"What Child Is This?" by Ray Charles:

"Good King Wenceslas" by Mel Torme:

If you want to make your recordings sound somewhat lo-fi to match the era, go for it, but please don't add scratches and pops that you might hear on old recordings. Era-appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. You must own or control your Master recording to pitch for this opportunity.

Country

NEW LISTING -- RED DIRT COUNTRY SONGS with Male and/or Female Vocals are needed by a Grammy-Award winning Record Producer who has had previous success with TAXI members. He's hunting for songs in ALL tempos in the general stylistic ballpark of songs like:

"The Cowboy Kind" by Curtis Grimes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ_XgB1t8WU

"Hopeless Romantic" by Julia Hatfield
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aq9of5D4eA

"Lonely Street" by Jake Ward
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yangoWUuXQc

"Next Big Thing" by William Clark
Greenhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ruxKTx5lKU

Please submit well-crafted songs with a real cowboy feel to them. Red Dirt Country music is known for having open and honest lyrics that tell a relatable story – so give them exactly that! Your lyrics should be fresh and forward-thinking and not rely too heavily on overused motifs like pick up trucks, drinking beer, and fishin’ holes. Make sure that your song grows with the story and doesn’t stay stagnant! He’s really looking at the lyrics, structure, and the story you tell for this one; so don’t worry too much about production value (Stripped-down demos are okay for this pitch).

The specific deal points will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis directly with the Producer. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, July 26th, 2016. TAXI #S160726CO

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a hard-plugging Nashville Publisher for a charting Major Label Artist who's working on a new record. They're need radio-worthy, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that you'd expect to hear coming from artists like these:

"Shotgun Rider" by Tim McGraw:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkpuLMsDn48

"American Country Love Song" by Jake Owen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnyOOSE0z1c

"That Don't Sound Like You" by Lee Brice:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiyXZhhqWqc

Give them well-structured songs with modern Country melodies, and a visual, engaging, and direct storyline that Nashville begs for! Your chorus needs to be incredibly strong and ready for radio. A solid, super confident vocal performance will help get the Publisher and Artist excited about cutting your song. Your demo quality should be competitive with songs being pitched on the Row.

The specific deal points will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis directly with the Publisher. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Publisher - No full critiques. NEW LISTING -- VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL (no covers) CHRISTIAN COUNTRY SONGS recorded in the 1960s and 1970s are needed by an A-List Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing placements. Both Male and Female Vocals and All Tempos will work for this pitch. If you've got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with artists like (but definitely not limited to) those below, you might have exactly what this publisher needs:

"Jesus" by Johnny Cash:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Fu3n6md-IY

"Why Me?" By Kris Kristofferson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U7Okcu5rX0

"Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven" by Loretta Lynn:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FMDyFJPCZw

"Family Bible" by George Jones:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_MMmzkNkKc

"Letter to Heaven" by Dolly Parton:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG9he_1QqHQ

Quoting the Publisher: "I'm looking for anything that's Country and Spiritual from that '60s -'70s era. It doesn't have to sound like those references. It just needs to be from that era and spiritual in nature."

Please send them old masters or demos of your original (no covers) Christian Country Songs that were written and recorded in the 1960s and 1970s. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today's broadcast quality! Many TAXI members with nothing more than good demo recordings have been signed by this publisher. They're much more interested finding music that sounds authentic to the time period!

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that is authentically from a particular time period. The Publisher pays you upfront for the master rights and the Publisher's share of the copyright, and you keep the Writer's Share of the publishing and earn income from performance royalties paid by your Performing Rights Organization.

This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who've been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today's market!

Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, July 30th, 2016. TAXI #S160730CC

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY HITS with Male Vocals are needed by a Nashville-based Music Publisher that's working hard to find great songs for an Award-winning Country Star's next album. He's on the prowl for original, one-of-a-kind Country Songs in All-Tempos that could be found on a playlist with references like these:

"Mind Reader" by Dustin Lynch:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGvWrJDzcg0

"Mr. Misunderstood" by Eric Church:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOuF3k_-asA

"John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" by Keith Urban:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdu8M2val_w

Give him well-structured songs with a fresh melody, visually descriptive lyric, a relatable storyline, and an unforgettable chorus that's ready for radio. You'd be wise to have a solid, super confident vocal performance to get the Publisher and Artist excited about cutting your song. Your demo quality should be competitive with songs being pitched on the Row.

