Hello...I'm Sienna and I love making music. I am based in Adelaide, Australia, and when I'm not strumming my heart out at local wineries, or playing grand piano in lounge bars (gotta love a good high tea!), I enjoy painting and gardening. I swapped my pet cat in a trade for my first guitar when I was 15*, and I have written about a hundred songs every year since then. I just write for the joy of it, but occasionally bands and recording artists will take one of my songs and run with it, which I love, because it amazes me to hear how a song will always unfurl differently in their hands, as they make it their own.
I look up to songwriters from the 60s and 70s, for the way they approach lyrics and groove, people like Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and bands like Steely Dan and Dr Hook, but the music I produce has a current flavour; I use contemporary sound design and am drawn to beats that would sit on indie chill out playlists amid new trending artists. I like to spark magic between what's infectious about pop music, and what's raw about indie music. Relaxing vibes, smooth vocals, and catchy hooks are some of the common threads between my songs as I tend to dance between chill-out, acoustic and indie pop.
Between 2009-2019 I performed full-time, in a few different bands. I've performed at festivals, had residencies, played private shows, interstate tours; as a singer and multi instrumentalist I have never been short of an opportunity to play. Covid lockdowns slowed down my pace significantly though, so I took the energy from live shows to the studio instead. I started developing some songs in the home studio and with help from some of my producer friends, I'm learning a lot about audio production. I still have a way to go in regards to producing, but I am keen to share some music, so I thought I'd release some of my own songs as a solo artist. When there's so many tunes to choose from, it's been surprisingly challenging to choose what I should release first, but I'm rolling with whatever I'm most excited to play for my friends. Maybe they're not my best songs, and they're not the most pop sounding or commercial, but for whatever reason, they are what I love listening to. They have a feeling about them, that I absolutely love and it makes me excited to share them.
Every Afternoon (released Nov 2021) is my first single, and there's a debut EP expected in 2022.
*Don't worry, the cat was fine about the arrangement! The trade was between myself and my brother, with whom I lived. Sadly, I am allergic to cats, and as it turned out, my cat liked him better anyway! It seemed a fair deal at the time seeings I literally didn't put his guitar down until I could play it.
