NEW LISTING -- VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL (no covers) of 1960’s – 1970’s Male “Celtic Blues” Artists who would fall in general category of Van Morrison are needed by an A-List Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing opportunities. If you’ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with Van Morrison’s greatest hits, you might have exactly what this awesome publisher needs:

"Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfmkgQRmmeE

"Moondance" by Van Morrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lFxGBB4UGU

"Tupelo Honey" by Van Morrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DbTIKHYwog

Van Morrison is pretty singular in his style and sound, and his genre has been called everything from “Celtic Blues,” “Celtic Jazz,” “Celtic Soul,” “Celtic R&B,” and Rock, so it’s pretty hard to call him just one thing. To state this in its most easily understood form, this publisher gets requests from Music Supervisors who ask, “Do you have anything old in that Van Morrison vein?”

So that’s what they need, old recordings from that time period that sound like they are influenced by Mr. Morrison, but are NOT clones or rip offs!

You can submit old masters or demos for this pitch. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings! They’re much more interested finding music that sounds authentic to the time period!

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that is authentically from a particular time period. The Publisher pays you upfront for the master rights and the Publisher’s share of the copyright, and you keep the Writer’s Share of the publishing and earn income from performance royalties paid by your Performing Rights Organization.

This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market!

Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, September 4th, 2016. TAXI #Y160904CB

Please submit engaging Mid-to-Up-Tempo Cues that could be found on a playlist with these references:

Halsey:

Banks:

Lapsley:

Although the references have vocals please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch.

Please submit slick, modern, rhythmically and melodically interesting Cues that generally reflect the references above. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

NEW LISTING -- EDGY RAP/HIP-HOP SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by THURSDAY for a $1,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Supervisor placement in a new TV Series that looks like it could be a hit! They’re looking for gritty, Mid-Tempo Rap/Hip Hop Songs that would appeal to fans of artists like (but not limited to) Future, Desiigner, Travis Scott etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get the general vibe of what could work for this Supervisor:

WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“F*ck Up Some Commas” by Future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0G04bgZHwc

“Panda” by Desiigner:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5ONTXHS2mM

"Stick Talk" by Future:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXGORPXI6QQ

"Bandz" by Travis Scott:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB_3gSmPQto

Please submit edgy Rap/Hip Hop Songs with contemporary beats, lots of bottom end, plenty of street cred, and a gritty, hard-hitting chorus that will add to the scene’s gravitas. Lyric themes can be about anything that you’d typically hear in the Rap/Hip Hop world, but without the profanity. Your vocal performance should have plenty of authentic street cred. Please, do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe. Do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Note: This Listing is similar to TAXI Listing #U160825RP. It’s for the same scene in the same show. The Supervisor STILL hasn’t found the perfect song yet, so he’s digging deeper and they’ve increased the sync fee, which tells us they’re looking really hard to find the perfect thing! If you submitted to TAXI #U160825RP, please submit other/new material for this pitch.

The estimated license fee for this is $1,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights (no publishing splits), plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Thursday, September 1st, 2016. TAXI #U160901HR

NEW LISTING -- POP-FRIENDLY RAP/HIP-HOP SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for a Direct-to-Music-Supervisor, NON-Exclusive, (up to) $100,000 placement in a BIG Budget Feature Film, for use in a main montage scene, as well as some sort of “thematic capacity.” They’re looking for lively, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that generally fit the style and vibe of these references:

“Keep On Keeping On” by Travie McCoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QDECwqKE0g

“Coast 2 Coast” by Sammy Adams:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JUym8aTx5A

“So Good” by B.O.B.:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoBP24I2lwA

“My House” by Flo Rida:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo35R9zQsAI

“Opposite Of Adults” by Chiddy Bang: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep1ilHpTvSM

Please submit fun, emotionally upbeat Rap/Hip Hop Songs that are rhythmically and melodically compelling, with catchy melodic hooks throughout, and a super engaging chorus that leans more towards the Pop side of the genre. Your submissions can have more of an Urban Dance Pop feel, as long as they still have a strong Urban influence. Lyric themes can vary, but should be inventive, with interesting wordplay that you’d expect to hear from somebody like the references above. Universal lyrics that avoid specific names, dates, times, brands, and places could make your songs more usable, but they’re not absolutely necessary. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

NOTE: We double-checked to make sure the sync fee could actually be as much as $100,000. Our experience has been that sync fees in that range are usually for “known” acts or hit songs. Unknown acts or songs often get something in the $20,000 - $50,000 range for a big placement like this. Our source told us that the numbers for this are high because the song would be used in a “main montage, as well as in some sort of thematic capacity.” No matter how it shakes out, this is a really juicy opportunity.

