Tramp Steamer
Grahamsville, New York
I learned to play the mandolin in elementary school and took the music class for five years.
My next physical musical activity was almost 40 years later when I started taking piano lessons for six years, pipe organ for a year, guitar for five. Self taught drums and bass. Most influenced by Frank Zappa and Steely Dan. My two daughters contributed with the alto sax and trombone and backup vocals till they flew the coop to the opposite ends of the country. Tramp Steamer is a lyric driven lo-fi sound. Several of my songs have been streamed hundreds of times, mostly by international listeners from Europe to South America to Japan on Amazon/Apple/youtube. From what I can tell, without any proper promotional effort, listeners will stumble upon the work and repeat-listen dozens of times. I scored a 13-minute film "Fox at the Gates" for my younger daughter who's now an animator on the West Coast. I sporadically put out blues piano tutorials on my youtube channel @trampsteamer and instagram @lgulari. I am very much motivated to bring a few musicals, the scores of which were appreciated by small audiences, to stage. Also waiting for the right singers/bands to materialize to sing a few albums worth of songs of the substansive kind.
