The Matches Ignite Industry Blaze

Major Record Label Industry
Listen to "Audio Blood" by The Matches:

Major Record label A&R people turned out in big numbers for southern California showcases by Punk/Pop band the Matches.

The hard-working Oakland, California teenagers have been doing all the right things by building a local fan base, selling their own independent CDs, and by joining TAXI, of course. The band has been forwarded to eight major labels through TAXIís Industry Listings.

The guysí efforts are paying off in increased industry attention, and they and their manager are now fielding offers from major record companies.

In early May, the Matches came down to L.A. to play a showcase gig at the world-famous Troubador. Their industry buzz (with help from TAXI) drew A&R people from labels such as Atlantic, MCA, Island Def Jam, American Recordings, Lava, Interscope, Ultimatum, and more.

The band (Shawn Harris, Justin Sansouci, Jon Devoto, and Matt Whalen) destroyed the crowd with a tight, energetic set of melodic songs at least the equal of any platinum-selling band in this genre.

The A&R crowd apparently agreed. The buzz built to the point that the guys were asked to do a moments-notice private showcase for Capitol Records the next day. Since then, the offers have started coming in.

Savvy manager Miles Hurwitz knows that it is often a combination of events and efforts that bring success. “The band’s work was starting to create a buzz for the band. TAXI helped take that buzz to the next level” declares Hurwitz.

As of this writing, the band is receiving offers from multiple labels and weighing their options. One thing is certain, youíll be hearing from the Matches soon.
