ADULT CONTEMPORARY BALLADS with Female Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label for a Grammy Award Winning Recording Artist that's working on a brand new record. Male vocals are fine for this pitch, as long as they can lyrically work from a Female perspective. Please submit radio-worthy, Mid-Tempo Ballads that could be heard on the same playlist as artists like (but not limited to) Celine Dion, Sting, Katherine McPhee, etc., etc., etc. Take a listen to the references they gave us to get an idea of the sound and style that could work for this pitch:

"Desert Rose" by Sting:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3lWwBslWqg

"Unbroken" by Katherine McPhee:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYD6xm7qrsc

Please submit well-structured, passionate, commercially appealing Ballads that have inviting melodies, and a super strong chorus with a big emotional payoff. You'd be wise to have a top-notch vocal performance on your demo to help get them excited about cutting it. Stripped-down demos are okay for this pitch, if your song is really, really impressive! Your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well. Please submit one to three Ballads online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Label - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Saturday, May 28th, 2016. TAXI #Y160529AC

NEW LISTING -- ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by a strong Music Licensing Company with an impressive list of Film, TV, and Commercial placements. Give them well-crafted, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that would be on playlists with artists like (but not limited to):

Celine Dion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJsa6-y4sDs

Leona Lewis:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfYC6HgiQ-c

Sarah McLachlan:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jqps9ZdMxs0

Please submit melodically compelling songs with relatable lyrics, and an outstanding vocal performance. Songs should have a big, soaring chorus that sounds like a believable A/C cut. Even though Celine Dion and Sarah McLachlan are among the references, you'd be smart to avoid sounding dated. If you've got an existing song with dated synth sounds, you might want to freshen them up with something more modern.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something commonly heard in the A/C world. Relationship songs are a good default, but you don't need to limit yourself to just those. Universal lyrics that avoid specific names, places, dates, times, profanity, or detailed storylines are needed for this pitch. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the songs you submit aren't already signed to any other Libraries or Catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50, the Company gets the Publisher's share, and you'll keep 100% of the Writer's share. You must own or control your master and composition rights. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Monday, June 6th, 2016. TAXI #Y160606AC

NEW LISTING -- ADULT CONTEMPORARY BALLADS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Multi-Platinum, Grammy-Winning Record Producer who's actively hunting for great songs for several artists he's working with. Please submit Down-Tempo Ballads that could be found on the same playlist as artists like (but not limited to):

Jordin Sparks:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suPlYwJ3YvM

Michael Buble:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbSOLBMUvIE

Adele:

Jennifer Hudson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB_IvRcr04E

Seal:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tedYk88X9A

Give him emotionally moving ballads with captivating melodies and a big, radio-friendly chorus. Lyric themes about the good and bad aspects of love will work well for this opportunity. Other lyric ideas are welcomed, as long as your lyrics are fresh, creative, and relatable to a broad audience. Acoustic demos will work, but your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your Song well. Please submit one to three ballads online or per CD, include lyrics. Country
Return to List of Categories

SOULFUL, EXPRESSIVE, CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY HITS with Female Vocals are needed by a well-respected and hard-working Nashville Music Publisher that's pitching to an iconic Female Country SUPERSTAR. Please submit well-crafted, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found sharing a playlist with artists like (but not limited to):

Miranda Lambert:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ksWKOy665o

Jennifer Nettles:
https://www.youtube.com/user/JenniferNettlesVEVO

Trisha Yearwood:
https://www.youtube.com/user/TrishaYearwoodVEVO

Maren Morris:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouWQ25O-Mcg

Quoting the Publisher: "We need compelling, R&B-influenced, modern Country Hits for a well-known, Multi-Grammy Award winning Country artist who has one of Country music's most recognizable voices. Like most country artists, she co-writes with some of Nashville's finest, so pitch your top drawer, memorable hits. Send authentic Modern Country tunes that are current with what's playing on Country radio. Please avoid songs that lean too Pop, and avoid stock-sounding melodies. Miranda Lambert's visual hit, 'Automatic,' which tugs the heartstrings and features a contemporary chorus is a great example of what's needed. Melodies need to be current, unique, tightly structured, and feature stand-alone choruses that lend themselves to powerful vocal harmonies. Please limit verses to 2 or 3 max, and ABABCB structures are definitely preferable. It's recommended that you listen to recent hits by the artists mentioned to get a general vibe of tunes that could work for the listing. Lyrics need to be conversational, VISUAL, emotional, positive, and present fresh themes that engage listeners on the heart level. Universal story lyrics are especially welcome, and the artist is past her 30's, so you'll want to pitch songs that she can authentically convey to her fans. (For example, songs about falling in love for the first time, getting married for the first time, etc. won't work here.) You'll want to avoid using clichés and familiar sounding phrases, and opt for unique, conversational lyrics that are packed to the brim with visuals. Overly repetitious, abstract, generalized, predictable lines won't fly for this, and you’d be smart to avoid submitting songs with drinking, cheating, depressing/negative themes. Pitch memorable songs that give listeners an uplifting experience.”

