Melia is a dynamic force in the indie rock scene, celebrated for her captivating lyrics, and exceptional guitar skills. Known as one of the top female indie rock artists today, Melia has carved out a significant niche with her unique sound and compelling performances. Her talent has been recognized with three prestigious awards at the Indie Music Channel Awards: “Best Female Rock Artist” (2012, 2013, 2016), “Best Rock Song” (“Just A Bride” in 2012, “Charge Like A Bull” in 2016), and “Song of the Year” (“Just A Bride”).
Her debut EP, “Soundproof Walls,” received critical acclaim, setting the stage for her follow-up release, “Skeletal Remains,” which came out in December 2015. Recorded at The Magic Shop in NYC, “Skeletal Remains” was produced by the esteemed Kevin Killen, known for his work with David Bowie and Peter Gabriel.
On August 13, 2024, Melia released her latest album, “Feral,” a project that critics are hailing as some of her finest work. Once again collaborating with Kevin Killen, Melia recorded “Feral” at Dreamland Recording Studio in Woodstock, NY. True to her signature style, Melia wrote all the music and lyrics and performed all the vocals and guitar parts herself.
An endorsed artist with leading brands such as Engl Amps, PRS Guitars, Sinister Guitar Picks, GHS Strings, Spectraflex, Earthquaker Devices, and EMG Pickups, Melia's technical prowess and dedication to her craft are evident.
Her journey began with a profound connection to music, sparked by a Green Day concert during their “American Idiot” tour. Although her parents initially made her wait two years before she could take guitar lessons, this delay only fueled her passion. Practicing 6-8 hours a day, Melia quickly mastered the guitar, formed her first band, and began writing and performing her own original music.
In a thrilling moment, Melia was chosen by Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong to perform “Jesus of Suburbia” onstage, an experience that underscored her growing love of the rock music world.
Melia has since performed alongside an impressive roster of bands, including The Offspring, Eve 6, Gaslight Anthem, Our Lady Peace, Walk The Moon, Oberhofer, The Tea Party, Thousand Foot Krutch, Love and Death, Big Wreck, Steve Vai, Twenty One Pilots, New Politics, Fuel, Sick Puppies, Black Star Riders, Asia, Chevelle, Lacuna Coil, The Misfits, Buckcherry, Otep, Drowning Pool, Saliva, Lita Ford, Adam Gontier, Judas Priestess, Daughtry, Nita Strauss and Halestorm.
With a powerful blend of guitar-driven alternative rock and introspective, message-laden lyrics, Melia continues to captivate audiences and inspire with her music. Her live performances, backed by a talented group of musicians, showcase her dedication and exceptional skill, solidifying her place as a standout artist in the indie rock genre.
