Adult Contemporary
Return to List of Categories

NEW LISTING -- ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS with Female Vocals and some Alt-Pop influences are needed by an emerging, Major Label Artist with an amazing voice. BTW, when we say, “emerging,” we mean she’s already won The Voice and has had a Top 20 Single and is looking to really take off! Please listen to the references our source gave us to get an idea of the ballpark of what would work for this artist:

“Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” by Adele:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk4BbF7B29w

“Piece by Piece” by Kelly Clarkson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqCqYP7hDWI

Please submit songs with top-notch songwriting, powerhouse vocal melodies, and a hit-worthy, hook-driven chorus. This lady has talent for days, so virtually nothing will be too vocally challenging for her! But, if you’d really like to give yourself an edge, submit songs that allow her to highlight her talent in an authentic, non-gimmicky way. She’s got a great voice, but she’s more like an edgy version of Rachel Platten than a vocal gymnast like Mariah Carey. Lyric themes should be a tad more mature than typical Pop songs, but still commercially viable and radio-ready.

Your demo should be competitive enough to get the label and the artist excited about cutting your song. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016. TAXI #S161005AC

NEW LISTING -- ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROCK SONGS are needed by a Multi, Multi, Multi-Platinum, Multi-Grammy--and every other award you can think of--winning MEGA-BAND for their next album. They’re looking for Mid-To-Up Tempo Songs that have the potential to rocket to Number One and stay on the top of the charts for weeks on end! Please listen to the references to get some ideas of the range of styles that could work for this band:

“Counting Stars” by OneRepublic:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT_nvWreIhg

“Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktvTqknDobU

“She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIjVuRTm-dc

Send upbeat, solid songs with great structure, fresh, well-crafted lyric ideas, lots of ear candy in all sections, and of course, a killer chorus that has such a massive hook that it’s an undeniable hit. Your song should have tons of radio appeal and an alternative, nostalgic Rock edge, but packaged in sort of A/C wrapper so it appeals to a more adult demographic without sounding dated.

Your vocal performance should have enough character, charisma, and emotion that it helps get the band, their label/A&R person, and their manager all excited about them cutting your song. Your demo production should be strong enough to be competitive as well. They’re looking for that once in a decade hit. If you’re the person who has it, pretty much every door in the music business will swing wide open for you! Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, October 7th, 2016. TAXI #S161007AC

"Treat Me Right" by Eric Sardinas:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIxNUigLvkg

"Sweat" by Popa Chubby:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DICAkBT7mWQ

"Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" by Luca Sestak:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esn8pESKwSE

This awesome label would love to hear Blues artists in all styles and sub genres: Chicago Blues, Blues Rock, Delta Blues, etc. Solo acoustic Blues artists or electric Blues guitar slingers could work. So would piano-based artists or bands, Blues vocalists, male or female… it doesn’t matter as long as you’re really, really good and have deep roots in the Blues sound and culture. No posers please. These guys are looking for the real deal, and if they find it, they’ll know what to do with it! Excellent musicianship, captivating, authentic Blues vocals, and great songs are all part of the Blues stew that will get this label excited. They’re primarily interested in artists and bands that are active and out there working on their careers, so please include any touring, fan base, or sales, streaming, or impressive social media figures you have in your bio. If you’re a young artist or band, and don’t yet have much of a story or track record, but you do have an amazing sound and songs to back it up, they’d still like to hear you! Please submit three original songs, with lyrics, photos, and bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, October 1st, 2016. TAXI #S161001BA

Please do not copy or rip off these artists or their songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as reference for music that dates back to some of the pre-1990 decades! You can submit old masters or demos for this pitch. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings! They’re much more interested finding music that sounds authentic to the time period!

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that is authentically from a particular time period. The Publisher pays you upfront for the master rights and the Publisher’s share of the copyright, and you keep the Writer’s Share of the publishing and earn income from performance royalties paid by your Performing Rights Organization.

This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market!

Your name needs to be on the copyright for original songs. If you’re submitting covers of Public Domain Songs, you need to own and control the Master Recording. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Country
Return to List of Categories

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY-ESQUE POP SONGS are needed by a new Male/Female Singer-Songwriter Duo that’s a “high priority” at the Major Record Label they’re signed to. They’re looking for Songs in All Tempos that would work well in the context of a Duet with Male/Female Vocals, or with a lead vocal sung by one of the singers, and prominent harmonies sung by the other half of the duo. Please listen to these songs to get an idea of the range of styles that could work for this act:

“If I Die Young” by The Band Perry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NJqUN9TClM

“Heartbeat” by Carrie Underwood:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg50JGPEoo8

“You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuNIsY6JdUw

“Stuck Like Glue” by Sugarland:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iDPw_qjhtM

Please send contemporary sounding Songs with mostly organic instruments in the arrangement and production. Skewing toward the hipper, more modern side of what would work on Country radio, with enough Pop in the production style that it sounds like it could easily cross over to Top 40 radio will make your song stand out. Ballads to Mid-Tempo songs should feature more “meaningful” lyrics and exceptional song craft. Up-Tempo songs can be more fun, rhythmically driven and have lyrics that are maybe a bit more simplistic, but very, very hooky, especially in the chorus. They will accept sketches and simple home demos as long as the song craft, lyric and melody are fresh and sound like a hit in the making.