Great info, right? Acoustic demos can work for this pitch, but your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, and good enough to represent your song well. Fully produced demos are also welcomed, as always. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Publisher and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016. TAXI #S160524CH

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY HITS with Male Vocals are needed by a hard-plugging, Nashville-based Music Publisher for a Charting Country Artist's next record. He's looking for competitive, radio-worthy, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on the same playlist as:

"Guy Walks Into A Bar" by Tyler Farr:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hVqG44A6No

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCSMCgqlc-0

"Came Here To Forget" by Blake Shelton:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaWH5TWzDCk

Quoting the publisher: "No stock melodies, and preferably no 'Bro Country' - which basically means no songs about sitting on tailgates around a bonfire down by the lake drinking beer with a bunch of girls in Daisy Dukes while cranking tunes. Just give me something I haven't already heard a hundred times before this week, that is still a no brainer radio hit."

Submit current sounding songs, with great structure, memorable melodies, catchy hooks, and a great big chorus that sounds like a radio just waiting to happen. Your demo quality needs to be competitive with songs being pitched on Music Row. The specific deal points will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis directly with the Publisher. Brad Paisley:

Please submit current sounding Country Songs that deliver a rhythmically, melodically, and vocally compelling performance that sound like a believable Country act/artist. The more believable the better! Lyrically, stick with themes that sound that you'd expect to hear in current Country Music, but are broad and universal enough to work well for a variety of scenes and storylines. Please avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a well-respected Nashville Music Publisher for a charting Major Label Artist working on a new record. They're need radio-worthy Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on the same playlist as artists like these:

"Jesus and Jones" by Trace Adkins:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHejiWsI4jQ

"American Country Love Song" by Jake Owen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnyOOSE0z1c

"We Went" by Randy Houser:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-F0US5eKnY

Quoting the source: "This is for a Mid tier artist who hasn't yet reached 'superstar' status, but who has still found his share of chart topping success when paired up with the right song. Originality with marketability is the key for this pitch. Not totally opposed to Bro Country here, but it has to be an incredibly fresh take on the otherwise too familiar themes. It can't just say what every other song has been saying. If you've heard the same basic idea in another song, it's probably not going to fly."

Give them well-structured songs with modern melodies, and a visual, engaging, and direct storyline that Nashville loves to hear! Your chorus needs to be incredibly strong and ready for radio. You'd be wise to have a solid, super confident vocal performance to get the Publisher and Artist excited about cutting your song. Your demo quality should be competitive with songs being pitched on the Row.

The specific deal points will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis directly with the Publisher. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. NEW LISTING -- INDIE FOLK/ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for several, $2,000, Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Supervisor placements in a brand new Dramatic TV Series. They’re looking for introspective, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of acts like (but not limited to) The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, The Head and the Heart, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get in the general ballpark of what they need:

“Gun Song” by The Lumineers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEykWAnEnGQ

“There Will Be Time” by Mumford & Sons:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3SqbihJd04

“Another Story” by The Head and the Heart:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyn9kmuIwqA

Please submit well-crafted songs that use authentic Folk/Rock instrumentation. With that said, your songs can be more stripped down, using only acoustic-based instruments, or a fuller sound with additional Rock-based instrumentation. Your vocals should have an honest approach, with an overall performance that emotionally connects to the audience in a meaningful way. Songs should have engaging melodies, attention grabbing ear-candy (lyrically and melodically), and a chorus that truly shines.

Lyric themes can vary, but should have a heartfelt approach, similar to the references above. Universal lyrics will work best, so please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this is $2,000. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights (no publishing splits), plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. If you need a refresher course, please listen to these references:

Virtually any lyrics will work for this pitch as long as they are in line with what artists of that period sang about. Even political lyrics can work! Stripped-down versions (guitar/vocal), or fuller, more produced versions could work.

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that is authentically from a particular time period. This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this!

Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) while still keeping their writer’s share of the publishing and getting performance royalties from their PRO on the back end! Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORINDGS, as long as the sound quality is reasonably good.

This is a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market. If you’ve got material that was recorded on an old 4-track or 8-track, bust them out for this Listing! Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be Original Compositions (no covers), and you need to own/control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS!

Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, May 31st, 2016. TAXI #U160531FF

If your song has time or place references that are party-related, those should be fine. “Gonna party all night and tear the roof off this place,” would work. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and vibe.

