I'm Jim Hewitt aka "Diamond Jim". I am a long-time musician and singer-songwriter as well as an experienced recording and mixing engineer. My primary instruments are fiddle, mandolin, and acoustic guitar, while occasionally including electric guitar, electric bass and keyboards in my productions. I also sing my own vocals and often collaborate with other professional musicians to add style and strength to my songs.
Stylistically my songs are in the Americana tradition, ranging from original country western to rock, as well as ballads and fiddle instrumentals. I have played in many bands from Tucson to Denver, as a lead sideman on the violin and mandolin. During my long stay in Tucson I received a TAMMIE (Tucson Area Music Award) in 1999 for Best String Player for my work with indie song writer Terry Pollock (Thunderhead North) and The Blue Prairie Dogs band. My current projects include composing and recording new music and instrumentals intended for film and TV sync, as well as recording and producing albums of original music.