Sketches they love, may result in a request to co-write with the act or the act’s producer. Great songwriting is the key for this pitch, no matter how you slice it. Demos with duet vocals will be met with open arms, but they’re not a requirement. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, October 8th, 2016. TAXI #S161008CP

NEO-TRADITIONAL COUNTRY SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a hard-plugging Nashville-based Music Publisher looking for fresh songs to pitch to Music Row’s finest. They’re mainly on the prowl for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs, but competitive power ballads will also be considered. Please listen to the references below (given to us by the source) to get an idea of the range of what they’re looking for:

“Here’s To The Farmer” by Luke Bryan:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oa4ZshB3Jyg

“Head Over Boots” by Jon Pardi:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3odIdmuFfEY

“Talladega” by Eric Church:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rek_Cxrc1pE

Please submit fresh, radio-friendly songs that are rooted in traditional Country, yet just modern enough to be competitive on major Country radio stations. Sounding modern (as in not dated), yet having the ring of truth and authenticity that neo-traditional Country fans love is the name of the game for this pitch. Give listeners traditional song forms and stories with fresh lyrical perspectives that capture their attention from the first line. Kick off your lyric with a line you haven't heard before that's different, yet conversational, visually descriptive and down-to-earth. Keep lyrics direct, visual, vulnerable, honest and emotional for this high-bar pitch.

Acoustic demos can work for this pitch, but your recording quality (even for stripped-down, guitar/vocal demos) needs to be clean, clear, and good enough to represent your song well. Fully produced demos are also welcomed, as always. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened by a TAXI A&R person handpicked by the Publisher! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, October 14th, 2016. TAXI #S161014NC

NEW LISTING -- SOLO FLAMENCO GUITAR INSTRUMENTALS in All-Tempos and Moods are needed by a really large media company for inclusion in its Exclusive, In-House Music Library and placements in its TV shows, documentaries and online media. This industry giant is building its own Exclusive, In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights (more info below). Here are a couple of examples of the style they're looking for:" Maya" by Don Cortes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=359Bxg4Tp1w"Fantasia" by Sabicas:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnFtLjQ_rr8"Flamenco Guitar, Spanish Guitar":https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC3hJFvQv3A TAXI Tip: While this listing does ask for SOLO Instrumentals, if your piece(s) have castanets, cajon, or the sound of a dancer's shoes in them, we think that should be fine! If your piece has a second guitar part in it, we also think that could work. As long as your Instrumental sounds authentic, you should be good to go.Strong musicianship and authentic (not MIDI-driven) sounds are needed. Sticking to one central melodic motif and overall mood in your Instrumental is probably a good idea. While that might not be completely authentic, it might make your piece easier for editors and music supervisors to use. It's not absolutely necessary, we're just tossing that idea out there for your consideration. In the end, authenticity probably matters most. All submissions should be at least 2:00 minutes in length, with good edit points and Non-Faded endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. NEW LISTING -- ORIGINAL BOSSA NOVA-Style INSTRUMENTAL CUES with Contemporary Pop and Electro elements/influence are needed for $250 Buyouts (you keep the Writer's share) by a really large media company's In-House Music Library for placements in TV shows and online media. They're looking for a bunch of Mid-to-Up-Tempo Bossa Nova-Style Cues, ranging from Traditional-sounding to Contemporary-sounding Cues that would be more like what you'd hear on current Pop playlists with Electro elements combined with Bossa Nova inspired melodies. There aren't a lot of great references, but here are a couple to get your wheels turning:"Malevo" by Jimena Fama:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ8nELmfywc"She's So Cold" by Bossa nStones:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mvoe3Hl2rAcAlthough one of the references has vocals, please submit instrumentals only for this pitch. Get creative while mashing up some cool, contemporary Pop sounds and rhythms, but never forgetting to put that Bossa Nova melody on top. Try stuff that's fresh, original, and contemporary, but don't go so far outside the box that your Cues wouldn't work well in travel or documentary scenes. All submissions should be at least 2:00 minutes in length, with good edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This Exclusive, In-House Library will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. NEW LISTING -- ANGELIC ORCHESTRAL STRING INSTRUMENTAL CUES are need by an industry giant that’s building its own Exclusive, In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. They’re on the hunt for peaceful, sweet Down-to-Mid-Tempo Instrumental Cues that can include solo instruments, small ensembles, full orchestras, harps, or any combination thereof. Please listen to the references to get some ideas of the wide range of what could work for this request:

“Relaxing Harp Music”:

“Healing And Relaxing Music for Meditation” by Pablo Arellano:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjFgeY5gaio

Your “Angelic” Instrumentals should have a light, ethereal, otherworldly feel that falls within a range of emotions like; wistful, hopeful, peaceful, celestial, bewitching, etc., etc., etc. Please do not submit tracks that are dark, ominous, or scary – that’s the wrong kind of angel ;-)

Cues with recurring melodic motifs and dynamic builds are encouraged, and please stick to one motif throughout your entire piece. In other words, don’t try to score an entire film, just one scene! Please avoid anything that’s too heavy, busy or bombastic. Any material that sounds stiff or “synthy” won’t work for this pitch.

NEW LISTING -- SPAGHETTI WESTERN INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an established and well-known Production Music Library that gets tons of placements in Film, Television Shows, and TV Commercials. They’re eagerly searching for Instrumentals in ALL-Tempos that could be found on a playlist with the “Godfather” of Spaghetti Western Music, Ennio Morricone. Take a listen to this collection of his best compositions to get in the general ballpark of what they need:

“Spaghetti Western Music Collection” by Ennio Morricone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dpNQFpeo6U

Please submit original Instrumentals that evoke the spirit and grit of the American Wild West, with a memorable melodic theme, and authentic or believable sounding instrumentation. In other words, if you’re using orchestral samples, they need to sound real. You’d be smart to weave appropriate instrumentation in and out to keep your piece dynamic and interesting as it moves forward.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced composer or compositions in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and overall vibe. Pieces that are at least 2 minutes long are recommended. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

NEW LISTING -- SOLO FLUTE INSTRUMENTALS in a very wide range of Styles, Tempos and Moods are needed by a really large media company for placements in TV shows and online media. This rapidly growing industry giant is building its own Exclusive, In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. On top of the buyout fee, you will also keep 100% of the Writer’s share of the publishing and make applicable performance income.

