Larry Wurtzel retired from the Copiague Public Schools System in
June of 2011, after a 40 year career as Choral Director. He was the
founder of the well-known Walter G O’Connell Copiague High
School Madrigal Choir and was the Vocal Director in the Copiague
Playhouse throughout most of his career. He received his Bachelor
of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Long Island University in
1971 and 1975 respectively. He has enjoyed a long, diverse musical
career which included recording for Columbia Records with the
“Stony Brook People” under the direction of Neil Diamond. He is still
active as a performer, writer, arranger, conductor, musical director
and teacher. His choral arrangements can be previewed at

different styles.