This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also keep 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. No publisher splits! You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a person handpicked by the Music Supervisor. No full critiques. All submissions must be received no later than Tuesday, September 6th, 2016. They’re looking for energetic, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be heard a playlist with artists like (but not limited to) Jay-Z, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the references we got from them to get an idea of what could work for this pitch:

WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“Ni**as In Paris” by Jay-Z & Kanye West: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miO5pZr-gOk

“No Church In The Wild” by Kanye West: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJt7gNi3Nr4

“Alright” by Kendrick Lamar:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-48u_uWMHY

NOTE: Don’t limit yourself, these are just examples of what could work! They are not looking for clones or sound-a-likes!

Keep the party moving, with lively, rhythmically engaging songs that reflect the energetic vibe of the references above, with a great beat, and a vocal performance that commands attention. Please avoid Rap/Hip-Hop Songs with a laidback/chill vibe for this pitch. Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you’d expect to hear from artists in the ballpark of the references, delivered in a current style. Universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places will make your songs more usable, but they’re not absolutely necessary. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for feel, texture, tone, and vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The sync fee for this is $300. Give them well-crafted Songs that sound like a believable Rap act, with an obvious "West Coast" vibe. Your beat should be rhythmically and melodically interesting, with plenty of ear-candy to keep the audience engaged. Give them live performances that are well-performed from start to finish, with acoustic guitar as the primary instrument. Your vocals should be great as well, with a confident and well-executed performance. Although they're looking for the overall performance to sound live, your recording quality still needs to sound good. MOODY, STRIPPED-DOWN, ACOUSTIC (Piano and/or Guitar) SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Music Supervisor-Owned Music Licensing Company that has tons of great placements in Film and TV. Take a listen to the following references to get an idea of the wide range that will work for this pitch:

"Lost Boy" by Ruth B:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58TBZnvyGwQ

"Hero of War" by Rise Against:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DboMAghWcA

Please submit emotionally compelling, stripped-down Singer/Songwriter Songs performed with an acoustic guitar or piano, and an emotionally compelling vocal performance. Your songs should be well-crafted from start to finish, with fresh melodies, compelling hooks in all sections of the song, and a chorus that delivers a deep emotional impact. Lyric themes can vary, but should be moody and something that would sound appropriate in the Singer/Songwriter genre.

TAXI Tip: The referenced songs were given to us by the Listing company, and we know that lyric in Hero of War is pretty specific. They're NOT looking for lyrics like that so much as they are looking for the overall, stripped-down production heard in the song. No specific lyric themes were requested, but lyrics that don't mention names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity generally stand a better chance of getting used in TV shows and films.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists/bands or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Dear Passengers,

TAXI member Jimmy Carvalho’s Forum post below tells a story that we hear over and over again. We couldn’t be more proud to have been the catalyst behind Jimmy’s growing success. His personal commitment and the help he’s gotten from his fellow TAXI members have much to do with Jimmy’s success.

The full post is too long for this email, so I’ve included a little bit of the beginning, and the last paragraph as well. Click the link below to read the entire post. I think you might find yourself saying, “Wow, he sounds pretty similar to me!”

And don’t forget to read all of the 35 new Industry Listings we just posted today!

my taxi story.. i just must share .. so good for me so far

Well as some of us might relate, I suddenly found myself getting older and gaining some weight. (LOL) So I did what most people do and jumped on a treadmill. As I walked and walked in a daze, I found myself getting really bored. So, I grabbed my IPhone to troll around YouTube for some interesting videos and mainly to keep my mind off how much I hate walking on that treadmill.

One day, I stumbled upon a TAXI TV YouTube video and found myself watching the full episodes, CRAVING MORE. Needless to say there were many more and I started walking away my extra pounds. I will say, I wasn’t completely convinced this was a legit operation with all the scams I’ve seen in this world (especially coming straight out of Los Angeles). Sooooo... I WAS a very hard sell at this point, but remained interested and proceeded to log in to the LIVE shows with the chat on USTREAM Mondays nights.

So, I researched and researched for almost 2 years, as I was somewhat hypnotized by these darn TAXI TV shows for some reason. This is I think my fourth year, and now “just this year” I’ve had 10+ placements to date (that I know of) and my first “PAID royalty BMI statement” came in just last month. Also, I now have over 35 tracks in [production music] libraries and written over 150 pieces. And again, this is completely because I joined TAXI and became a part of the community. I won’t lie there were moments where I was going to give up. But I now see this will easily take me in the direction I craved for the rest of my life... (Click here to read the whole story!)

CUSTOM CRITIQUES

If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.
Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.
For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