They’re looking for Solo Flute Instrumentals in just about any style you can think of (within reason) and in All Tempos: Classical (aka Western flute), Peruvian Pan Flute, Chinese flute, Japanese flute, Arabian flute, Irish flute, African flute, Native American flute… you name it!

If you had a TV scene about the long workdays of Peruvian coca farmers, what music would you put in it? If you had a travelogue scene showing a highbrow Viennese museum, what might you expect to hear in that? If you had a sunset scene on the Yantze River, what would you hear? You get the idea!

You could create several different moods with the same flute. A Classical flute could play Classical music at George Washington’s birthday party or a raucous Rock solo like Ian Anderson would have played on Aqualung. A Japanese flute could play a light, emotionally upbeat piece that could work with visuals of cherry blossoms or a sad, legato piece in a scene about the death of a legendary samurai warrior. Again, you get the idea!

Any genre could potentially work, and any mood and tempo within that genre could also work. Stick to one melodic idea within each piece. Don’t try to score an entire film, just give them one idea that would work in one scene! Think mood, emotion, authenticity, and more often than not, simplicity!

TAXI Tip: Title your Instrumental in a way that tells the person choosing the music for the TV show or film what it sounds like: Peruvian Wonder Flute, The Melancholy Samurai’s Flute, Snooty Flutie, Agualungz Rocks, etc. Don’t assume your flute pieces will be on a list of only flute pieces when they’re on an editor’s hard drive!

All submissions should be about 2:00 minutes long with good edit points (when possible) and Non-Faded/natural endings. You can try your flutes steeped in reverb, looped with repeating delays, or bone dry – experiment! Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). If you’re using Virtual Instruments, they need to sound real and not MIDI-driven or “synth-y.”

This Exclusive, In-House Library will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. On top of the per track fee, you will also keep 100% of the Writer’s share of the publishing and make applicable performance income. This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the music you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs. Please submit 1-3 Instrumentals Online or per CD. Although the references have vocals in them, this request is for Instrumentals only. Please send contemporary sounding Hip Hop Cues that have a banging beat, with a fun vibe and smooth, interesting instrumentation. The references above are somewhat wide-ranging, so take that as your cue to create something uniquely your own, that would still fit on a playlist with those references. The third reference has a Dancehall influence that the Library executive really likes. The focus for this pitch is the fun, contemporary beat, along with the cool accompanying instrumentation. Adding layers of instrumentation as your Cue progresses is typically a good idea because it adds interest and some dynamics to keep your piece moving forward. For this request, you’d be smart to stay on the somewhat leaner, less busy side of things so your Cue doesn’t compete with dialogue in this show’s scenes.

All submissions should be at about 2 minutes long. Good edit points and Non-faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a yes/no basis with no full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, October 7, 2016. TAXI #Y161007HH

NEW LISTING -- ORIGINAL, TRADITIONAL ODRECILLO BAGPIPE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a really large media company for inclusion in its Exclusive, In-House Music Library and placements in its TV shows, documentaries and online media. This industry giant is building its own Exclusive, In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights (more info below).

Just in case you’re wondering what an Ordrecillo Bagpipe is, here’s what Wikipedia said: “The odrecillo was a small bagpipe of medieval Iberia (modern Spain and Portugal). The instrument is found with or without drones. The term is derived from the word odre ("goatskin").

Here are some examples (and trust us, there weren’t many!)

“Dized’ ai trobadores” by Ismael Cabero & Jota Martinez:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuUe66K97pY

Iberian Medieval Bagpipe - Odrecillo - Gaita Medieval Ibérica (Start at :45):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJhHKkinr80

Even though one of the examples had vocals, please submit only instrumentals for this pitch. Authenticity is the name of this tune, as in real bagpipes - no synths. Traditional Iberian (Spain and Portugal) style with sustained drones (optional), and well-placed grace notes should work. Mood and tempos can vary, but we’ve been told they’d prefer “bright melodies” when possible. Bagpipes aren’t generally associated with happy, bright melodies, so feel free to send whatever you’ve got! If you’ve got something “bright,” you’ll be ahead of the pack in that regard ;-) Small bagpipe ensembles are welcome. If you’ve got a Lute, Frame Drum or other Medieval instruments you’d like to throw in there, go for it!

All submissions should be at about 2:00 minutes in length and have Non-Faded endings. Frankly, after two minutes of Odrecillo Bagpipes, you’ll have heard enough! Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality (within the context of this request) is needed.

Submissions will be screened on a yes/no basis, no full critiques. All Submissions must received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, October 8th, 2016. TAXI #Y161008OB

Simple, super-memorable melodies and powerfully catchy lyrics that harken back to that golden ear will get you to the head of the line with this publisher. Doing your homework and submitting songs with instrument sounds that sound pretty authentic to that time period will be very much appreciated by this company and the music supervisors that use their music! In other words, your recordings should sound slick and modern. Mixes should sound classic as well. This should really be fun, if you think about it!

TAXI Tip: If you happen to have some old recordings from back in the day, they’d be very excited to hear those!

Your submissions should be about 3-4 minutes long. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Appropriate (old school) sounding Broadcast Quality is needed.

