I'm Roo McKeller.

I couldn't imagine a world without music, could you? It plays such an important role in everyone's lives, whether big or small. As far back as I can remember, it has been the vehicle for my expressionism. I can't remember exactly when music became part of my life, but I know I never really started living it until I began to write & produce songs. Now, music is my life.

I often look at the world & think how different I am to most of the people I meet. I seem to notice so much more & focus on the things they don't. I used to wonder if there was something wrong with me because I've never met anyone quite the same, but as I walk my journey I've learned that God created me so unique for a reason. I once read a statement that said, "Whenever you feel like you don't fit into this world, remember you were born to help create a new one."

And that's what I do. Through my songs, I try to change the world a little bit at a time. I appreciate not everyone will like my music, but I'm not writing songs for them. I'm writing songs for the ones who are searching... searching for who they are, asking the questions no one else is daring to ask. I'm writing songs for the lost & lonely, the scared & scarred.

Words are so powerful. You can change one letter & LOVE becomes LOSE. And by changing one note of a chord from major to minor, you can make a happy person feel sad, just like that. Music is a universal language, understood by all & so vital in a world where people are finding it increasingly difficult to connect with one another, even with the huge advances in communication technology we have today. It's just such a pity so many people only use music to make money.

Music is so much more than that. It's a powerful tool that can change the world. Maybe not today, but as more & more people come to understand it's magic, that's when we'll start to see amazing things happen. Everyone of us has a story, even you. But when you turn a story into a song, suddenly people stop what they're doing & really pay attention. I've spent most of my life in the background, being noticed was never that important to me. But when I sing, everyone takes notice. Of course, it isn't really me they're listening to, it's my song. I'm just the one fortunate enough to have written it. As Sting said during his lifetime achievement award acceptance speech, "Music is it's own reward." How very true!

So that's me... one of seven billion other people on this planet right now, all living their unique stories. Yes, I'm different. But I'm supposed to be different. So many of us are scared to be who we really are because of how we think we'll be judged by our peers. Please, don't be. All the greatest achievements in the world have come from people just like us, thinking outside the box, daring to be different, embracing who they are & not colouring inside the lines.