The estimated license fee for this placement is $5,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music-Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by the film’s Music Supervisor (schedule permitting). Yep, you read that right! No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than 11:59pm (PDT), Friday, June 3rd, 2016. TAXI #U160603LP

CONTEMPORARY R&B SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by a Multi-Platinum, Grammy-Winning Record Producer that's consistently working with really talented artists on a number of new projects. NEW LISTING -- Original, Retro-Inspired FUNKY SOUL SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for an estimated $5,000, Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor Feature Film placement. The Supervisor is eagerly searching for songs at the exact same tempo as “Tighten Up” by Archie Bell & The Drells (123-126 bpm). Capturing the overall vibe of that song is a good idea, but do not even THINK about cloning it! Please listen to the following references to get yourself in the general ballpark of what they’re looking for:

“Tighten Up” by Archie Bell & The Drells
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wro3bqi4Eb8

“I Left My Heart In San Francisco” by Bobby Womack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08AolvU-JZo

“Superfly” by Curtis Mayfield
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cmo6MRYf5g

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “The tempo MUST be the same as “Tighten Up” because the visual is the film’s main character dancing to it. It needs to be at least 2 minutes long and the lyrics must be positive. The retro feel in “Tighten Up” is great, but the most important thing is that the song has to be very cool -- this is the character’s music he's dancing to, and he is very cool.”

Please submit well-crafted, late ’60s to early ’70s Funky Soul songs with infectious grooves, and an authentic sounding retro vibe. Typical Soul/R&B band instrumentation works great for this pitch, but adding some horns or a Hammond B-3 would probably put a smile on this Supervisor’s face!

Your songs need to be at least 2 minutes long. Lyric themes can vary, but need to be positive and something you’d typically hear in a funky retro Soul song. Universal lyrics will work best, so please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form – especially Archie Bell! Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and funky vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this project is $5,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music-Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by the film’s Music Supervisor!! No full critiques. RETRO-inspired INDIE ROCK BANDS with Male Vocals are needed by a big deal Indie Record Label distributed through a Major that's looking for the next big thing. They're looking for great bands that you'd expect to hear on a playlist with the likes of (but not limited to):

Cage The Elephant:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA-gGl6qihQ

Tame Impala:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBzrzS1Ag_g

Deerhunter:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG6jk5Q90DA

Quoting the source: "Indie Rock Bands with throwback overtones. Great songwriting, vibe, and cool performance with attitude overshadow technique. A little bit garage, a little bit psychedelic."

Give them material that showcases your band's unique, yet familiar throwback sound and style, in a hip, "Indie" kind of way. Your songs should be solid from start to finish, with a vocal performance that's all your own. Your overall demo presentation should be solid for this pitch. NEW LISTING -- Original, American-Themed ROCK SONGS are needed for a $5,000, Direct-to-Ad Agency, Non-Exclusive placement in a Major American Automobile Manufacturer’s online ad campaign for the 4th of July (Independence Day in the U.S.).

The Ad Agency is looking for a fresh take on Mid-to-Up-Tempo, patriotic songs (with Male or Female Vocals) that feature the name “America” in the lyrics, or lyrics about American ideals like; freedom, independence, liberty, pride, etc. They’re pretty wide open to ideas, but they seem to prefer Rock songs (most sub-genres of Rock could potentially work), or Rock songs with some Country influence and a big, anthemic chorus that makes viewers want to puff their chests out and proudly hold their heads up high.

Quoting the Ad Agency: “Find us something that inspires, encourages and gives hope.”

TAXI Tip: Because they didn’t give us any firm references and it’s early in the game for this commercial, we think you could push the stylistic envelope a bit and try things like Hick Hop or Funk Rock to grab their attention.

They’re NOT looking for dated material, Broadway-type “show tunes,” or Opera ;-)
Give them something that sounds contemporary and fresh, and will play well in the “Fly-Over States,” aka Middle America. And while something patriotic is in order for this pitch, don’t go for anything that’s slow and overly sappy. You should walk that fine line of puffing out your chest, putting a lump in listeners’ throats, but without sounding corny. TV Commercials almost always use emotionally uplifting music, and we don’t think this will be an exception. Here are some great examples of patriotic songs (some of which ARE dated) to get your wheels turning:

God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD4RFjmlzcQ

Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue by Toby Keith: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PXSK3iDeAI

Born Free by Kid Rock:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPhWR4d3FJQ

Made in America by Toby Ketih:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wb8XTXRUVM

American Bad A$$ by Kid Rock:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt84J7U75e0

Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPhWR4d3FJQ

Made in the USA by Demi Lovato (this one is probably too Pop, but the chorus is anthemic): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3zdIHDTbg0

Livin’ in America by James Brown:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3zdIHDTbg0

Please submit contemporary, full-length, well-crafted songs with well-performed vocals that will emotionally connect with the listeners’ patriotic hearts.

Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and places (except America or American places) will probably work best. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only for general inspiration. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The creative fee for this is $5,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Ad Agency placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights (no publishing splits), plus you’ll also get 100% of the creative fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please do not submit any material that is already in any exclusive catalogs. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI A&R person selected by the Ad Agency - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on WEDNESDAY, May 25th, 2016. TAXI #U160525AR

NEW LISTING -- BLUES-Inspired ROCK SONGS are needed for a $15,000-$25,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement in a Feature Film Trailer. They’re looking for great Mid-to-Up-Tempo Blues-Inspired Rock Songs that you’d hear on playlists with bands like (but not limited to) The Peach Kings, Heavy Young Heathans, Hanni El Khatib, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get yourself in the general ballpark of what they’re looking for:

“Thieves and Kings” by The Peach Kings
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHOiRiPDWt4

“Sha la la la la” by Heavy Young Heathans
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btfA-gyTEZc

“You Rascal You” by Hanni El Khatib
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmfy_5nAH_U

Please submit well-crafted Bluesy Rock songs with a gritty, raw vibe. Authenticity is key, so a hip “lo-fi” sound and production style could work really well for this pitch. Your vocal performance should have plenty of gritty attitude as well, on top of overdriven guitars and an infectious, in-the-pocket rhythm section.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that’s consistent with themes commonly heard in the Bluesy Rock genre. Universal lyrics are needed, so please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, places, and profanity.

Submit full-length songs. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced bands or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and feel. Non-Faded endings might work best, but we don’t think a faded ending would be a deal breaker if your song is right for the pitch. Stylistically appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). In other words, if your recording is a little rough around the edges and not too slick, that could be a good thing!

The estimated Sync fee for the placement is $15,000-$25,000. Give him well-crafted Alt Rock songs with engaging melodies, a big, radio-friendly chorus, and lyrics that are relatable but fresh. In other words, don't say it like it's been said a hundred times before! A vocal performance that's strong enough to help sell this producer and the artists he's working with on cutting your song is a big plus. Acoustic, guitar or piano/vocal demos will work for this Producer, but your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well.

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Monday, June 13th, 2016. TAXI #Y160613AR

The Biggest Mistake Most Musicians Make

Dear Passengers,

If I had to pick one career-killing mistake that I've seen thousands of times over the last 24 years it's this: Successful musicians take action as quickly as possible, even though they may fail. Un-successful musicians don't!

Successful songwriters, artists, and composers understand that failure is an immensely valuable part of the process of becoming successful. They've figured out that the more often they fail, the faster they become successful!

Seems simple enough, doesn't it? So, answer me this...

How often have you seen a great opportunity for your music and thought, "I've got the perfect song and I'll submit it right after I get home from work."

But you don't, and this is probably the "reason" why...

That little voice that chatters in your head and secretly asks, "Am I good enough?"

Then you eat your dinner, watch some TV, go to bed, and your music stays right where it's always been — on your computer. Failure is guaranteed!

And that fear of failure keeps you right where you've been for years — maybe even decades — standing still, doing nothing, and silently being a little envious of musicians like these.

There's another kind of failure that's actually good for you!

Good failure is the kind you learn from! Savvy musicians know this and use it to break through the clutter and rise above the millions of musicians who don't.

Why am I talking to you about this today?

As I looked over the 35 new Industry Listings you are about to see, I noticed some repeat Listings. They're from companies that got music from TAXI and loved it. But they didn't get enough! Can you imagine that... more demand than supply? Like there's a shortage of musicians who would love to make some money with their music!!!!

"The music you sent was spot on! I need more of the same. Very good A&R work by TAXI. Thank you so much!"

That's a direct quote from an email I got a couple weeks ago!

The reason they didn't get enough music to fill their needs is simple: Thousands of musicians simply didn't act quickly enough.

They thought about submitting. They intended to submit when they got home from work that night. But self doubt or fear of failure caused them to procrastinate. They ate dinner, they watched some TV, they went to bed, and they missed a golden opportunity to get their music to one of the top people in the Sports TV music industry!

And the guy was starving for a ton of great, new music! How often do you have the opportunity to get your music to somebody who can't wait to get it?

The answer is, "Every day if you're shrewd enough to exploit all the opportunities TAXI sticks right under your nose." Do you open those emails that have new opportunities every day?

After 24 years of helping musicians become successful, I think the biggest mistake they make is not stepping up to the plate and taking a swing. If you don't swing, you can't hit the ball.

Take the swing!

If you swing and miss, so what?! It's just one pitch... just one piece of music that could be perfect for another pitch. But you'll never know if you don't take the swing.

Homeruns are great, but so are base hits. A swing and a miss also pays a dividend if you learn what you should do better next time!

Talk to you soon,
Michael

CUSTOM CRITIQUES

If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.
Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.
For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
