Katherine Paterson is an award-winning queer indie-folk singer/songwriter based in McKinney, TX. Paterson first began composing songs as gifts for far-flung companions. This evolved into a practice of creating music as a way to navigate life’s myriad moments–especially the more difficult ones. A homing beacon of sorts, Paterson’s music invites you to come find her among past selves, loved ones, grief, dreams, and plants.
Her intimate storytelling is a direct result of her admiration for the songwriting craft of luminaries like Joni Mitchell and Brandi Carlile. She has performed internationally at The Bitter End, Deep Ellum Art Company, Mohawk Austin, and more. She is also the winner of the 2025 Dallas Entertainment Award for "Best Songwriter." Her music has been featured on KXT, KOOP, and various podcasts and blogs.
