Damen Samuel is more than a singer/songwriter; he's a travelling troubadour with a gift for weaving stories into song. His music is a rich tapestry, blending the soulful depths of Folk, the raw energy of Rock, the intricate textures of Jazz, and an undeniable current of Soul.

Damen's voice possesses a unique quality – both hauntingly expressive and deeply soothing, drawing listeners into his world with every note. As Rolling Stone aptly put it, "... Damen performs powerfully and expressively, and his performance involves and convinces..."

Born and raised in the former socialist East Germany, Damen found his earliest solace and defiance in the power of words. Against a backdrop of political constraint, he turned to pen and paper, observing the world through his own eyes and transforming his nascent poetry into song. After exploring various rock bands, his true calling emerged: the intimate, powerful path of the singer/songwriter.
His journey led him to the vibrant pulse of New York City in the early 2000s, where he quickly became part of the Brooklyn and Lower East Side music scenes. It was here that he honed his craft, refining his songwriting and live performance skills. The fruits of this era can be heard on his EP, Storyteller, recorded with Grammy-winning producer Silas Brown (Chick Corea).

A move to Melbourne, Australia, marked another significant chapter, leading to the release of his first full-length album, A Gypsy's Lullaby. This record garnered widespread airplay and positive reviews from Australian and international outlets alike. Chris Cobcroft - 4ZZZ Radio, (Brisbane) wrote; “Damen’s strongest gift by far is his voice, which sits strange but true somewhere between Nick Drake and Anthony Hegarty….”

His most recent offering, Odyssey, was recorded back in NYC at The Buddy Project Studio. This record saw him collaborate with esteemed producer Kieran Kelly (known for his work on Angus & Julia Stone's “Down the Way”) and featured the legendary Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley’s band) on drums and electric guitar, adding a compelling new layer to Damen’s sound. With German and Nigerian roots, Damen Samuel is a truly international artist,
traversing continents as he shares his music. He regularly travels between Melbourne,
the U.S., and Europe, playing festivals and live shows, while building an ever-growing global audience. Currently, Damen is putting the final touches on his new album, Goodbye Tomorrow, with the first single, ‘Close Your Eyes,’ already released.
