I believe in the power of music to take listeners to places they might not otherwise go. I draw on life's journey and reflect it back, in music. I hope to inspire contemplation, thoughtfulness, and dreams.
The music? On one side - ambient instrumentals, modern classical and chamber, and piano solos, evoking beauty, sadness, regret, and hope. In style and texture, my instrumental compositions have been compared with Max Richter, and Erik Satie. My piano solo work has been heard on BBC television as well as European internet radio and has been published by 10Miles, distributed by Universal. My recordings of three compositions - piano solos - were released on 10Miles "SoloPiano - Mideast Mediterranea 3" in March 2020: "Balkan Moon Dance", "Walking with Ismail", and "Elira is Dreaming" - available at https://www.universalproductionmusic.com/en-lae/discover/albums/23094/solopiano-mideast-mediterranea-3.
On the other side... I also write, record and perform as a singer-songwriter - Americana-ish-folkie-tinged pop-flavored sometimes retro songs with ambient lyrical sprinkles and the expected singer-songwriter angst and introspection, delivered with an authentic indie vocal style. Examples of singer-songwriter songs on my Taxi page include "Lullaby" and "This Time" (a previous Taxi forward).
I've performed with bands and artists in the Philadelphia and New York City area, but am currently focused on writing and producing in-studio, with occasional solo appearances in friendly listening rooms around the Philadelphia area.
My most recent ambient/piano/modern chamber releases, "The Passage" (2023), "Time Stands Still" (2025) and "Snow Walk" (2025) are available at: https://vincentschiela.bandcamp.com/. "The Passage" is also distributed globally by Modern Classical X.
