NOTE: Sub-genres that they gave us like Acoustic-based Singer/Songwriter, Pop/Rock, and Pop are all represented here. All of which still fit within the Adult/Contemporary umbrella. All of those could work for this pitch.

Your vocal performance should have a slick overall performance that’s right down the lane of the references above.

Lyric themes should revolve around empowering and inspirational themes in a fresh, current, and relatable way. The more universal your lyrics are the better, so please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Christian
Return to List of Categories

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN SONGS with plenty of Pop crossover appeal and Male or Female Vocals are needed by are needed by a hard-working, Nashville-based Music Publisher that's always pitching to some of the biggest artists and acts in the genre. They're looking for really strong, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would appeal to artists like:

"Priceless" by for King & Country:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPgSrMOTnqM

"Sparrows" by Jason Gray:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRJZQFRyZ6s

"If We're Honest" by Francesca Battistelli:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySa3Vu4FUW8

"Dear Younger Me" by MercyMe:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sevy1AEQ0is

"Move (Keep Walkin')" by TobyMac:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX1G71WK-FA

Quoting the Publisher: "We want fresh, uplifting, totally current, Christian/Pop hits to pitch to a variety of Artists and Labels. You'll want to listen to the songs we referenced to get a feel for the broad stylistic range we're interested in and to experience how these songs are touching while conveying God's love to the listener. They should be deeply inspiring, catchy Christian songs with current melodies, infectious grooves, contemporary rhythms, and interesting chord progressions. Songs that will be considered need to be competitive on Christian radio and have cross-over potential. Some of the stylistic influences in today's CCM are Pop, Pop/Rock, Alternative, Hip-Hop, Contemporary Country, and more. So, don't be afraid to incorporate those influences. Lyrics themes need to be consistent with a Biblical worldview, and also have an impact on popular culture by being relatable to both churchgoers and non-believers alike. Old-timey, traditional gospel songs or stock praise and worship tunes will not work well for what is needed."

You get the picture! Please submit songs that immediately engage an audience, with inviting melodies, attention-grabbing ear-candy, and a big, homerun chorus that delivers a positive Christian message. Acoustic demos can work for this pitch, but your recording quality (even for stripped-down, guitar/vocal demos) needs to be clean, clear, and good enough to represent your song well. Fully produced demos are also welcomed, as always.

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Publisher - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016. TAXI #Y160705CC

NEW LISTING -- ACOUSTIC, CHILD-FRIENDLY INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a well-connected, Non-Exclusive boutique Music Library that's supplying music directly to the editors of a brand new spin-off of an extremely popular Reality TV Show. Non-Faded/Buttoned endings will work best for this pitch. Your submissions should be at least 2 Minutes in length. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, so please be sure the Cues you submit to this pitch are NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright.

Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Wednesday, July 13th, 2016. TAXI #Y160713GU

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs or acts in any way shape or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. NEW LISTING -- BLUES-influenced, CONTEMPORARY R&B SONGS with “APOCALYPTIC” lyric themes and Male Vocals are needed for a $2,000, Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Supervisor placement in a brand new TV Series. They’re looking for soulful Mid-Tempo Songs that would generally be considered to be in the ballpark of “Ticking Bomb” by Aloe Blacc, which is the current temp track. Please review the song to get an idea of the vibe and lyric theme this Supervisor needs:

“Ticking Bomb” by Aloe Blacc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg7gBqwkOgo

Give them original songs that deliver a similar vibe, without sounding like a rip off, copy, or sound-a-like. Matching the tempo could be a good idea, having an understated, almost plaintive vocal delivery and lo-fi approach to the recording and production might also work in your favor. Your songs should have a serious, soulfully heavy, and rootsy quality, with solid song structure and a very hooky and memorable, though understated chorus.

“End-of-times” style lyric themes are needed for this placement, but you’d be wise to keep them universal (just like the reference), avoiding references to specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced song in any way shape or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, vibe, and lyric theme. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this is $2,000. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights (no publishing splits), plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, July 1st, 2016. TAXI #U160701RB

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo35R9zQsAI

"See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgKAFK5djSk

Please submit authentic sounding Rap/Hip-Hop Songs that sound like a real, contemporary artist (as opposed to sterile "library Hip Hop, with a beat that's rhythmically and melodically compelling, and a vocal that's in the general stylistic ballpark of the references. Fresh beats, contemporary sounds, and lyrics that are uplifting, positive, or even somewhat fun (we know… not many songs in this genre are uplifting or fun) will get this Publisher excited! Universal lyrics will work best, so please avoid references to specific names, places, times, dates, brands, and profanity.

Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Also, do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY RAP SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for a $2,000, Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Supervisor placement in a new TV Series. They’re looking for Mid-Tempo Songs that would generally be considered to be in the ballpark of “Panda” by Desiigner. The Music Supervisor mentioned artists like Future and Travis Scott as well, so please review the following songs to get an idea of the vibe the Music Supervisor needs:

WARNING: The following references have some graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“Panda” by Desiigner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsJLLEwUYZM

“3500” by Travi$ Scott: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVxMmMuTk60

“Where Ya At” by Future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw3Or6eqIpI

Quoting the source: “This will be for background source for a party scene at a frat house. It needs to sound really current and lyrics must be clean, no swearing or ‘N’ words, as well as brand names.”

Please submit edgy Rap songs that sound like a real-deal Radio Hit and/or Album Cut, with a bass-heavy, head-bobbin’ beat, and a vocal performance that’s filled with over-confident attitude. Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that’s generally heard in current Rap/Hip-Hop music, albeit, somewhat cleaner ;-). Although this will be used as background source, it would still be good for your lyrics to be universal, avoiding specific references to brands, places, times, names, and profanity. If you’ve got a killer song and the lyrics aren’t 100% universal, we think we might be able to be more lenient than usual for this pitch. Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Please do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Universal lyrics are needed for this pitch, so please avoid specific references to brands, places, times, names, and profanity.

Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Please do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists' songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Your demo production should be really strong for this pitch!

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Label and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Monday, June 27th, 2016. TAXI #S160627AR

BLUES-Influenced ALT ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Music Licensing Company that's not looking for "typical library music." They're looking for music that is either from real artists, or sounds so convincing that you can't tell that it's not from a working artist or band. This company works really hard to go for for high-end placements, so they like to differentiate themselves by avoiding "library-ish" music. The more authentic sounding your music is, the better!

Please submit great Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of these references:

"Don't Wanna Fight" by Alabama Shakes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-5OX7CO26c

"The Healing" by Gary Clark Jr.:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP1Zf04X1Jc

"Them Shoes" by Patrick Sweany:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7licGkKp48

Please submit Bluse-y Songs that have a current Alt Rock sound and style, with soulful melodies, cool little hooks/ear candy in all sections of the song, and a standout chorus that brings it all home. Give them a soulful vocal performance with lyrics that sound like something you'd typically hear in the genre. Life's trials and tribulations are always a great lyric ballpark for anything Blues related or influenced. Universal lyrics will work best, so please avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

They offer an EXCLUSIVE deal. You'll split all upfront sync fees 50/50. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share, and you'll get 100% of the Writer's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs.

Please submit one to three Songs, include lyrics, photo, and bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, June 28th, 2016. TAXI #S160628AR

Linkin Park:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd9OhYroLN0

Please submit your bio and any credits, sales figures, and/or impressive social media stats. If your band is early in its development and you don't have much to brag about yet, but you DO have songs that sound like real hits, take the shot. Labels love hits!!!

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY, BLUES-inspired ALT ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Multi-Platinum Producer who is always working on projects with several artists or bands at any given time.

We recently ran a similar opportunity for this Producer as TAXI Listing #S160517AR, and he's looking for even more possibilities, so he asked us to put this listing back out there. If you made a submission to listing #S160517AR, please send different material this time.

He's searching for edgy, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be recorded by bands like (but not limited to):

Band of Skulls:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHycT3MTtu8

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn9C1vKd7Gc

The Dead Weather:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98oMvKF-78Y

Give him songs with a gritty sound and style, ear-catching melodies, fresh lyrics, and a big, radio-friendly chorus. Your songs should be well-crafted from start to finish, with a strong vocal performance that will get the producer and artists' attention, and make them want to cut your song! This producer will listen to stripped-down demos if the song is great, but your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well.

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, July 8th, 2016. TAXI #Y160708AR

NEW LISTING -- 1970's Style SOUTHERN ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by an A-List Music Licensing Company that pays up front Buy Out Fees (up to $500 per song). They're looking for well-crafted, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that you could imagine hearing a playlist with legendary bands like (but certainly not limited to):

The Allman Brothers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCRS4DRmf_w

Lynyrd Skynyrd:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z3gkq_gWL4

Marshall Tucker Band:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R82OM5tzcrk

Please submit well-crafted Songs with the freewheeling spirit and timeless vibe in terms of the melodies, production, and vocal performances of the referenced acts. Songs that have extended jams or overly ambitious guitar solos might be less appealing to music supervisors and editors, so pitch your tunes that are less solo/jam oriented to increase your chances.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you'd expect to hear from a 1970's Southern Rock band. Lyrics that avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity will have an edge.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced bands or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE Buy Out Deal. They buy the Copyright and Master recording rights for $300 to $500 per song. You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this.

