CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY HITS with Male Vocals are needed by a well-respected and hardworking Nashville Music Publisher for an Award-winning Country SUPERSTAR working on a brand new record. They want radio-worthy, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would instantly appeal to the fans of artists like Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, etc., etc., etc. Quoting the source: "Original, unique, and remarkable storylines. This is for one of Country's true 'Superstars', so there's no room for error. Give me something that an artist who's had 10+ years of smash hits would knock down walls to record. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY SONGS in any Popular Genres, with Male or Female Vocals, with positive lyrics about the concept of “You Drive Me Crazy” are needed by an A-List Music Licensing Company that pays upfront Buy Out Fees for Publishing and Master Rights. They’re currently building a compilation that will consist of great, contemporary, and original songs with the basic, you drive me crazy concept. Here are just a few examples of the type of songs that could work well for this pitch. Please note that your songs don’t have to have the word “crazy” in them. A song about being “nuts” for somebody or something could also work. It’s the concept they’re after, not necessarily the word, “crazy,” although that would be optimal:

“(You Drive Me) Crazy” by Britney Spears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4VK9_CfOLQ

“Crazy” by Aerosmith: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMNgbISmF4I

“I Want Crazy” by Hunter Hayes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvtXgNtYFMs

“Crazy For You” by Best Coast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCqjFxUMU6Q

“Crazy Love” by Michael Buble: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKZBDeamZPU

"She Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2hxOEmXPrw

“Crazy For You” by Madonna: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn5OJGucveg

Please submit well-crafted Songs that are, or sound like a real artist or band, with a well-performed vocal that delivers the message of, “You Drive Me Crazy.” Authenticity is key for this pitch, so please be sure your overall performance sounds more like a real artist or band, and not a typical “Library Track” with a vocal on it. Virtually ALL contemporary genres are welcome for this pitch (i.e. Stripped-down Acoustic Singer/Songwriter (Piano and/or Guitar), Pop, R&B, Country, Folk, Rock, Blues, EDM, or any other Indie genre, etc., etc., etc.

Again, your songs should stick to the positive aspect of “Crazy.” Songs that use “Crazy” in a harsh or negative light won’t work well for this pitch. Lyrics should be Universal and PG-Rated, so please avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE Buy Out Deal. They buy the Copyright and Master Recording rights for $300 to $500 per song. You keep 100% of the writer’s share, and make performance income on the back end from your PRO. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s Share, and will split any sync fees and mechanical royalties 50/50 with you. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you pitch for this opportunity is NOT already signed to any other Libraries or Catalogs. You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, August 29th, 2015. Please submit original songs that are well-crafted and sound like an authentic artist/band. Your submissions should have all the appeal of a contemporary radio song, with inviting melodies, great hooks in all sections, and a chorus that really drives home the Party vibe! Up-Tempo songs will probably work best.

NEW LISTING -- AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE SONGS a la the (original) INK SPOTS (recorded between the 1930s and 1950s) with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Highly Successful Publisher of Period Music for Film & TV Licensing. If you’ve got original songs that were written and recorded in the 1930s – 1950s in the general style of artists like the Ink Spots, you need to submit to this pitch! No cover songs, please. They are only looking for original songs in that style and vintage. Groups and Solo Artists are both okay to pitch for this, as long as the style is in the ballpark of the Ink Spots and the recordings are authentically old!

If you’ve inherited a catalog of this kind of music, or you know somebody who has that kind of music, please pass this along to him or her! This Publisher has been extremely successful placing classic, vintage music from TAXI members in tons of great TV Shows, big Feature Films, and TV Commercials.

Listen to the original Ink Spots by clicking the links below:

If I Didn’t Care: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvwfLe6sLis

I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l6vqPUM_FE

Maybe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp2Hwi9qM48

This Publisher typically averages several great placements per week, and many of those are from TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a an opportunity like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up-front, buyout checks for as much as $10,000 - $15,000 -- depending on catalog size and quality of the material -- while still keeping their writer’s share and getting performance royalties on the back end!

