Millbrook Session Players

Millbrook Session Players (MSP) are not a traditional band, but a long-standing association of five professional studio musicians. Their roots stretch back to an era defined by analog warmth, artistic risk, and deep musicianship, to the beginnings of digital recording. They absorbed the sounds, disciplines, and studio rigor of that time, carrying those influences forward into the present day. Now, the collective brings decades of perspective, restraint, and intention to every song they create. Based in the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York, specifically Millbrook in Dutchess County, their work reflects a region long known for fostering musical creativity. MSP functions as a collaborative studio collective, co-writing and co-producing original music both for their audience and for licensing across media. Each member contributes not only instrumental mastery but a producer’s ear and songwriter’s sensibility.

Joe Cutrera anchors the group with expressive lead vocals, acoustic guitar, and emotionally grounded songwriting. He has a very passionate style and was nominated for a Grammy Award while fronting ‘Northern Star.’

Alfred Sire brings melodic bass work, multi-instrumental versatility, and compositional depth across guitars and keyboards. Alfred has skills on so many different instruments that whatever part or performance is needed for a song, he always delivers!

John Valenti has been playing electric, acoustic, and 12-string guitars for many years. He has also recorded bass for various acts including ‘Richie Scarlet.’ In addition to musical abilities, John also has years of experience as a top recording and mixing engineer. John has worked with many top producers, such as ‘Paul Orofino’ and ‘Eddie Kramer,’ and can shape any group’s sonic identity. He is the lead producer for most MSP projects, including this album.

Jeff Hollywood is one of the best drummers we’ve ever played with. He brings a rock-steady beat that is the backbone for most of MSP’s songs. He plays guitar and other instruments, bringing more musical depth than the traditional drummer. He’s also an excellent songwriter and recording and mixing engineer, and he mixed ‘Beautiful’ on this release.

Arthur Papanastasiou rounds out the collective with guitar textures (electric, acoustic, 12-string, and classical), keyboard work, and a meticulous approach to recording and arrangement. He loves jazz, rock and playing heavy guitar riffs! Arthur hears things differently than most and his peculiar style often takes shape in unexpected ways.

Together, Millbrook Session Players operate as craftsmen rather than performers chasing the spotlight. Their music is the product of experience, environment, and enduring collaboration, shaped by time and friendship. What unites them is a shared commitment to serving the song above all else.