The specific deal points will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis directly with the Publisher. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by a Nashville Publisher for a hot new band that's on the verge of breaking big. The search is on to find them radio-friendly, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would work for artists like these:

"Fly" by Maddie and Tae:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfDr_7LN-Ew

"Lipstick" by Runaway June:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRflFzMiDhk

"Peter Pan" by Kelsea Ballerini:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmU0b8bxlG8

Quoting the Publisher: "They're a buzz-worthy female act that has Nashville's attention, so we're looking for smash hits that will cement their place. We need songs with some substance, but still radio-friendly."

You heard the man! Give them songs that fire on all cylinders, with a super catchy melody, a visually detailed lyric, a fresh storyline, and chorus that sounds like it will stick at the top of the charts for weeks on end! Because it's early in this band's career arc, this is a great time to become part of their "camp" of first-call songwriters.

The specific deal points will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis directly with the Publisher. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Publisher - No full critiques. Genres that could work for this pitch are (but not limited to): Acoustic Singer/Songwriter, Pop, Country, Electronic, Folk, Punk, R&B, Rock, and any other sub-genre you heart desires!

Give them well-recorded versions of this now Public Domain classic, with instrumentation that fits the genre you choose to submit, and a great, genre-appropriate vocal performance. Anything from stripped-down guitar/vocal versions, all the way up to Big Band could potentially work for this. Emotionally upbeat and warm are two moods that come to mind. NEW LISTING -- “FUTURE GARAGE” ELECTRONIC SONGS and/or INSTRUMENTALS are needed for several Direct-to-Supervisor, Non-Exclusive placements in a cool Indie Film. If you submit a song for this pitch, both Male and/or Female vocals are welcome. They’re looking for rhythmically interesting Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could be found on a playlist with these references:

“You & Me” by Disclosure ft. Eliza Doolittle (Flume Remix): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUkkaqSNduU

“Out of Hand” by Shlohmo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8k-nOA-RnE

“TBD” by SBTRKT ft. Sampha:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRwh7wn1xf4

“Been so True” by Sepalcure:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PITmv8RGGg

TAXI Tip: You’d be really smart to listen to all the references so you can get a feel for the range of what could work for this pitch. The Supervisor is NOT looking for clones, but IS looking for music that is in this ballpark!

Give them hip, forward-thinking Songs and/or Instrumentals that are rhythmically and melodically engaging, that use trend-setting production techniques and sounds that push the boundaries of Electronic music. It’s all about the “cool” factor for this pitch! If you submit a Song, the vocal performance should be stylistically in line with the textural/effect-laden approach that defines this genre. Music that doesn’t compete with dialog will likely do best, so please be sure your submissions aren’t too frenetic or overly distracting.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or their music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Also, do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this use is $200. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also keep 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a person hand-picked by the Music Supervisor. No full critiques. UPLIFTING POP INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a NON-Exclusive, Music Licensing Company for a documentary-style sports-based TV series that needs music for celebratory moments. They're searching for contemporary Mid-to-Up-Tempo, Pop Instrumental Cues that have a nice lift into a big anthemic chorus. Imagine what might work in a scene where the show's young hero wins another competition and gets to revel in that glory. Please listen to the following references the company gave us to get in the general stylistic range of what they're looking for:

"This One's For You" by David Guetta ft. Zara Larsson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoHnffhBwqs

"Avalanche" by Fletcher:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS85BdJUGWE

"Ride" By twenty one pilots (Especially at 1:01):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw-0pbY9JeU

Although the references have vocals, please give them only Instrumentals for this pitch.