The Publisher DOES NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS of bands or solo artists that are in the vein of the ORIGINAL Ink Spots! If they like what they hear, they will ask to see the copyright registrations to confirm the age of the material.

This is a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market. If you’ve got Demos or Masters, then you could very well have what they need! DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Your name (or the name of the person who owns the compositions and masters) needs to be on the copyright.

The company expects the audio quality for old recordings like this to be less than Hi-Fi! That’s not a problem for this pitch!!

If you’ve got some AUTHENTIC, VINTAGE oldies but goodies that have been collecting dust for decades, you really need to send them in for this opportunity! You’ll love working with this company – they’ve made a lot of TAXI members very happy! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than Monday, August 31st, 2015 at 11:59 pm (PDT). TAXI # U150831IS

ORCHESTRAL, TRAILER-STYLE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a UK-based Production Music Library with many great placements in Film and TV. They’re working hard to build an awesome catalog of Trailer-esque Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:

“Heart Of Courage” by Two Steps From Hell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRLdhFVzqt4

“Guardian At The Gates” by Audiomachine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub0SJpFDko8

“Thunderborn” by Really Slow Motion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcw1ZmMHTgg

Quoting the source: “We’re looking for music for a new library album entitled ‘Trailer and Promo.’” Instrumentals only, though atmospheric, non-lyrical vocals/choirs are fine. These tracks will be for Film and Video Game trailers, as well as TV sports promo spots. Tracks need to be at least 2 minutes long and inspired by generic film trailer formula: Immediate emotional starts or big hits surrounded by space are some ideas. Builds/gear changes throughout are essential, lots of vibe, and tons of excitement. Dropping to nothing about 75% of the way through is another idea - be creative! Classical instrumentation for this one, with highest quality sounds only please, bad or unconvincing MIDI sounds won’t work. Good references are: Two Steps From Hell, Really Slow Motion Music & Audiomachine.”

Please submit well-crafted Instrumentals that are structured like a typical Film Trailer, with 3 distinct “acts” that build as the composition progresses. Your submissions should use authentic/convincing sounding orchestral elements like dynamic strings, compelling brass, and large impactful percussion to create intensity of epic proportion!

As mentioned in the quote, your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Easy edit points and crescendos that lead to buttoned/stinger endings are strongly encouraged. Pieces that crescendo to a buttoned ending, followed by a codetta (as often used in Trailers) are okay to submit as well. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced trailers in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal on performance royalties, and an 80/20 split in the Writer’s favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library, so please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. NEW LISTING -- SIMPLE, PLAYFUL, and slightly QUIRKY INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a UK-based Production Music Library with lots and lots of great placements in Film and TV. They’re currently building a brand new catalog of Instrumental cues in the general stylistic ballpark of these references they gave us:

How It’s Made Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYhEbjhhcAg

Child Genius Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k73q9KiKyIc

Alan Titchmarsh’s Summer Garden Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umNBzwDVYTY

Quoting the source: “We’re looking for music for a new library album entitled “Factual Lite.” Instrumentals should be at least 2 minutes long. This is music to sit behind light, factual programming. Trying to create something that is not too dark but not too happy is key here. Light instrumentation such as pizzicato strings, bells, piano, all used in interesting and quirky ways can be good starting points, but don’t feel limited to these. Writing using modes can be effective, but not essential. These tracks must be interesting & classy, but remain relatively neutral for maximum application! Go for mainly acoustic instrumentation, highest quality samples only, bad or unconvincing MIDI sounds will be rejected. Avoid the more tense or overly comedic cues, we will be doing listings for those at a later date.”

