" Music is a power that puts me in touch with the source of love and beauty inside each of us."
Monika Cyrani has been creating her own songs from early childhood. Despite living behind the then Iron Curtain in Prague, she asserted her one and only wish to have a piano. This seemed an impossible dream, but Monika had no doubt it would come true, and so it miraculously did. The daring flight to freedom when Monika was 13 meant leaving everything behind, becoming a refugee, and moving into an unknown future. Monika has devoted her life to her music, composing, performing, recording, and producing eleven albums of her songs. Three of these are in English in collaboration with Lyricist Patricia Biondo. Their latest CD is "The Fire in You" is composed of songs such as:
Aren't I a Human? - a plea for understanding and equality, sung from a woman's point of view
One Body, One Humankind - a vision of peace once we see the common bonds that connect us all as one
A New Wind Blowing - a promise of a new relationship to each other at this crucial time of change
The basic premise of the songs is the human experience we all share, and how to best navigate life's challenges to us personally and to our place in our society. To do so, we can harness our inner knowing, our creativity and our hearts and minds to create lives worth living.