Please send them Pop Cues that sound more or less like they were inspired by current radio hits. The more uplifting, exhilarating, and anthemic, the better! Modern sounds and production are important for this pitch. So are melodies that telegraph the struggle that led to victory, and the ultimate relishing of that victory. We've never used the word "relish" in a TAXI Listing before – this is a first! If you don’t want to find yourself in a pickle (sorry, we couldn’t help it), build your Cues around a basic melodic theme and quickly build it up from there. Build it until it explodes into that anthemic section that makes the show’s viewers get a lump in their throats as they watch the protagonist win yet another medal. After you build it up, you can break it back down, then build it back up again, and end it with a crescendo and a big, buttoned/stinger ending.

Please submit Instrumental Cues that are at least two minutes long with good edit points and non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced tracks in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, July 24th, 2016. NEW LISTING -- ELECTRONIC DANCE INSTRUMENTAL CUES (aka EDM) are needed by a Music Library with global distribution and a long history of awesome Film and TV placements. They're eager to find rhythmically pulsing, Mid-to-Up-Tempo EDM Cues that could be found on the same playlists as acts like (but not limited to):

Calvin Harris:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y1hSUyjNTA

Avicii:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHHLHGNpCSA

Zedd:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1a7o44WxNo

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch.

Please submit energetic Instrumental Cues with a believable, contemporary EDM sound, with great builds, engaging melodic hooks, and a big chorus section. Build your submissions around a catchy central melodic theme, and keep it interesting by layering electronic elements in and out as your piece progresses to keep it dynamic and forward moving. Short intros, good edit points, and non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best for this pitch.

Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 50% of any applicable sync fees and 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Publisher's share. Do not submit any material for this pitch that is already signed to any other libraries or catalogs. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this pitch.

Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, July 24th, 2016. TAXI #Y160724EC

NEW LISTING -- Old School-Style SPY INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a really large media company for placements in several projects, including hit cable TV shows, other shows on their own network, and online media. This rapidly growing industry giant is building its own In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $500 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. On top of the $500 per track fee, you will also keep 100% of the Writer’s share of the publishing and make applicable performance income through your PRO every time your Instrumental is used in any of their projects! They’re looking hard to find Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that you’d expect to hear on a playlist with these references:

“The Mod Squad Theme” by Al Caiola: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2gewbKLPBY

“Our Man Flint Theme” by Elliott Fisher: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWqyVkyfgPw

“Shot In The Dark” by Jimmy Haskell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emOC419NnV4

Give them James Bond-esque Instrumentals that have a throwback vibe, with authentic sounding instrumentation. Use the references above to get in the ballpark of the instrumentation that could work, but don’t limit yourself. Big Band Jazz with Orchestral elements, or a Surf Rock inspired approach will all work for this pitch. Anything that sounds synthetic, MIDI-driven, or stiff won’t work well for this pitch. Imagine your submissions used to comically support a sneaky or undercover-based scene. That’s what they need!

All submissions should be at least 3:00 to 3:30 minutes in length, with good edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This new, in-house Library will pay an initial buyout fee of $500 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. CONTEMPORARY POP/ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a very successful, globally distributed Production Music Library. They're looking for fresh, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Pop/Rock Cues that could be heard on a playlist with bands like (but not limited to):

Walk The Moon:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JCLY0Rlx6Q

Young The Giant:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAsTlnjvetI

Two Door Cinema Club:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpCcJY-rJSs

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch.

Please give them well-crafted Pop/Rock Cues with plenty of mainstream appeal. Your submissions should have a feel-good party vibe, while weaving in hooky melodic lines to keep it memorable and fun throughout. Typical Rock band instrumentation with the addition of current sounding electronic elements could give you an upper hand for this pitch. Layer instrumentation in and out as your Cue progresses to avoid anything sounding too linear or repetitive. An AABA structure often works best for Cues, but it's NOT a necessity.

Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes long. Non-Faded, Buttoned Endings, and good edit points are recommended. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use the references only as a general guide for tempo, texture, and overall mood. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, so please be sure the Cues you submit to this pitch are NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch to this listing. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Although the references may have vocals in them, they are only looking for Instrumentals for this pitch! Please submit ‘80s sounding Rock Instrumentals that use well-performed, authentic sounding rock band instrumentation, with great, energetic guitar riffs that deliver plenty of forward movement. Your submissions should help provide a somewhat silly and slightly cheesy vibe to any scene they’re placed in, so let’s bring back the days when ridiculous clothing and teased hair was all the rage in Rock music.

