Hi. I'm Brian. From the age of about 14 i have been a touring musician, travelling around Ireland, England, mainland Europe and a little of the U.S.
I had started as a roadie, lifting gear, stacking, wiring, checking and packing. I then got incredibly interested in lighting, So, i decided to give that a go. As a colourblind person, my colour and light choices were definitely authentic. I used to manually run the lights along with the show which made me realize i was tapping in time with the drums..I HAD RHYTHM!!.
From there, drums became an obsession. I bought all the instructional videos i could find on tour (i come from a small town where the video store was also the hardware store) and watched them until the wore out or got jammed in the VCR and snapped.
This period in my life, from 15 to 18/19 was where I learned to play the drums, bass, guitar and piano. Then, I heard that a person could record on a PC for relatively cheap. So, I went to maplin, the Irish version of a radio shack, bought the parts to build a computer and bought a copy of Cakewalk guitar tracks. The following months were filled with just awful songs, bad tuning, bad timing, bad vocals but i was really falling in love with the process.
From the age of 20 to now, at 37, I've never missing a week where i don't record something, on some device. So, I thought I'd come here to Taxi and see if I can make a career out of what is the lowest stress thing in life...creation.
