Hello: I am an independent songwriter from Northern California who writes in the Americana/Singer-Songwriter style.

My goal is to write songs that "tell a story" and have emotional/memorable "hooks" and melodies.

In the past year, I have won several "Song of the Month" and "Performance of the Month" awards from West Coast Songwriters. I also attended Rodney Crowell's Songwriting week-long 2018 retreat for 100+ songwriters in Carmel, CA - where several of my songs received wonderful reactions and comments - and I was one of 20 songwriters selected to perform in the finale concert selected by Rodney Crowell, Joe Henry, Lisa Loeb, Allen Shamblin, among other judges.

I also have written two songs to raise awareness of the link between PTSD and soldier/veteran suicides. One is called OH JIMMY, THIS AIN'T RIGHT, and my music video of that song is attached on this Taxi.com website as well as my personal website at www.georgekgibson.com.

(>>>Update: On July 1, 2019, OH JIMMY, THIS AIN'T RIGHT was selected "Song of the Year" for our local Chapter of West Coast Songwriters so I will compete against 15 other chapter winners throughout the West Coast on September 6, 2019 in Berkeley, CA).

The other song is called THE MIRROR and I wrote it after hearing of various personal battles of Veterans and PTSD.

So, I have joined TAXI to take the next step and push myself to hopefully write even better songs in the future for publication by other singers as the professionals may suggest.
