Karen Bjorklund
Portland, Oregon
As a musician, performer, writer and arranger, Karen Bjorklund has performed with groups on four continents. Whether writing or performing instrumentals or songs, Rock, Pop, Classical, Americana, Country or Celtic, Karen believes that music is about conveying emotion. So her goal is to help the audience feel the emotion and the story in the music.
Instrumentals:
Karen brings that emotion out in instrumentals through tender melodies, playful rhythms and counter melodies, heart-felt supporting harmonies and sometimes feet-vibrating bass - with whatever combination of acoustic, orchestral, electric and electronic instruments works for the emotion and story. Her original instrumentals cross genres, playing with Classical/Orchestral or Celtic (or both), Americana, Country and Pop Rock, among others. A variety of her instrumentals can be found in music libraries.
Musician:
Karen plays a wide variety of instruments from classic to folk (including ethnic instruments like whistle flutes, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, bodhran drums, and lately xylophone). But she's also been known to start creating music (even instrumental music) just by singing it.