Please submit lighthearted, emotionally positive Instrumental Cues that that have a catchy melodic motif, with a bouncy, playful vibe. As mentioned in the quote, authentic sounding Pizzicato strings, glockenspiel (bells), and acoustic piano will work really well for this pitch, but you do NOT need to limit yourself to just those suggestions. Additional instrumentation like acoustic guitar, bass, light percussion, could also work for this pitch. Ideally, your submissions need to sound like they’d work really well under factual scenes that we all know and love when we hear them in shows like “How It’s Made,” which some us watch WAY too much late at night ;-)

We don’t know about you, but we love learning how wood burning fireplaces are built. We especially love when the voiceover guy says, “A worker seats the framatz on top of the glometz, then uses an automated torque wrench to tighten the screws with just the right amount of pressure.”

As mentioned in the quote, your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Easy edit points and non-faded endings will work best. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form.

You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, September 7th, 2015. TAXI #U150907IC

Additional elements like light drums, bass, some keyboards, and light percussion will work great for this pitch. But, they're also open to solo acoustic guitar and/or piano pieces, if the submissions are in the general category of the referenced artists. NEW LISTING -- ORIGINAL INSTRUMENTAL CUES in ALL GENRES and ALL TEMPOS are needed for TAXI Compilations that we send to Music Libraries and Music Supervisors as “calling cards” when we reach out to them for new opportunities for our members. We typically build compilations that are tailored to each potential new client, and we get the music from a “pool” that will be culled from this Listing.

We’re looking for a broad range of styles/genres that you’d typically hear (mostly) in TV shows: Tension, Swampy, Quirky, Light Acoustic, Indie Folk, Comedy, Crime Scene/Investigative/Procedural, Horror/Suspense, Hip Hop, Dance/Pop, Military/Marches, Rock (all types), Jazz (all types from solo cocktail piano to full band), Orchestral, Film Trailer, Metal, Blues, Blues Rock, EDM, Funk, Action/Adventure, R&B, Dubstep, World (all common ethnicities/genres), Ambient, Trip Hop, Island, Punk, New Age, etc., etc., etc.

Your moods can run the gamut, and ALL TEMPOS are okay for this pitch. Your submissions should be at least 90 seconds long. Non-faded endings are strongly preferred, and easy edit points are a big plus!

TAXI Tip: Our A&R team will be looking for the “cream of the crop” for these compilations, so please don’t get bummed out if your Cue doesn’t get selected for this opportunity. It doesn’t mean it’s not good, but we are going to be very selective as we will only be able to use a few tracks for each genre in each of the compilations we build. Virtually all of the Cues used in previous compilations have already been signed at this point, so we need some fresh examples for future versions.

Please send ORIGINAL INSTRUMENTAL CUES that are NOT already signed with any Publishers, Libraries, or catalogs! Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). You must own or control the copyright and master recording to submit for this pitch. Submitting to this Listing does NOT preclude you for pitching the Cues for other TAXI or outside opportunities. All Cues will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Instrumentals no later than 11:59 pm (PDT), on Monday, September 14th, 2015. TAXI #U150914IC

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY POP and/or POP/ROCK SONGS Male or Female Vocals (Female preferred), are needed for a $30,000 - $35,000 Buyout Deal by a Production Company working on a Fall Ad Campaign for a Popular Female Shoe/Fashion Website. They’re on the hunt for lively, Ad-friendly Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of acts like Katy Tiz, Neon Trees, Heartsrevolution, etc., etc., etc. Please take a careful listen to the references they picked to get a general idea of what could work:

“Whistle (While You Work It)” by Katy Tiz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2MNdFKUDVg

“Everybody Talks” by Neon Trees: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5G9tIe84lE

“Kishi Kaisei” by Heartsrevolution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoyQ8iZku34&feature=youtu.be

Quoting the source: “The client was very happy with their music selection for the last campaign, and are looking for similar, energetic Female Pop Songs with a really memorable chorus. Female vocals are preferred; however, we are open to male vocals in the style of Neon Trees/female friendly bands. Instead of the ad celebrating women/shoes in groups, the Fall campaign spots will focus on individuals and their personalized style. One spot will follow an uptown girl, the other spot will follow a downtown girl, and there may be split screen spot. In each, the uptown and downtown girls meet at the end.”

