Liz Dimo is a composer for film and TV. She is a talented guitarist, multi-instrumentalist (guitars, synthesizers, drums, percussion, piano, saxophones, flute, bouzouki, basically anything she can get her hands on), and vocalist. She has long considered herself a one-woman-band, and plays every instrument herself, often using live recording to create unique sounds. Her sense of tempo, rhythm, and mood is exceptional, creating synergy and always enhancing visual scenes, and she has an incredible ability to express feeling and emotion through music. She has a fascination with sound, rhythm, and music and has been creating since childhood. She is passionate about performing and creating original and compelling sounds.
Dimo is also a talented songwriter, producer, and former bassist and vocalist of Toronto-based indie experimental dream pop band, Papermaps. She has repeat performances at POP Montreal, Halifax Pop Explosion, CMJ Music Marathon, NXNE, and more under her belt. But her debut EP, Ten Years, marks something long awaited by many, Liz Dimo as what she does best: the solo artist. Considering herself a one-woman band since childhood, Dimo finally releases an EP that most who know her have been expecting for as long as they’ve known her. Except, she takes the term ‘solo artist’ to the extreme. Dimo writes, records, produces, performs, and mixes every track herself, with the only other person to touch the tracks being her Mastering Engineer.
Her songwriting is largely autobiographical and draws on inspiration from love, heartbreak, letting go, and learning to love oneself. Her songs range in sound from indie rock, to subdued and sparse heartbreak ballads, all the way to sophisticated, cinematic art rock, but they always maintain Liz Dimo’s unique and compelling sound.