That said; if your piece(s) have some non-lyrical shouts or vocal exclamations in them, those could work for this pitch. Imagine how pieces like these would help create an authentic mood and establish a geographic location when used in documentaries and travel shows. Think of what types of Instrumentals would be used in an Up-Tempo, celebratory, Mexican festival scene or maybe something a little slower, more somber and serious, like a Down-Tempo piece in a scene about how drug lords have decimated a small village. Those are good examples of what they need (along with other moods and tempos). TAXI Tip: All types of Mariachi arrangements are needed, from small, "lo-fi" ensembles (like you might hear table-side at a Mexican restaurant) to fuller, Orchestral Mariachi, as long as the Instrumentals have authentic sounding horns in the arrangement.Strong musicianship and authentic (not MIDI-driven) sounds are needed. NEW LISTING -- GAME SHOW TENSION CUES are needed by a prominent Music Library that needs to seriously beef up this genre in their catalog. In other words, they need a lot of great music! They’re on the prowl for Cues that are in the general wheelhouse of the references below:

“Deal Or No Deal”:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-zluACA39A

“Family Feud” (14:19-14:32):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT_DEZz99VQ

“Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iqwh6bxJPe0

Please send suspenseful, tension-inducing Cues, which are perfect for those decisive moments in many of the game shows we’ve all seen thousands of times. Your Cue can loop in segments, but should then smoothly ramp up the tension in places to increase the tension. Subtly is key though – this is not high-octane action tension music. They’re looking for something that’s more like that “anticipating-what’s-next” type of tension Cue. If the contestants are sweating, your music should serve to make the viewers at home sweat along with them! Gentle pulses, muted, clock-like ticks, and droning synth pads are all possibilities for your “tension palette.

Your submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced shows’ music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed. This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, and an 80/20 split in the Writer’s favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library! Because this is an Exclusive deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. NEW LISTING -- ORIGINAL FLABIOL FLUTE INSTRUMENTALS (Up-Tempo and in “Bright” Melodic Moods) are needed by a really large media company for inclusion in its Exclusive, In-House Music Library and placements in its TV shows, documentaries and online media. This industry giant is building its own Exclusive, In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights (more info below). Here are a couple examples of what could work for this unusual and intriguing request:

Catalonian 5 Holed Flute (Flabiol):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiJO3gtIFOs

Sardana "Dos canaris" (ob 2 flabiols) Cobla Ciutat de Terrassa:

Música al vol · Parròquia de la Mare de Déu del Carme (start at 00:11):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4LWyBaNYEI

TAXI Tip: It was pretty hard to find any examples of Flabiol Flute pieces with the flutes in the clear. It appears that the flutes are typically accompanied with at least a simple drumbeat done with one hand, while the other hand plays the flute – cool, huh? We’ve also noticed that many (but not all) Flabiol Flutes pieces fall into a Polka style, so take that for what it’s worth. It’s also noteworthy that most Flabiol music has at least two flutes, and might even include an ensemble of several flutes and drums.

Here’s a little Wiki-education on the Flabiol Flute:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flabiol

Note: We’ve included that link because we want to encourage you to take a shot at this opportunity because we don’t think many people will! If you submit some quality pieces, you could rule the Flabiol Flute world in all of this company’s productions that need perky little Flabiol pieces for years and years to come. Where else will they find them except from TAXI’s members?!!!

Authentic sounding pieces are needed. It’s conceivable that a sampled Flabiol flute that’s masterfully played with the right dynamics and great articulations could do the job. Are you up for becoming the “master of the Flabiol domain?” Little pond, big fish! All submissions should be at least 2:00 minutes in length, with good edit points and Non-Faded endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

NEW LISTING -- FUN, HIP, RHYTHMIC ELECTRO-BASED INSTRUMENTALS for TV and ONLINE COMMERCIALS are needed by an A-List, highly regarded Music Library that’s new to running Listings with TAXI! They’re looking for a range of Up-Tempo, Electronic Instrumentals that would fall into the general category of music you’d often find in Apple’s commercials like the examples below:

Apple iPhone 6 – Loved:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4YUNJ65nXM

Apple Watch Ad:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmzFff-UvZE

Apple Watch Ad – Fitness Apps:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5IXsMcialE

Please submit Instrumentals that are very rhythmic, super fun, and electro-based, that would work well in the context of Commercial Advertising -- most likely for use in Digital/Online Ads (that generally pay in the $200 - $1,500 range, which would be split with the company). Some of these could end up in bigger, mainstream broadcast or cable channel spots that pay much larger creative fees!

Rhythmic, quirky, bouncy, modern and very hip are all adjectives that come to mind for this pitch. You do NOT need to check all of those boxes for each submission. Just ask yourself when you listen to your piece, “Did I check off at least some of those boxes?” If your answer is “yes,” you’re probably in the ballpark! Your Instrumentals can have influences that come from genres like Trance, Neo Soul, Drumline, EDM, Indie Pop, or Electro Pop, etc., as long as they’re so hip that companies like Apple would drool all over them at first listen. Having horn stabs, guitar stabs, non-lyrical vocal “stabs,” or other well-placed and inventive parts could work, but don’t overdo it. Sometimes less is more!

TAXI Tip: Bright, emotionally upbeat, fun, and rhythmically infectious are the keywords of the day! Minor or 7th chords probably won’t work well for this pitch.

Your arrangements can by structured like a Cue (mostly A section, with a possible B section), or more like a song would be structured (ABABCB), as long as your Instrumental starts out with a bang, and keeps the forward momentum going throughout. Short intros, or no intro at all are best!

TAXI Tip 2: This Publisher is looking for a lot of these, so get crankin’!!!!

