Along with a bunch of original songs, Shimmer Road has reworked many favourites from today's top country artists and mainstream 90's rock/alternitive artists. When you come to the show, you are treated to a two hour journey of sites and sounds, incorporating next level visuals and lights with a steller performance by top American musicians!

Scalable from a 45 minute opener set, to a full 90 minute set and 45 minute tag, The show is an incredibler journey of new music and nostalga mixed with updated versions of 90s rock/alternative songs.

Shimmer Road travels with techs, a ground lighting package, video elements and their own production.

Every show is full of incredible music and relentless energy from an amazing group of top musicians. Even small venue perfomances are designed to feel like a full blown concert!

"We set out to create a show that is visually stunning, combining theatre elements with a live music performance. Part of this was creating something that brings the audience into the show, like theatre. We created a virtual road trip, where we all drive together and listen to great music, remember important events, and share an experience together! By the end of the show, the audience has been taken hundreds of miles away from their problems and we have shared stories and had a great time!"

Having spent her formative high school years growing up in Branson, Missouri, Grammy nominated singer Shimmer Johnson is no stranger to country music. Although she is mostly known as a topliner for EDM DJs, she has toured her adult contemporary music as well as metal projects "DeBenedetta", and "Circle the Wolves" and now Country Group "Shimmer Road"

"I studied choral, but learned harmony by singing along to country music as a teen. My influences were diva singers like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston ..., and harmony is huge in my original music as well as my favourite stuff to sing to.

"Performing is the most fullfilling part of being an artist, and country fans give back the most in a live enviroment. Everyone dances and sings along, it's really powerful and exciting. This show is a very cool version of a huge tour show, but we made it fit into all venue sizes. I own my own production company, which I built years ago to bring beter production to bar shows I was doing on the weekends. The company is pretty big now, and we do festival stages and such, but the bands who tour festivals can't bring 'full on tour' production to their shows... I'm in a unique position to do just that as I own the equipment and I'm surrounded by exceptionally talented technicians who really love to push boundries."

JAY ROADS

Jay Roads, a seasoned drummer with deep roots in rock, metal, and progressive music, took a bold step into the country scene with Shimmer Road.

After years of performing alongside major acts like A Perfect Circle, Korn, and Three Days Grace and reuniting his former band Fear of City, Jay was ready for a new challenge.

A chance encounter with Shimmer Johnson led to an undeniable creative spark, and together, they formed Shimmer Road—a fusion of heartfelt country and rock energy, bringing a fresh sound to the stage.

RYAN WILLIAMS

Former founding member and guitarist for Aperture, Ryan makes his second foray into country music with Shimmer Road, his first being a brief three-minute engagement in Nashville. When not slinging steel on stage, Ryan sells houses under the moniker Rock Star Realtor. He's Also a killer Pedal Steel Guitar Player and Vocalist. Making Ryan an amazing addition to the Shimmer Road Family.

CIRLCE THE WOLVES BIO: (METAL / ROCK MUSIC)

Fronted by a powerhouse vocalist Shimmer Johnson, Circle the Wolves combines metal with an orchestral and piano style, heavy on wavetable synthesis to complete a total sonic experience. With virtuoso leads, and complicated chord structures found in most classical music, overlaid by unique vocals and harmonies, the listener isn’t even aware of the complexity of the music supporting the female led band. Coupled with a unique stage show, Circle the Wolves is truly a diamond in the gothic-metal scene.

How It All Started…

Steven Johnson is no stranger to the Alberta music scene. A gifted player and instructor, he’s been active doing live shows and festivals most of his life both as a player, and technician. That’s how he met Corey and when Steven had the opportunity to visit the Catalyst studio, the song Existence was born.

They wrote every week for several months to complete the first Circle the Wolves album and are now working on the second album with the addition of bassist Benn Mulholland and drummer Keith Runco, (Who has cut on several albums for Catalyst Records).

With most releases going into the ether of obscurity, Circle the Wolves is building a satellite and terrestrial following in radio and selling albums on iTunes as the current focus, but would love fans to share streaming links as well.

Circle the Wolves has been booking live events with label mate Night Haven another female fronted metal band.

STEVEN JOHNSON : An alumni of one of the finest arts universities in Canada, Steven is a teacher, performer and resource for hundreds of musicians in the Canadian music scene Along with writing and recording for Circle the Wolves, Steven works on ambient tracks based on acoustic guitar and synthesis models.
He is also the proud father of Stella Johnson (18), who is a folk phenom having shared stages with some of the biggest and beat Alberta musicians on some of the best folk stages in the country.

COREY JOHNSON: Corey has been an engineer and producer in Canada for decades, way back to tape based systems. He has helped launch the careers of hundreds of Canadian artists, spent time as a broadcast engineer, and has worked with legends in the international music community.
Corey is a co-owner of Catalyst Production, which includes a live sound production company, record label, recording studio, publishing company and video production company.

SHIMMER JOHNSON: Singer -Songwriter and vocal producer, Shimmer Johnson is the key to the sound of Circle the Wolves. Shimmer has the most beautiful tone thats unlike anyone out there. Shimmer has crafted a distinct sound for Circle the Wolves that truly is in another world. She writes the most amazing melody lines that are not only clever but emotionally driven. KEITH RUNCO: Live and session musician Keith Runco has enjoyed a great career as a drummer in Canada. He’s played on huge stages, toured internationally, and during Covid, he spent the balance of his time in the studio writing with several diverse artists. In fact, he’s played on over 70 tracks in the last year and recorded six albums! Along with Circle the Wolves, he is part of the new-metal band Dead by Morning, which will be releasing their debut album spring of 2022.

BEN MULHOLLAND: Benn is one of the most energetic and lively performers to ever take a Canadian stage! He’s played on huge festivals, toured extensively and recorded with some of Alberta’s most amazing and creative bands. A consummate professional, he is practiced and tight, and when he hits the stage, he’s impossible to ignore, his energy is infectious and takes the crowd by storm!