Please submit full-length, hook-driven, Ad-friendly songs that sound like a real Pop cut, with an inviting vocal performance and overall sound that puts some pep in your step! Think about the confident and upbeat nature of Female shoe commercials, and imagine how your song can fit the bold, confident, and empowered women in the campaign. You get the idea… give them something they can strut to, with immediately engaging melodies, hooks, lyrics, and polished production. The chorus will a big focus for this campaign, so be sure yours is awesome!

Lyric themes should be broad, general, and universal, so you’d be wise to avoid lyrics with references to specific dates, times, places, brands, or profanity. It’s probably not a great idea to submit lyrics about buying shoes, but ideas that loosely fit the idea of stepping-out, strutting, etc. could potentially work (but you don’t need to limit yourself to those ideas). Please, do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe.

The creative fee for this will range between $30,000 to $35,000, all in, for 6 months. They mentioned they might have some room to adjust the budget/terms, so all deals will be made on a case-by-case basis, depending on the success and length of the campaign. No publisher splits. You’ll keep 100% of the fee! You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All songs will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the company. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, September 4th, 2015. TAXI #U150904PO

NEW LISTING -- AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE MOTOWN-STYLE Songs (recorded between 1959-1972) with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Highly Successful Publisher of Period Music for Film & TV Licensing. If you’ve got original songs that were written and recorded back in the day, and would fit on a playlist with artists like (early) Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight, The Marvelettes, The Jackson 5, The Miracles, Mary Wells, etc., etc., etc., you need to submit for this opportunity! The Publisher also wants to hear artists of that era that are in the vein of Freda Payne, even though she was not on the Motown label.

Motown’s Greatest Hits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1Q5-TIC5pc

Band of Gold by Freda Payne: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtauQj65_4w

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that sounds authentic to a particular time period. This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this!

Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) while still keeping their writer’s share and getting performance royalties on the back end! Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the number and quality of the songs picked up.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE, MOTOWN-STYLE recordings of songs that actually were recorded between 1959 and 1972.

This is a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market. If you’ve got Demos or Masters, then you could very well have what they need! This company knows that old recordings will sound less than hi-fidelity by today’s standards. Not a problem – they’re looking for authenticity! Even if your recordings were done in an old 4-track, 8-track or 16-track home studio, they could still be perfect for this company if they sound reasonably good. They DO NOT want slick, modern, ProTools generated recordings.

DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your Songs need to be Original Compositions (no covers), and you need to own/control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch.

Please submit original Songs with organic instrumentation, memorable melodies, engaging lyrics, and a cool, contemporary sounding vocal performance. NEW LISTING -- MELANCHOLY, 1960’s Style ACOUSTIC SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for a NON-Exclusive, $1,000 placement by the Music Supervisor for the end credits of a really popular TV Series. He’s looking hard to find original, full-length, Mid-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of Simon & Garfunkel. Take a listen to their hit song below to get an idea of what they need:

“Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fWyzwo1xg0

Quoting the source: “Looking for a very melancholy end credit song with some pace. Should have acoustic guitar intro.”

Reading that quote, we think having an acoustic guitar intro that runs about the same length, followed by a great first line like, “Hello darkness my old friend” is what they need. OBVIOUSLY, they’re not looking for a rip off, but they do seem to be looking for something that has that same emotional impact and effect.

Ideas like, “So this is how it ends,” or “Is this all there is?’ are ideas we just came up with, so go ahead and pull out some really sad, but fairly general lyrics for this pitch

Please submit sad songs that sound like they’re plucked straight from the ‘60s, with a gloomy lyric and vocal performance that leaves the audience with a heavy heart. Your submissions should be well crafted from start to finish, with great musicianship, and authentic instrumentation (sampled acoustic guitars will probably not work unless you’re some sort of genius).

