician for more than three decades. With both undergraduate and graduate degrees in business, Reggie is an extremely accomplished professional having managed numerous large organizations at the C-Suite level.

From a very young age, Zach was recognized for his musical aptitude, becoming an accomplished keyboardist, percussionist, and composer over time. As he got older, he began to perform and work with numerous scholastic and independent marching groups through WGI and DCI. Today, Zach works as an audio and lighting designer and technician for multiple groups within those respected programs. Formally trained as both a musician and recording engineer, Zach has some of the best ears in the business with more than 10 years of experience producing and mixing music and creating sound design using Ableton Live.

For the past decade, these two hard-working professionals have built multiple home recording studios, including their principal workspace used today. Formally organized in 2025, Functional Music LLC has created the foundation for these two outstanding music professionals to work together as a unique, collaborative team.
