Josh Ricchio is an LA-based songwriter, composer and producer, as well as the founder and CEO of Sing Engine Records (est. 2010, Brooklyn, NY), and the driving force behind the indie band, Freak Owls. He’s also the other half of the writing/production duos, Will Phåråoh (electronic), The Kat & Josh (singer/songwriter), Woves (synth wave), and most recently Dune Pulses (composition). He has played hundreds of gigs as a solo artist and for other artists, & earned a degree in Songwriting & Composition from the McNally Smith College of Music in Minneapolis in 2001.
After a cross-country move with his wife and dog to LA via Brooklyn in 2013, Josh started producing and releasing more artists through Sing Engine as well as writing custom music for TV/Film and other artists and record labels. His songs and music have been featured in numerous tv & film projects, and he has been nominated for such songwriting awards as The John Lennon, SongCircle, and 100% Music Songwriting Competitions.
In 2018, Josh built a writing/recording studio on his property, and along with long-time writing partner, Kolby Wade, wrote and released two all-analog synth LP’s (á la Stranger Things) under the pseudonym KW | JR. Subsequent releases from Freak Owls (‘Wash Away EP’) and a commissioned LP from Woves (Chaos Mesa) while also producing multiple artists kept him busy for the next 2 years.
Most recently, Josh has taken the extra downtime of the 2020 pandemic to focus more on composing orchestral music for film, and has been posting a couple a week as Dune Pulses on the Sing Engine Records SoundCloud page.
