I was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi to a HUGE family, in which I am the youngest of 10. Growing up, my siblings sang all the time, so there was never a dull moment in our household. It was inevitable that the gift would be passed down to me, and as a result, I have been singing ever since I can remember! We grew up in church and that is where almost all of my singing/performing experience has come from. Growing up in church gave me the soulful side of my voice; however, as a child and teenager, I always gravitated more towards Disney and pop-sounding music instead of gospel. Even though I grew up very shy and reserved, as I matured, I realized my voice was getting better and better, and I started to nurture and hone in on my abilities with self-teaching. Throughout my teenage years, I developed a deeper passion for music from watching singing competition shows on tv, and that caused me to have a strong desire to "go big" and work in the music industry one day as a performer. I began to develop a soulful pop sound that was unique to me, and I stuck with it even into college and adulthood. While in college, I sort of lost track of my love for singing and mainly focused on my education and securing a good job in corporate America. However, it was during my junior year when that passion sparked back up in me, as I watched a friend's sibling "blow up" on YouTube and in the music scene after joining a boyband. Something about that hit close to home and initiated a shift in me, and I knew without a doubt that I only wanted to sing for the rest of my life. So, I started posting covers online and going to audition after audition, in an attempt to push myself and make my dreams come true. In the midst of my music pursuits, I was still able to graduate college with a Math degree, move back home, and continue the audition "grind". After facing a TON of rejection, I was finally casted on the 19th season of American Idol, and I scored a golden ticket to Hollywood! Even though I didn't win the show, it was still a life-changing experience and it taught me a lot about the music industry world. It was an experience that confirmed that this is where I want to be forever! After Idol, I released my first ever music project in 2021 — a Holiday EP, entitled "A Brighter Christmas", which featured my first original song, "Brighter With You". Additionally, I was also fortunate enough to become acquainted with Wanya Morris, from Boyz II Men, through his popular Instagram vocal competition, where I was a top 10 finalist out of 300 contestants. That experience certainly put a fire under me and gave me more confidence than ever, especially having someone of Wanya's status believe and see something special in me! Most recently, I released my first original single called "Always Been", which is an inspirational Pop song, with a "Summer vibe", about following and fulfilling your dreams. It's definitely a song for ALL the dreamers out there, and my hope is that it inspires people EVERYWHERE! I would say my sound and artistry is influenced by artists like Justin Bieber, Josh Levi, Tori Kelly, Ben Platt, Tauren Wells, Lewis Capaldi, James Arthur, and Alessia Cara.