All submissions should be at least 3:00 long, with good edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Give them dramatic, victorious-sounding Instrumental Cues with full string sections, triumphant horns, epic percussion, and an overall sound that’s filled with a grandiose sound of victory. Your instrumentation should sound authentic and believable! The addition of electro elements in your pieces is fine. Anything material that sounds dated, stiff, or obviously MIDI-driven will not work for this pitch. NEW LISTING -- POST ROCK and EPIC POST ROCK INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS are needed by a high quality Production Music Library with lots of placements in TV Shows, Feature Film Trailers, and Commercials. This company pays an upfront Buy Out Fee. Very few TAXI members are in this catalog (so far!), so this is a great opportunity to develop a new relationship.

They're looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Post Rock and Epic Post Rock Instrumentals in the general stylistic ballpark of acts like (but not limited to): Exitmusic, Grass House, and The National. Please listen to these references to get yourself in the wheelhouse of what they need:

"Passage" by Exitmusic:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmtcrv2ImF4

"The Night" by Exitmusic:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecGIxdeWKrY

"And Now For the Wild" by Grass House:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiWltWVpdYc

"Spinning As We Turn" by Grass House:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIPf71OxpRU

"I Need My Girl" by The National:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-Tod1_tZdU

"Bloodbuzz Ohio" by The National:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfySK7CLEEg

Although the references may have vocals in them, they are only looking for Instrumentals for this pitch!

Listening to several examples of the referenced acts could go a very long way in helping you understand what this company is looking for! Don't JUST lock in on the references. Some songs are more ethereal and trippy, some are more beat driven but still have the cool textures, rich guitar tones, lush reverbs and delays.

Give them Instrumentals that stick to one central theme and mood. In other words, don't try to "score" a scene with different motifs or moods in the same piece. Sticking to one idea/melody in each piece makes it easier for Music Supervisors and Editors to use your material. Weaving innovative parts and sounds in and out to create a mood that will enhance a scene is the objective for this pitch. What might you hear as a camera pans over a desolate, foreboding landscape in an episode of Vice? What would you hear in a documentary scene showing abject poverty in a third world country? What would be a great sonic backdrop when looking out at the plains of Africa during a monsoon season sunset? Those are just some of the types of scenes your music could potentially be used to enhance!

Quoting the company's owner: "We need pieces with interesting sounds, textures, and production. Nothing too polished, and definitely no MIDI based guitar parts. All sounds should be real, organic instruments with some really cool effects (delays, reverb, etc.) that create interesting textures and moods."

TAXI Tip: This company's owners are guitar players who normally do these types of tracks, so the bar is set kind of high on this pitch. If your material is strong, they've got no shortage of places to license it to!

All Instrumentals should be at least 2 minutes long and have non-faded, natural endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a guide for texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers a buyout deal. You get paid an upfront fee for your tracks. This company is also known for reaching out to their composers for more material in the same vein! The Music Library gets 100% EXCLUSIVE ownership of the copyright and master. You'll keep the writer's share, and get performance royalties directly from your PRO. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Because this is an Exclusive deal, please do not submit any material for this pitch that is signed to any other library or publisher!

Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, July 30th, 2016. TAXI #Y160730PR

NEW LISTING -- TENSION-BASED, MINIMAL UNDERSCORE CUES are needed by a successful Production Music Library that's signed and placed lots of music for TAXI members. They're on the hunt for suspenseful, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Instrumental Cues that you'd hear in tense moments in shows like Quantico, The 100, How to Get Away With Murder, etc., etc., etc.

