Michelle Aldrich-Goldstein writes alternative country songs with an emphasis on personal growth and healing. She grew up in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis, where country-rock music was part of the fabric of the culture. She is inspired by artists of the 1970’s Los Angeles country-rock scene (Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young), alternative country artists (Lucinda Williams, The Jayhawks, Jason Isbell), and artists who blend country and soul music together (Yola, Chris Stapleton, Leon Bridges).
As a child, Michelle was classically trained on the violin and piano. She played the violin in the local youth symphony, as well as in local theater productions. However, as an adult, she stopped playing music altogether to focus on a career in nursing. In late 2010, after not playing music for over 25 years, Michelle purchased a keyboard to re-learn basic piano skills, and from 2014-2021, she performed in several local rock/pop cover bands as a keyboardist and background vocalist.
In late 2021, Michelle began creating original music, and in 2024, she began releasing some of her original music to the public. She was a finalist in the 2024 UK Songwriting Contest, as well as a semi-finalist in the 2024 International Songwriting Competition. While she sings on her tracks, her primary goal is to be a behind-the-scenes, non-performing songwriter.