All submissions should be at about 2:00 minutes long, give or take. Faded or Buttoned/Stinger endings could both work, as commercials often “fade” with a quick dump done by the editor or post mixer. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This awesome Publisher offers an EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal. The publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. Sync fees will be split 50/50. Please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You must own or control the Copyright Master Recording. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like online or on CD. If you’re submitting online, please note that you have to submit in batches of no more than three per transaction. All submissions will be screened on a yes/no basis – no full critiques - and must be received no later than Sunday, October 16th at 11:59pm (PDT). TAXI # Y161016RI

NEW LISTING -- CLASSIC-Sounding 1950s-1960s ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by an established and well-known Music Library that gets tons of placements in Film, Television Shows, and TV Commercials. They’re looking for Up-Tempo Cues in wide stylistic range that would include the references below and other acts of that genre and era:

“Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0Rz-uP4Mk

“Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8JULmUlGDA

“Keep A Knockin’” by Little Richard:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcJrExewkYA

Although the references have vocals, they’re looking for Instrumental Cues only for this pitch. Please submit authentic sounding Rock ‘n’ Roll Cues that have that classic 1950s-1960s feel and vibe. What would be playing on car radio as four young men with jeans and white T-shirts (with their Camels rolled up in the sleeves) cruise the strip looking for some action? What would you hear in the background at Peggy Sue’s birthday party? Yep, that’s what they need! Draw inspiration from the styles of the references and send something reminiscent of that classic, legendary era. Your Cue should have the kind of swing that Elvis could gyrate to, guitar licks that would make Chuck Berry tip his hat, or a rockin’ piano pounding out eighth notes in the upper register, and you should be in the ballpark! This pitch is all about capturing the essence of the era with authentic-sounding parts, sounds and style. If listeners can shut their eyes and be transported to 1957 and some fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror, you’ve done your job well!

A short intro, or no intro at all, a rocked out A section, and maybe even a little B section to keep it interesting and forward moving, could all work well.

Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes long. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced acts in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Era-appropriate Broadcast Quality is strongly recommended. Although this label is well known for putting out compilations and is interested in hearing and finding single tracks, they'd also love to find artists or bands that have full albums of this type of material that they could release. Retro sounds and production are the order of the day, and of course, compositions that are in line with this genre's core style of atmospheric, ambient pieces is what they'd love to find. Your Song should have killer melodies, beats, and a quality that really drives home the get-the-party-started vibe with really catchy hooks, and a big, unforgettable chorus. Lyrics should be what you’d typically expect to hear in the Pop genre.

Universal lyrics will work best for this pitch. Please avoid referencing any specific names, dates, places, and brands. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY POP SONGS with Female vocals are needed by an A&R Executive at a Major Record Label for a “rising star artist that [they] are making a priority.” It’s always good to be a “priority” when signed to a Major Label ;-)

Further quoting the Label: “If Robyn and Rihanna had a baby, it would sound like this artist.” Here are some references from the Record Label:

“Tired Of Talking” by LÉON:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u69lXmBs08o

“Good For You” by Selena Gomez:

“Call Your Girlfriend” by Robyn:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6ImxY6hnfA

Send cool, unique, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Pop songs with bouncy, contemporary production, cool beats, and hooky lyrics that would lend themselves well to a glossy vocal approach. Your submissions should be rhythmically and melodically engaging with strong, modern lyric themes and an irresistible chorus. Great songwriting, song construction, and a super hooky chorus will get your submission to the front of the line!

TAXI Tip: This artist has typically put out music that’s a little left of center… somewhat in the Sia ballpark. It’s obvious that the label is trying to take her in a more mainstream direction so she can find a bigger audience. If you can masterfully combine a mainstream approach and incorporate some left of center elements, you may hit the bullseye! Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. Unforgettable melodies and an infectious chorus delivered with a super-confident, first-rate vocal will help get them excited about cutting your song! Fresh lyric concepts, and a contemporary approach will get their attention.NOTE: They will listen to both fully produced songs or "song sketches" are both okay to submit for this pitch. If they hear a "sketch" that they love, they could ask you to co-write with the artist herself or a known hit songwriter. That would be a good thing for your career!Incorporating cool, modern ideas and forward-thinking production will help you get noticed for this pitch. Having super strong melodies and some hip rhythmic ideas that are just a little bit ahead of the curve should get them excited about cutting your song. They're not looking for what's already been done, so much as they'd like to hear what's "next," but not so far ahead of the curve that radio won't play it. If you can nail that, you've probably got what they need! Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY BLUES POP/ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Music Licensing Company/Indie Label that specializes in placing artist-driven music in TV and film. They're looking for compelling Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs that you'd expect to find on a playlist with acts like (but not limited to) the references below:"Jungle" by X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSMY2CVjCZA"Fire" by Barnes Courtney:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLEoictM8p4"Tighten Up" by The Black Keys:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpaPBCBjSVcPlease submit Songs that have that greasy, distorted vibe, with bombastic swamp stomp beats, and some delta-style acoustic guitar parts or beautifully distorted electric guitars, depending on which approach you take! Awesome sounding handclaps are another signature element often found in this type of song. Lyrics should be in the conceptually simple stylistic range of what you'd typically hear in the Blues Rock or Blues Pop genre. Although this company didn't specifically ask for universal lyrics, songs that shy away from references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity could be more appealing to Music Supervisors. Your songs should be full-length -- in the 3 to 4 minute ballpark. Good edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned endings will work best for this pitch. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY POP SONGS with Female Vocals and a bit of an R&B twist are needed by a veteran Producer who’s working with a successful Latina artist that’s crossing over into the U.S. market. They’re looking for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs that will give her an edge and some commercial appeal. Songs that would be found on a playlist with the examples below are in the general ballpark of what could work:

“Body Say” by Demi Lovato:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jca0B2lbqpU

“Kill Em With Kindness” by Selena Gomez:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHP5MKgK0o8

“Into You” by Ariana Grande:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ekZEVeXwek

Quoting our source: “She’s looking for great melodies and lyrics that are a little more on the edgy side – also, she and her producers are open to refining anything that is a little rough around the edges but still has a great hook or room for potential.”