Please listen to the following references to get a general idea of what could work for this pitch:

Quantico (0:43 to 1:31):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4i616OU3SVM

The 100 (0:00 to 1:13):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJV1ext0sRE

How to Get Away With Murder (9:02 to 10:36):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRu4gtQfmeU

Please submit subtle, tension-filled Instrumental Underscore Cues that use fresh, current sounding samples and production techniques to create a great bed of uneasy tension. Be sure your Cues deliver forward movement with the layering of various elements and instrumentation to keep them from sounding too linear or one-dimensional. As always, please avoid submitting anything that's frenetic, stiff, or obviously MIDI-driven.

Your submissions should be at least 2:00 minutes in length, with easy edit points and Buttoned endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe.

Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, August 7th, 2016. TAXI #Y160807UC

NEW LISTING -- CURRENT RAP/HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a really large media company for placements in several projects, including hit cable TV shows, other shows on their own network, and online media. This rapidly growing industry giant is building its own In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $500 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. Nipsey Hustle:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jFLExFMABA

Although the references have vocals, please submit instrumentals only for this pitch.

Give them hard-hitting, current sounding Hip-Hop Instrumental Cues with a rhythmically engaging approach from top to bottom. Craft your submission around a main melodic idea, while maintaining interest throughout by adding and removing layers of instrumentation to keep them dynamically interesting and forward moving. Please avoid harsh, overly bombastic, or frenetic sounds that could distract from a scene's dialogue.

NEW LISTING -- ACTION INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Music Library with a super impressive list of great placements in Film and TV. They're open to Orchestral, Electronic, Rock, or hybrids of the aforementioned styles. Give them epic, Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues that would work great for an awesome car chase or any other high-energy action related scene.

Quoting the Library: "Music must be Up-Tempo and sit well behind action and chase scenes. The most useful Cues to our clients are those that twist and turn throughout so that editors can have interesting options in the piece to cut a scene to: some ideas could be builds, modulations, dramatic drop downs and re-entry of music, etc. Absolute highest quality sample libraries/production only."

Imagine the music you'd hear during a heart-pounding scene with a suspect being chased, or a fight to the death with aliens or Transformers. That's what they need for this pitch! Give them plenty of rhythmic and melodic intensity to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Instrumentation can vary, but should be something that's really current sounding, with convincing use of sample libraries.

All submissions should be at least 2 minutes long with easy edit points and climactic, stinger endings. Broadcast Quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, and an 80/20 split in the Writer's favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library! VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL (no covers) 1970s to early 1980s PUNK SONGS are needed by an A-List Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing opportunities. Both Male and Female Vocals will work for this pitch. If you've got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with bands like (but definitely not limited to) these, you might have exactly what this awesome publisher needs:

"Rock 'n' Roll High School" by the Ramones:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnzzMZWsx9w

"Rock the Casbah" by The Clash:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ9r8LMU9bQ

"Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqEh8OBQfmY

"New Rose" by The Damned:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTfyUqVqX-0

"Masterplan" by the Plasmatics:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1KyQ-1kDbk

"God Save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvMxqcgBhWQ

Please do not copy or rip off these artists or their songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as reference to the stylistic ballpark your material should be in!

Please send them old masters or demos of your original (no covers) Punk Rock Songs that were written and recorded in the 1970s and early 1980s. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today's broadcast quality! Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings!

This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today's market!Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS!

Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, July 24th, 2016. TAXI #Y160724PU

NEW LISTING -- BLUESY, SOULFUL SONGS are URGENTLY needed for a NON-Exclusive, $5,000-$10,000 Direct-to-Supervisor placement in a Hit TV show. They’re looking for emotionally evocative Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that could be found on a playlist with artists like James Bay, Alabama Shakes, Leon Brides, etc., etc., etc. Take a listen to the references the Music Supervisor himself gave us to get an idea of the range of styles that could work for this pitch:

“Let It Go” by James Bay:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsPq9mzFNGY

“I Found You” Alabama Shakes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GHlmHIr_dI

“River” by Leon Bridges:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Hegd4xNfRo

“Ain’t No Shame” by Anthony Hamilton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFPhm1PIQtY

“Anybody Seen My Girl” by Keb Mo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K88FvWmaN60

“Woman’s World” by BJ The Chicago Kid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTjjAjy-53Y

