David Rubenstein

I began composing as a teenager, under the tutelage of a jazz-piano teacher who taught me music theory, notation, arranging, improvisation and composing. Working as a scientist for my career, my sideline passion continued as a composer. Now that I am retiring, I am confident in my ability to compose and produce high-quality music. Some of my sheet music and audio productions have been placed in the catalogs of music publishing companies.
During much of my composing career, I composed music for live musicians; chamber music, jazz ensembles, vocal music, and concert band. As a result, I know what concert instruments should sound like. This has proven to be essential, as I have been producing virtual orchestrations over the past twenty years. I use the same skills to produce electronic music, and sometimes composing hybrid blends between the two styles.

When I work with a director or producer, I listen very carefully to his requirements. If temp tracks are available, I can copy the style and the mood, in order to convey the desired emotions. My goal is always to tell a story, in the way envisioned by the director.