Please send Top 40-style Pop Songs with some R&B “flavor.” Great structure, a fresh lyrical approach, some cool ear candy in all sections of the song, and you could be hitting the nail on the head! Having a strong vocal on your demo could help get this artist and her producer excited about cutting your song. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a yes/no basis. No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, October 11th, 2016. TAXI #Y161011CP

NEW LISTING -- INDIE POP ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Six-times Platinum act working on their next Major Label album. Give them Mid-to-Up Tempo Songs that have an Indie sensibility, combined with a Pop/Rock sound and you should be good to go! Please listen to the references below to get a feel for the range of what could work for this act:

“Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTZ7iX4vTQ

“Electric Feel” by MGMT:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmZexg8sxyk

“Take A Walk” by Passion Pit:

Send Pop-influenced Rock songs that immediately grab attention with their groove and contemporary/Indie production. Hip Indie-style lyrics with melodies that lend themselves to a vocal delivery that would appeal to hip Millennial listeners will work well for this pitch. Group vocals (both unisons and harmony stacks) are often found in this band’s songs, so keep that in mind.

Radio-friendly tunes with a nostalgic, authentic-rock vibe combined with plenty Pop, mainstream-appeal will get this band excited to cut your record!

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY ALT POP SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by a Music Licensing Company/Indie Label that specializes in placing artist-driven music in TV and film. They're looking for compelling Mid-Tempo (maybe even a little bit Up-Tempo) Songs that would appeal to fans of acts like (but not limited to) the Charlotte OC, Lorde, Halsey, etc., etc., etc.:"On and On" by Charlotte OC:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVmEzu_k7II "Team" by Lorde:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2JuxM-snGc"Gasoline" by Halsey:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRHNi3QfFlE Please submit Songs that have an (for lack of a better way of describing it, sorry, no letters please!) angst-y, self-absorbed, haunting Alt "Pop" vibe with vocals that are velvety, delicate and emotionally hard as nails all at once. Melding melodically dark-ish Pop sensibilities with a sparsely avant-garde, yet accessible production style will get this company very excited. Doing that while giving the lyrics and vocals the space they need to showcase your "I don't give a damn about you" attitude will show your genius and have this company clamoring to sign you! It's difficult to imagine asking for universal lyrics from artists in this genre, so we're not going to do it! That said, if you can express your inner pain or disdain for humanity in a way that skirts references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity, you're probably a musical prodigy and could be super appealing to even the hippest of Music Supervisors. Your songs should be full-length -- in the 3 to 4 minute ballpark. Good edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This Company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, with a one-year reversion, so please be sure the songs you pitch for this listing are NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. NEW LISTING -- STRONG, CONTEMPORARY POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a super popular DJ and Producer working on his new, Major Label album. He’s looking for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs, so please listen to the wide-ranging references below for some general ideas as to the directions that will interest him:

“Close” by Nick Jonas:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgJFqVvb2Ws

“Stitches” by Shawn Mendes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbfpW0pbvaU

“Sugar” by Maroon 5:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09R8_2nJtjg

Please send songs that are contemporary and emotionally moving. We’ve been told by his Record Label that, “He loves songs about love and emotion, but he also understands heartbreak,” so your submissions can vary in emotion as long as they’re powerful and well-constructed. This artist is moving away from his traditional EDM sound to a more mainstream Pop lane, so songs with plenty of hooks, great song craft, fresh lyrics and lots of mainstream appeal should do well.

The references above are pretty wide-ranging, so take them in that light, and submit songs with a fresh and slightly ahead-of-the-curve sound that’s radio-friendly. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a yes/no basis. No full critiques. CONTEMPORARY RAP/HIP-HOP SONGS with MALE VOCALS are needed by a Major Record Label for a newly signed artist that's working on his debut record. They're looking for fresh, current, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Jams that could be found on a playlist with these references. Take a listen to the references they gave us to get an idea of the range that could work for this pitch: "Trap Queen" by Fetty Wap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_kF4zLNKio"679" by Remy Boys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzz4Z-O7710"New Level" by A$AP Ferg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Srns7NiO278Give them bangin' Songs that have all the appeal of hit songs in the genre, with a rhythmically, melodically, and lyrically engaging approach. Your songs should have plenty of great ear-candy from top to bottom, with a chorus hook that's killer and sounds like a radio hit. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists' songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Your overall production needs to be really competitive for this one! NEW LISTING -- VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL (No Covers) Early 1990’s HIP HOP SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by an A-List Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing opportunities. If you’ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with artists like those listed below (and any others in that ballpark), you might have exactly what this awesome publisher needs:

WARNING: Some of the following references may have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“Soulja’s Story” by 2Pac:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzOxHo_IyTw

“Gin And Juice” by Snoop Dogg:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKGJOtRaqMg

“Lil Ghetto Boy” by Dr. Dre:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhemOCLQPAc

TAXI Tip: The publisher specifically asked us to find “harder-edged stuff,” meaning, “More like what you’d hear coming from Death Row artists as opposed to De La Soul.” The Publisher also told us they’d love to find songs that “…aren’t too heavy on the Casio keyboard sound.” Your lyrics can be about anything that’s typical of the genre, and profanity is okay for this pitch!

Please do not copy or rip off these artists or their songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as reference to the stylistic ballpark your material should be in!

They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORINDGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market!

Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! DO NOT SUBMIT MATERIAL WITH ANY UN-CLEARED SAMPLES! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016. TAXI #Y161002HH

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY HIP-HOP SONGS are needed by a Gold level Female artist working on her new, Major Label record. While this artist is best known for her Mid-Tempo work that doesn't really have a big, radio-ready chorus, she's currently looking for songs that can take her into a somewhat more mainstream direction. She and her label would like to find Mid-to-Up-Tempo songs with bigger choruses that she can add her own unique "flavor" to. Listen to the references below to get an idea what she's done before, and where she'd like to head with her new material. The Nicki Minaj song is probably more in line with the new direction she'd like to move into:"Try Me" by Dej Loaf:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Hn9hLOljJI"We Gon Ride" by Dreezy ft. Gucci Mane:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIqJfixrJu8"Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JipHEz53sUPlease send bangin', club-ready anthems with the kind of energy that take any party to the next level! A BIG chorus is crucial for this pitch! Incorporate contemporary, Urban style/flavor with a Pop-worthy, chart-topping hook, and you should be in the right ballpark. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics, photo, and bio. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY RAP/HIP-HOP SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for a (up to) $13,000 NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Production Company placement on a HIT TV Show on a Major Broadcast Network. They need original (no covers), Mid-Tempo Songs that would fit on playlist with artists like Drake, Future, Desiigner, Chance The Rapper, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get in the general ballpark of what they need:

WARNING: Some of these references have language in them that might be offensive to some listeners.

“Jumpman” by Drake & Future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-ogX0z2bTw

“Panda” by Desiigner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5ONTXHS2mM

“Problems” by Chance The Rapper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVkkYlQNmbc

Give them engaging songs that have a compelling modern beat, and a vocal performance that’s rhythmically and lyrically engaging. Your submissions can have a sung chorus section, but it’s not absolutely necessary. Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you’d expect to hear from artists in the ballpark of the references, delivered in a current style. Universal lyrics are best, so please avoid references to specific names, places, times, dates, brands, and profanity. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. No un-cleared samples can be used!

NOTE: The sync fee we were quoted is $13,000. However, our experience tells us that the sync fee quoted for this placement is probably based on the show licensing a song from a well-known act. We think the sync fee will be lower for an unknown, independent act. We would “guesstimate” that the range for an unknown act with the perfect song for this scene would be in the $2,500 - $5,000 range. This IS for a huge, hit TV show, and it’s very likely that they have a better budget than many other shows!

This is a Direct-to-Production Company pitch, so you’ll keep 100% of all ownership rights, plus you will also get 100% of applicable performance royalties. You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). All songs will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Wednesday, October 12th, 2016. TAXI #Y161012RP

NEW LISTING -- CROSSOVER ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label for a successful, emerging band working on their new record. They’re looking for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs that can keep their hit-streak going, so please listen to the references below for some stylistic guidance:

“Ride” by Twenty One Pilots:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw-0pbY9JeU

“Adventure Of A Lifetime” by Coldplay:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtXby3twMmI

“Maps” by Maroon 5:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj6fHiF8Osg

Quoting the source: “They’re looking for outside songs and co-writing opportunities – they are a big priority with the label!” Send songs that blend Rock and Alternative styles with Pop song construction in cool, modern, band-like way, while including a great chorus hook, and you could be looking good for this pitch! Having some reverb-y Post Rock guitar parts in your production might give you some edge (we’ve heard that in some of their songs).

This band is sometimes referred to as a modern take on early Maroon 5. By the way, they may want to co-write you if they hear something tantalizing. It’s early in this band’s career arc, so getting in on the ground floor and becoming part of their posse would be awesome for your career as well! Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY POP/ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for a $2,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement in a primetime Broadcast Network TV Series. This Supervisor is on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would be in the general feel and stylistic ballpark of these references:

“Animals” by Maroon 5:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpgTC9MDx1o

“Hymn For The Weekend” by Coldplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YykjpeuMNEk

“Whenever I Go” by OneRepublic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXWrjWDQh7Q

Give them fresh, current-sounding Songs that sound like something you’d hear on the radio: great melodies, plenty of ear-candy, and a hooky chorus are all on the menu for this request! The lyric theme for this pitch isn’t critically important because it will be a background “source” placement. You’d be wise to stick to themes commonly heard in current Pop/Rock music. Avoid profanity in your lyrics, please! Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for the vibe they need. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this is $2,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement. You’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights (no publishing splits), plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Singer / Songwriter

NEW LISTING -- MELANCHOLY SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needed by SUNDAY for a NON-Exclusive, $15,000, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement in a Prime Time TV show on a Major Broadcast Network.

TAXI Tip: The Supervisor found a couple of songs through TAXI that were very close, but he's asked us to run the search again and have our members focus on lyrics that are about overcoming life’s obstacles, stress of life, secrets, pain, getting through the day, etc. They DON’T want relationship-driven songs for this pitch!

NOTE: We recently ran this as TAXI Listing #U160918SS. If you made a submission to that Listing, please send different material this time around.

“I Shall Not Walk Alone” by Ben Harper:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPH-E9hyaUw

“While We Wait” by Jack Johnson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMvyaWrXbAc

“Come Clean” by Tristan Prettyman:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93nYW_wbNY8

Down-Tempo, acoustic-based Songs with melancholy lyrics and a moody, introspective overall vibe should do the trick. Your vocal performance should have an honest, sincere, and touching delivery. A stripped-down Song with just an intimate vocal and acoustic guitar could easily work for this request. A small, subtle ensemble behind the singer could work as well.