“Brown Skin Girl” by Leon Bridges: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk2duLxAmFE

Dig through your catalog and send them original songs that are well-played, with a vocal performance that’s teeming with soulful emotion. Stripped down (acoustic guitar/vocal), or a fuller production with additional instrumentation are welcome. Your songs can have some retro influence, but they shouldn’t sound too dated.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you’d expect to hear form one of the references above. Universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places could make your songs more appealing, but they’re not absolutely necessary for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

CONTEMPORARY R&B SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by the Director of A&R at a Major Music Publishing Company that's always landing cuts and hits with many of the biggest names in contemporary music! Please submit innovative, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on the same playlist as artists like (but not limited to):

"Drop" by Chloe x Halle:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbRl8BLILmI

"Here" by Alessia Cara:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKp2CrfmVfw

"Did I" by Kehlani:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3c61jEMu_4

Give them polished sounding R&B Songs that have a believable, fresh, and current vibe, with awesome melodies and a killer chorus. You'd be wise to have an impressive vocal performance to help get them excited about signing your song and getting it cut by a major artist. Your overall demo presentation and production techniques need to be competitive for this pitch.

Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, July 25th, 2016. TAXI #Y160725RB

Rap / Hip Hop
Return to List of Categories

NEW LISTING -- HIGH-ENERGY, RAP/HIP-HOP SONGS with Pop Appeal and Male Vocals are needed by an A-List Music Library with a killer list of great Film/TV Placements. This library hasn't run a listing with us in quite a few years, so chances are you don't have anything in their catalog yet. This is a great opportunity to start a new relationship! They're itching to find contemporary, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on a playlist with these references:

"Dance Off" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwsR5LC0mII

"No Interruption" by Hoodie Allen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t431MAUQlQ

"Knock Knock" by Mac Miller:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bMmhKz6KXg

Submit commercially appealing Songs that have a rhythmically and melodically engaging beat, with a lively vocal performance that generally reflects the style of the references above. Your submissions should have a compelling chorus section that's either sung, or rapped, with a catchy hook-driven quality. Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that's commonly heard in the Rap/Hip Hop genre.

Universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places will make your songs more appealing, but they're not absolutely necessary.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, and an 80/20 split in the Writer's favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library! Please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit.

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, August 8th, 2016. TAXI #Y160808RP

Rock
Return to List of Categories

CONTEMPORARY ALT ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals and TONS of mainstream Pop appeal are needed by a Major Record Label for a newly signed artist that's working on his debut album. They're looking high and low to find radio-worthy, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that sound like they'd be right at home on records by acts like (but not limited to):

X Ambassadors:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjbBY5z-IxI

The Strumbellas:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9kXstb9FF4

American Authors:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIpwuvEBiZI

Please submit commercially appealing Alt Rock songs, with fresh melodies, radio-friendly hooks in all sections of the song, and a strong chorus that's instantly engaging. A confident vocal and compelling overall demo production will give you the upper hand for this pitch. All deals will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis.

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, July 25th, 2016. TAXI #Y160725AR

Singer / Songwriter
Return to List of Categories

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY FEMALE SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS are needed by the V.P. of Creative at a Major Music Publishing Company for the chart-topping, Major Label artists they pitch to on a daily basis. They're currently looking for Songs in All-Tempos that would work for artists like:

Sara Bareilles:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q5aMVLKcQA

Colbie Caillat:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hCDlXKPPiY

Ingrid Michaelson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsvKT8vsgF4

Songs can range from introspective piano-driven songs to emotionally upbeat acoustic guitar-driven songs about life, love, relationships of all kinds, and all the usual topics that appeal to the cream of the crop female Singer/Songwriters. This Publisher is willing listen to stripped-down, piano/vocal or guitar/vocal demos, as well as fully fleshed out arrangements.

Though these artists are considered Singer/Songwriters, their more recent releases lean a little more Pop in their production, so you'd be smart to submit songs that lend themselves to Mid-to-Up-Tempo songs that could be produced in that style. Ballads may not be the way to go unless you've got something strong enough to know Adele off the charts.

