Heather Michelle Petee is a songwriter and for over 40 years has pursued the craft because "I have to, it is who I am and what I love."
In 2017 Mike received a regional Emmy Award nomination for "Trail Magic: The Grandma Gatewood Story" that IMB scored 8 out of 10. Mike wrote and performed the title song for the documentary and served as music consultant.The documentary is about the first woman to solo traverse the Appalachian Trail in the 1950's named Grandma Gatewood.
He has been songwriting and singing with various bands and styles as well as recorded in major studios in Cleveland, Nashville, Tulsa (The Church once owned by Leon Russell) and Los Angeles.
He has scored regional hits with his song "Weariness" with Silverhorse in the early 1980's and recorded, produced and released songs as a solo artist with his songs "I'm Yours," "Never Let You Go" and "Pledge of Love."
Mike has written and produced songs that have appeared in two movies, written and performed songs and a reader's theater production of "Love Medicine" by National Book Award winner Louise Erdrich and presented at Kenyon College, when Erdrich was awarded the annual Kenyon Review Award.
He was awarded most promising new artist by The Entertainer Indi-Association in Nashville during their 1998 Winterfest Entertainer and Songwriters' Awards Show and the Dan Emmett Award for lifetime achievement in songwriting and carrying on the spirit of Dan Emmett as a songwriter in 2010.
Overall, Mike has been writing and performing and recording and honing his skills since high school and now in his 60's, Mike has never lost his love to create and the flow of songs is even greater now than at any time in his life and writes because "I have to. That's what I was created to do."