Moody and wistful lyric themes will work well for this pitch. Please AVOID themes that focus on relationships! Universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places will make your songs more appealing, but they’re not absolutely necessary. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this is $15,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights (no publishing splits), plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a screener who was hand-picked by the Music Supervisor - No full critiques. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a young Major Label Artist working on his debut album. They are looking for Songs in All-Tempos with some “Alt influence.” Songs that would be in the stylistic wheelhouse of artists like (but not limited to) early Ed Sheeran and Chris Cab should help you get a feel for what they need:

“Photograph” by Ed Sheeran:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSDgHBxUbVQ

“Paradise (On Earth)” by Chris Cab:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-m7VcTB8Pg

This young man is best known as a Singer/Songwriter, and they’re looking for Songs in that ballpark, but with a hip, modern feel and approach that would play on Top 40 Radio. Cool beats and melodies with some movement would be a good start. And if you can show off your production chops in the process of pitching your songs, it just might help you get in on the ground floor with this artist.

The label would ideally love to find some writer/producers that could be part of this budding artist’s “camp.” Trust us, that’s exactly where you want to be! Great song craft, great lyrics that find a new way of saying what’s probably been said before, and some interesting, commercial production ideas could get you noticed by this artists and his record label! Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. NEW LISTING -- MOODY SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for $3,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements in a Horror/Thriller Feature Film with an A-List director and well-known cast. They’re looking for Down-To-Mid-Tempo Songs that illicit feeling of hopelessness and sorrow. Please listen to the references to get a general idea of what could work for this pitch:

“Have You Seen” by Sharon Van Etten: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjU9bycvens

“Delicate” by Damien Rice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnL3NfhOsBM

“Hypnos” by Chelsea Wolfe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwnolnhlwTk

“A Slow Parade” by A.A. Bondy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EePkaW6pALY

“Lilac Helm” by J. Tillman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKrr4Jo7rEQ

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “Songs should evoke a solitary, moody, lonely, emotional, and intimate feeling. Anxiety provoking… feeling of being a loser, with a sparse, intimate arrangement would work best. Nothing large or overly dynamic needed for this. Solo performer or small group are both okay.”

Give this Supervisor well-crafted songs with emotionally engaging melodies, thought provoking lyrics, and a vocal performance that’s delivered in an intimate, sad, and emotionally compelling way. Instrumentation can be solely acoustic, or have a fuller band sound, but should be somewhat consistent with the references above.

Introspective lyric themes about lost love or could easily be interpreted to be about lost love (in a less direct way) will work really well for this pitch. Universal Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity will probably work best, but we don’t think they’re absolutely necessary. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this use is $3,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI A&R person hand-picked by the film’s Music Supervisor. No full critiques. Get Your Music Used More Often by
Doing This Simple Little Thing

Dear Passengers,

If a music supervisor can "hear" what your music sounds like before they even play it, you've got a much better shot at a placement than somebody who didn't do "that simple little thing."

Example: A reality show needs music for a romantic, moonlit walk on a beach scene at a Bahamian resort. The show's editor has a hard drive with 10,000 tracks on it. Your cue is titled Caribbean Nights. Others have names like, Jessica's Day, Sloppy Joe's, Trippin' Lightly, and even Laid Back V2 Mix 3.

Wouldn't Caribbean Nights be the very first piece you'd play if you needed to find the right music quickly? You'd be scanning the list for best bets, and Caribbean Nights would jump right out. That's the simple little thing: the right title! That simple little thing can get your music used so much more frequently, yet most people overlook it.

Imagine how many more career-changing tips you'd get from a TAXI Road Rally panel like this one:

Music Licensing Basics Songs, instrumentals and cues defined, publishing, titling, metadata, sync and master licenses, blanket licenses, exclusive VS non-exclusive deals, perpetuity, how you get paid and how long it takes, communicating effectively with the industry, and how to start. Get a semester's worth of real world education in just ninety-minutes!

That's just one of the panels we'll be doing at this year's TAXI Road Rally!

Now, imagine how much you'd learn from Pitch Panels in all the major genres like Rock, Pop, Singer/Songwriter, Country, Urban and Jazz?

  • How about panels where you get to hear exactly which types of Film and TV Music got the most placements?
  • Would you like listening panels where Music Supervisors hear music from the audience, and another where Music Library Executives listen as well? We've got them!
  • Have you ever wondered how to build simple instrumental cues from the ground up? We'll show you, and you'll probably be surprised to see that it's easier than you think!
  • How'd you like to learn how to create killer EDM tracks or see how a Reality Show editor picks and places music in an episode?
  • Maybe you'd like to learn more about marketing your music, selling more merch or booking more shows? How about learning how to take dated-sounding songs and make them more contemporary sounding? These are just some of the 15 panel topics we'll have at this year's TAXI Road Rally: our FREE convention for TAXI members and their guests!
  • You'll also be able to meet One-to-One with producers, engineers, music supervisors, music library owners, hit songwriters, artist managers, performance coaches, and more! What will you play for them or ask them during your FREE, 15-minute, private meeting?

We'll be posting the final schedule in about a week, but for now, we just want to remind you that the Road Rally is just 48 days away and the seats are filling up and so are the discounted hotel rooms!

If you've got realistic expectations and you're willing to do some work, we can give you all the tools you need to succeed at any level you want to. The Road Rally changes lives. Let this year be when it changes yours!

What's Your "Reason" for Putting it Off?

Every TAXI member gets TWO FREE tickets to the Road Rally. Yet year-after-year thousands of people find "reasons" they can't make it. Maybe those people should have spoken to these members before they decided not to come!

"I would pose this question to anyone who could but didn't come. Are you serious about music?"  —Terry Anthony

"I travelled for 17 hours each way to get to and from the Road Rally. I am jet lagged as hell. But if I had to do it again, I would be there in a heartbeat!!!"  —Adonis Aletras

"What a great convention. This was my first year, and I could not get over the fact that it's FREE! I cannot figure out why TAXI's not charging $400-$500 for something of that caliber."  —Kerry Cox

CUSTOM CRITIQUES

If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.
Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.
For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
