St. Thomas, UsVI
Daryl was born in New York. He demonstrated his love for music almost immediately when at the age of three he began playing the family piano. His parents were shocked at the quality of what he played despite being so young and never taken any lessons.
In the late 1960's, Daryl and his family relocated to St. Thomas in the beautiful United States Virgin Islands. In 1976, Daryl bought his first guitar and taught himself to play guitar and bass.
Three years later, while attending the then College (now University) of the Virgin Islands (CVI),Daryl was selected to play bass in the band that played for the contestants when the College resumed its annual calypso competition. That event was attended by some influential people in the local music industry who recognized Daryl's talent. This recognition led to him being recruited to play bass for other calypso competitions and the annual Carnival parade. He was also recruited to play with Infinite Love, one of the top local bands. The band reached its peak in 1980 with the release of the album "Love Will Never Die", a mixture of calypso, reggae, and disco music.
In 1981, Infinite Love disbanded and Daryl began playing lead/rhthym guitar for a reggae band called Rebel Action System. The band reached its peak in 1986 when it was chosen as the opening act for top international reggae stars such as Burning Spear and Steel Pulse when they traveled to St. Thomas on tour. Even some members of Steel Pulse complimented Daryl on his rhythm guitar strumming.
In 1987 Daryl left the band and worked on several individual music projects. In 2007, Daryl discovered the great demand for instrumental music and beats and began creating reggae instrumentals/beats. He later expanded to include rap/hiphop and calypso/soca music. He currently has over 200 instrumentals and beats and counting!
