Scott Penzak

Originally a practicing retail pharmacist, Scott Penzak has spent over 25 years as a pharmacology researcher and university faculty member. Alongside his professional career, Scott has been writing and recording original songs since he first learned to play the guitar at age 16. Despite his dedication to songwriting, he has not actively pursued opportunities to promote or distribute his music, largely due to the demands of his academic and professional responsibilities. In 1987, Scott co-wrote a song titled Industrial Noise, adapted from a poem he had written for his high school newspaper in 1982. The track was recorded by the Detroit band Funhouse and received airplay on several radio stations, including the Canadian alternative rock station 89X. The following year, in 1988, he wrote Love into Tomorrow, which was recorded by Kate Miller and released on Rainbow Records. In 1991, Scott composed the title song Hero for a local stage production, The Foreseeable Will, written by Gary L. Jurkiewicz. In 1995, he contributed the song Where Does the Train Stop? to the Newbraugh Bros. compilation CD Ride the Train. More recently, his song Whiskey, Tears, and Trains has been licensed multiple times and has received airplay on various internet radio stations. Over the years, Scott has also performed live at venues in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Fort Worth, Texas. Now at a point where he can devote more energy to his creative pursuits, Scott is ready to share his music more widely and explore opportunities to place his songs in settings where they resonate. His music has brought him great personal fulfillment, and he hopes it will bring the same joy to others.