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Thursday, August 4th, 2016. TAXI #S160804SS

World / Ethnic Music

NEW LISTING -- TRADITIONAL SOUNDING WORLD MUSIC (Songs and/or Instrumentals) are needed by a 5-Star, Exclusive Music Licensing Company that has a great track record of placing music by TAXI members in Film, TV, and Commercials. They're open to (ANY and ALL forms of) African, German, Middle Eastern, Greek/Mediterranean, and Italian Music.

Please submit well-crafted Songs and/or Instrumentals that capture the true spirit of the Country/Region/Continent you choose to submit. Ensemble size can vary from something small, to a fuller production. If you submit a song with vocals, please be sure your lyrics are authentic, no matter what region your music comes from or the style of music you submit. We're pretty sure that universal lyrics might not be as important as usual for this pitch, but you'd still be smart to avoid profanity, and maybe even political-based lyrics. Appropriate sounding broadcast quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. The Publisher will get the Publisher's share, and you'll get the Writer's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity.

Please submit one to three Songs and/or Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, August 1st, 2016. TAXI #Y160801WO

The Problem TAXI Hasn't Solved

Dear Passengers,

Just in case you've been on vacation or under a rock this summer, you may not have noticed how incredibly great our Industry Listings are! No hype, just the truth.

Eighteen months ago, some members were dropping out of TAXI because we didn't have enough Instrumental opportunities for them. The industry has clearly swung back to Instrumentals because of all the Reality TV Shows, and now they can't seem to get enough!

But here's the most exciting part of this exploding demand for Instrumental music: TAXI is now getting TONS of music requests from huge production companies that are building their own In-House Music Libraries. We've already begun working with two big companies in the last month, and we can't seem to find them music fast enough!

The requests are pouring in because they've got to stock entire libraries with thousands of Instrumentals and Songs. They're basically starting from scratch and they want to ramp up in a hurry! It's a different animal than when we help other music libraries freshen up their catalogs or fill in particular genres.

These giant production companies need thousands of pieces of music, and they can't solicit it online because they don't want to spend the money to build an A&R department to screen it all.

That's why TAXI was created, and these large production companies are pretty darn happy that we can handle the load and find them what they need! Yay us, and yay you!

The really cool part is that the music going into those In-House Libraries will be used on virtually all of the shows the companies produce, as well as their digital and online content. It's a very exciting time for our members.

But Here's a Problem We Can't Solve...

The case of the inattentive musician! Here's an example: I got a call from the CEO of an A-List Music Library yesterday. He offered a deal to a TAXI member, but when the member found out the library's deal was exclusive, he or she passed on the deal.

The library's CEO was a little ticked off. Not enraged, but he called to let me know this happens with our members somewhat regularly. The listing very clearly said the company offered an exclusive deal! It even went as far as asking members to not submit material that was signed to any other publishers. The listing couldn't have been any more clear!

The member wasted the submission fee, and the music library CEO wasted his time as well.

The person who didn't read the listing carefully made a bad impression on the CEO of that company, and the incident (and others like it) didn't help the image that CEO has of our members as a whole. We want our members to be perceived as professionals!

Another example:

A TAXI member called to complain that we didn't have many Rap/Hip Hop opportunities. While we had only one listing asking for Hip Hop songs, we had several more looking for Hip Hop Instrumentals! The Hip Hop Instrumental requests were under the Instrumental category.

We've never been able to solve the problem of the people who don't at least skim all the TAXI Industry Listings. And we've never been able to solve the problem of members who don't read the Listings carefully.

We're entering into a renaissance period of sorts at TAXI. Those who pay attention will benefit greatly! Those who don't pay attention are going to miss some pretty incredible opportunities!

Put your phones down, turn off Pokémon Go, and focus on the music career you've always wanted because we're handing it to you on a silver platter! Check out this incredibly robust batch of 35 new opportunities. Tons of instrumentals, and plenty of other great stuff as well. Check them out from top to bottom so you don't miss anything!

Talk to you soon,
Michael

CUSTOM CRITIQUES

If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.
Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.
For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
