Like haunting lullabies echoing through an arctic dreamscape, Rick Cavalieri's music casts a wistful, wintry spell, at once beautifully eerie and mysteriously moving. With expressive, soul-stirring vocals over spooky, enchanting piano, the Minneapolis-based singer/songwriter/producer's arrangements are often sparse, yet deeply emotive. He draws influence from a wide range of sources, but his piano-centric writing is especially inspired by the vibe of downtempo artists such as Portishead, and the more subdued, ethereal side of The Doors, Pink Floyd, and Nine Inch Nails.