They want to sign bands with a cool, contemporary, Indie style, so please submit a photo that shows them you fit the bill. Any touring experience, growing fan base, or any CD, online sales or impressive streaming stats you might have are always a big plus, so please make sure you mention them in your bio. Your recording should be appropriate for this genre, and strong enough to get them excited about signing you.

Please submit two to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics, photo, and bio. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, July 15th, 2016. TAXI #Y160715IR

Tiny Vipers:

Please submit thought provoking songs with a compelling vocal performance that's brimming with raw emotion. Lyric themes can vary, but should be moody and something that would sound appropriate in the Singer/Songwriter genre. Relationships, introspection, and coming of age lyrics would work well, but you don't need to limit yourself to just those ideas. Universal lyrics will work best, so please avoid using specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists/bands or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Genre-appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed. Listen to the references and you'll see what we mean ;-)

Lyrics about life, love, feeling great, having a great day, friendship, family, etc. are all in the range of ideas that could work well for this pitch, but don't limit yourself to those concepts! This Library is really a stickler for universal lyrics, so please be sure your lyrics are general enough that they won't conflict with the storylines of the films or TV shows they could be licensed in. Please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity.

Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. This Music Library splits ALL sync fees 50/50 with you. They'll get 100% of the Publisher's share, and you'll get 100% of the Writer's share.

Want TAXI to Tweet Your Success Stories?

Dear Passengers,

I just finished doing an episode of TAXI TV and as always, I checked my email as soon as the show was over. A music supervisor friend of mine emailed because he was watching part of the show when we talked about posting TAXI member "Forwards" on our website (http://blog.taxi.com/forward/ ).

The supervisor asked, "Why don't you tweet your members' success stories?" My less-than-brilliant response was, "I dunno."

I felt pretty stupid for having never thought of doing that! We have success stories on our Forum, but we don't tweet them or put them on our Facebook status. I asked my obviously-smarter-than-me friend why he cared, and his response was this: "Because I follow you guys and I want to know who your most successful members are."

"Really?" I queried, a bit surprised that he cared. "Yeah, it's my business to know who's getting it right."

"Really?" I brilliantly responded again, thinking that music supervisors didn't have the time to check out our Twitter feed. "Sure, I see tweets from you guys, but they're always about what people are looking for. I wanna know who's got it all going on!"

"Aren't you afraid of a ton of musicians driving you nuts with pitches if they spot you on Twitter?"

"Laskow, do you think I'm crazy enough to use my real name?" I guess he isn't, because I've never noticed him on the TAXI Twitter followers or on my personal account. It turns out, he's on both!

Beginning next week, we're going to start going to the Success Stories part of the TAXI Forum to grab new success stories to tweet about! You should post any success story there that's TAXI-related.

  • It can be a direct result of submitting to a TAXI listing.
  • It can be from an industry connection made at the Road Rally.
  • It can be from a collaboration with a fellow member you met on the Forum or the Road Rally.
  • It can be about a placement from a publisher you got hooked up with through TAXI several years ago.

Any legitimate success story that's truly rooted in the "TAXI tree" counts!

I do have one request, though: When you post on the Forum, you don't have to say, "This wasn't a direct result from a TAXI Listing, but I did get the relationship with this library through a TAXI forward a few years back." That still counts, but you don't have to be apologetic about it! You can simply say something like; "I got this placement from a publisher I met through TAXI," or "I got this deal because of a relationship started at TAXI's convention." If it happened because you belong to TAXI, we want to hear about it!

We have members who get hundreds of placements a year from companies they met through TAXI, yet they don't tell us because it might have happened through something other than a submission to a Listing.

If you met the library, publisher, music supervisor, or record label through TAXI or a relationship that started at TAXI, that's all that matters!

Let's tweet 'em up! Go to the forum and tell us your stories right now! Even if they're old stories for you, they're new to us! And they're new to my music supervisor friend, and God only knows who else is reading! Who knew? Clearly not me ;-)

Talk to you soon,
Michael

P.S. Don't forget to check out the 35 brand new Industry Listings we posted today! Invest 10 minutes to see the opportunities that could be perfect for you and your music!

CUSTOM CRITIQUES

If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.
Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.
For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
