I am a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. My studio is in Northern California, where I record music under my own name, and as Sons of the Golden West.
As Sons of the Golden West, my latest album, “Punch Drunk Moon,” received significant airplay. More than 50 radio stations played the album in 2020. The album made the chart at three stations, peaking at number two at WLFR, Galloway, NJ. Three of the tracks have been placed on TV or in film.
Under my own name, my first single, “Wake Me In Paris” (co-written with Scott Mickelson), was a semi-finalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition (unsigned category).
On Spotify, Sons of the Golden West has attracted more than 7,000 listeners and Eric Butterfield is nearing 4,000. Two of my performances on YouTube have been viewed over 3,000 times.
In the past few years, I have been interviewed and played live on three local radio stations in the San Francisco Bay Area: KOWS, Occidental; KRCB, Rohnert Park; and KWMR, Pt. Reyes Station. In August 2020, I recorded a four-song video performance for "Luther Locals," a show hosted by the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Sonoma County, California.
In total, my music has appeared in more than 300 TV show episodes, a few advertisements, and a couple of films. The final track on “Punch Drunk Moon” appeared in the documentary film, “There Is Many Like Us”. Other credits include NBC ("The Today Show"), CBS College Sports, A&E ("Born This Way"), MTV ("True Life"), Bravo ("Flipping Out"), Animal Planet, TLC, National Geographic Explorer, Discovery Channel ("Auction Kings"), and BBC America.
