Norma LaTuchie’s musical experience spans decades of performances as a classical and jazz flutist, composer and orchestrator in a variety of genres, including chamber ensembles, full orchestra and jazz ensembles. Norma co-created a television animation pilot for kids for which she also composed the music.
LaTuchie’s self-produced EP, Circus/ O Circo features her jazz and Brazilian-influenced compositions. Musicians featured on the recording include Toninho Horta, Kana Shimanuki, Fabiano Nascimento, Randy Tico, Sergio Brandao, Kevin Fukagawa, Manolo Badrena, Paulo Braga, Tiki Pasillas and children's vocal ensemble.
Norma has performed and/or recorded with such luminaries including: Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro, Cyro Baptista, Kenny Werner, Joe Lovano, Bill Frisell, Fred Hersch, Teka, Astrud Gilberto, Tom Rainey, Romero Lubambo, Duduka Fonseca, Dennis Irwin, Hubert Laws, Toots Thielmans, Danny Gottlieb, Marc Egan, Ratzo Harris, Billy Drewes, Jane Ira Bloom, to name a few.
Norma has spent many years teaching instrumental music, improvisation and composition to young musicians, and is currently on faculty at Seven Arrows Elementary in Santa Monica.