Your lyrics should be dismal, bleak, and somber, but you’d be smart to avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced act or song in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for the vibe they need. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this use is $1,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% of your Publishing and Master rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a Music Coordinator working directly on the show. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. TAXI #U150908SS

MOODY, ACOUSTIC-BASED SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a High-End Music Library that has a massive list of awesome placements in Films, TV Shows, and Commercials. They need heartfelt, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of acts like James Bay, Jamie Lawson, Passenger, etc., etc., etc. Give them well-crafted songs with a passionate vocal performance that hits the audience right in the heart. You can submit anything from simple guitar/vocal Songs, all the way up to a full band, as long as the acoustic guitar is the primary instrument. Lyric themes can vary, but should heartfelt, relatable, and universal enough to work for a variety of scenes and storylines. Please, do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for feel, texture, and tone. They offer a 3-year EXCLUSIVE deal. You'll keep 100% of the writer's share. They'll split the Publisher's share and sync fee 50/50 with you! Yes, you'll get half of the Publisher's share in this super sweet deal. This is an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the songs you submit for this pitch can NOT already be signed with any other publishers or catalogs! Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. How to Get Your Music Played on TV
350,000 Times in Just 4 Years!

Dear Passengers,

How many people do you know who've had about 350,000 plays of their music on TV in just FOUR YEARS? I only know one, and she's a very special person who richly deserves her success. Her story is both heart-warming and compelling.

Here's the surprising part... she's a wife and mother! Well, that in and of itself isn't so surprising. But how she found the time to make enough high-quality music to get 350,000 TV plays is a question you'll get the answer to at this year's TAXI Road Rally — our FREE convention for TAXI members and their guests.

I'm so proud of this (as of yet un-named) member, that I've asked her to join me on stage at the Rally so she can share her story. I don't know about you, but I'm dying to here it!

And if you're wondering if it's worth your time to come to Los Angeles and join us this coming November 5th-8th, read this excerpt from the email I got from her today.

"You asked if most of my successes have come from relationships built on the [TAXI] forum and at the Road Rally. Yes!

Out of all my placements on TV, only 8 came from a deal that had nothing to do with anyone/anything TAXI related. (I knew the music supervisor for the show). Those placements have earned me a total of $4!

Out of all the libraries I have signed with, only one had nothing to do with anyone/anything TAXI related. I signed with them back in 2008 and they have gotten me zero placements so far. Nada.

The other 15 libraries happened because of relationships made on the [TAXI] forum and at the Rally - and that is where all placements and money have come from, (besides the 8 placements that earned me $4) ;)

I feel a deep gratitude toward TAXI. TAXI has given me so much! The opportunity to earn an income doing what I love, lots of amazing friends and colleagues, a greater understanding of the music business, and I have become a better composer thanks to advice and feedback from TAXI and its members. Thank You!"

I'll tell you who this amazing women is in due time, but for now, all I ask is this:

  • If you're not a TAXI member yet, join now so you can get started on your journey of getting paid for doing what you love.
  • If you're a former member, renew your membership now so you can get started on your journey of getting paid for doing what you love.
  • If you're a current TAXI member and you want to seriously ramp up the speed at which your career accelerates, do what our most successful members do: come to the Road Rally!

How many more examples of people who are probably very much like you becoming more successful than they ever imagined was possible, do you need to see?

How many more "reasons" can you come up with for putting off a trip to the Road Rally?

As TAXI member Russell Landwehr so eloquently said, "The Road Rally is an investment, not an expense."

Click below if you'd like to follow your passion and have a real shot at making your dreams come true!

See you in November,
Michael

P.S. Check out the 35 new opportunities for your music we just posted for you!

CUSTOM CRITIQUES

If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.
Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.
For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
