David Middleton (aka Akimbo Researcher)

Through Taxi, David uses the moniker AkimboResearcher, but is also professionally known as DM.Hotep.

He is a live performer, composer, arranger, educator, and Grammy nominated guitarist who has three decades of professional performance experience in big bands, jazz combos, and other mixed ensembles of various sizes and genres.

He has been rehearsing, recording, and touring internationally as guitarist for the Sun Ra Arkestra under the direction of Marshall Allen since 2001. In the last few years, since having a daughter, he began accepting more regional performance work in leu of touring musician life. He continues to maximize opportunities to record or perform with many regional and internationally known artists and ensembles, or teach both privately and for conservatory. He continues to accept commissions for masterclasses, artist residencies, and orchestrations of original and existing music for clients as diverse as independent artists, ballet companies, or visual artists.
