CURRENT-SOUNDING ADULT CONTEMPORARY POP SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label for a Chart-Topping SUPERSTAR that’s working on his long-awaited new album. They’re currently on the hunt for great songs in All-Tempos that could be heard on the same playlist as artists like (but not limited to) James Bay, John Legend, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the references below to get an idea of the sound and style that could work for this pitch:

    “US” by James Bay

“All of Me” by John Legend

NOTE: Having a well-produced track could also put you ahead of the pack. However, stripped-down Piano/Vocal demos will work for this pitch as well, as long as they effectively get your song’s message across!

Your recording quality needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well. Please submit as many songs as you’d like online or per CD, include lyrics All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Quoting the A&R Executive: “I’m looking for songs that have the emotional narrative of Ben Folds and Sara Bareilles, with the Pop narrative of Charlie Puth’s “We Don't Talk Anymore” or James Arthur’s “Say You Won't Let Go” coupled with the soulfulness of “Overjoyed/Georgia On My Mind.”

    "Landed" by Ben Folds

    "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles

“We Don’t Talk Anymore” by Charlie Puth

“Say You Won't Let Go” by James Arthur

    "Overjoyed" by Stevie Wonder

"Georgia On My Mind" by Ray Charles

Please submit well structured UP-TEMPO Songs with infectious melodies, engaging production, and a huge, compelling chorus that brings it all home. You can go with a relatively simple Stripped-Down Guitar/Vocal or Piano/Vocal performance, as well as versions with a small ensemble or a full production. Having a compelling vocal performance could be the icing on the cake to get this artist and the label excited about cutting your song!

Your recording and mix need to be clean and well balanced to represent the song well and get them excited about cutting it. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD, Include Lyrics. ORIGINAL, CLASSIC-SOUNDING BLUES SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by an EXCLUSIVE, A-List Music Library with a seriously long list of great TV, Film, and Commercial placements. They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs (Contemporary or Vintage Recordings can both work) in the general stylistic ballpark of the tunes referenced below:

“The Thrill Is Gone” by B.B. King

“Don't Burn Down The Bridge” by Albert King

    “Smokestack Lightnin” by Howlin' Wolf

    “Mannish Boy” by Muddy Waters

Please submit original, soulfully expressive Blues Songs with tons of attitude and emotion. Having a killer melody; great guitar tones (and playing); and a strong, believably bluesy vocal performance could all make your song more appealing to this Music Library.

NOTE: You can submit recently recorded songs that are in the general stylistic ballpark; or if you’ve got any original vintage pieces (recorded back in the day), they would love to hear them as well.

Lyrics that avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity will be best for this pitch, but they’re not an absolute requirement. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener and must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018.  TAXI #S181106OB

    NEW LISTING --

OUTLAW COUNTRY SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Successful, high-end Music Library that primarily pitches to Advertising Campaigns. This company has just started running Listings with TAXI, so it’s very unlikely that you’ve got any music in their catalog. We think this is a killer opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build a relationship with this company.

They’re looking for authentic sounding, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could generally fit in the stylistic ballpark of the following references:

    "D.R.U.N.K." by Shooter Jennings

"Country Heroes" by Hank Williams, Jr.

“Outlaw State of Mind” by Chris Stapleton

Please submit well-crafted Songs that reflect the rugged, gritty, spirit of the Outlaw Country style above, with authentic-sounding instrumentation. Your submissions should be interesting and story driven and convey an authentic, down-home Country vibe that would fit on a playlist with the references above. Be sure your vocal performance is believable, with an honest Country vocal delivery.

NOTE: They’re not looking to hear songs in the style of "Pop" Country artists like Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum or Carrie Underwood. If you have songs that have a style, vibe, or lyrics that are in that ballpark, they won't work for this listing.

LYRIC Tip: Lyrically they’re looking to hear stories about overcoming problems like (but not limited to) lost love, alcoholism, lack of alcohol, loneliness, fighting with your family, or even being so troubled you are not able to get along with your own dog. (Seriously, they said that!)

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal, with a 3-year reversion. If they don’t get your song used during that term, you can get your rights back. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. Since this company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed to any other Libraries or Catalogs. You must own or control your Master and Copyright. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener who was handpicked by the Music Library– Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018.  TAXI #Y181120OC

    Folk

    Return to List of Categories

INDIE FOLK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Successful, high-end Music Library that primarily pitches to Advertising Campaigns. This company has just started running Listings with TAXI, so it’s very unlikely that you’ve got any music in their catalog. We think this is a killer opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build a relationship with this company.

They’re looking for compelling Indie Folk Songs in All-Tempos that could be found on a playlist with artists like (but not limited to) Mumford & Sons, Angharad Drake, Bright Eyes, Bon Iver, Nadia Reid, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to references they gave us to get in the stylistic ballpark of what they need:

    “Baby” by Angharad Drake

“First Day Of My Life” by Bright Eyes

“Little Lion Man” by Mumford & Sons

"The Arrow and The Aim" by Nadia Reid

    “Holocene” by Bon Iver

Please submit well-crafted songs that are lyrically and melodically engaging, and that have an authentic “Indie-style” vocal performance. Songs with typical Folk structure and that are primarily acoustic-based should work best. Something as simple as a guitar/vocal could actually work for this, as long as it’s done well! A small ensemble could also work. Group harmonies, foot stomps, and handclaps are all elements that could potentially fit nicely for this request.

Lyric themes can vary but should be consistent with themes you’d typically hear in the Indie Folk genre. Because this company primarily pitches to advertising, it's a good bet that emotionally positive ideas, concepts, and lyrics will fare better than moody, sad, or downer lyrics. It's not impossible that a song with moody lyrics could get used, but in our opinion, it's much less likely! Lyrics that don’t mention specific names, places, dates, times, brands, or profanity will be appreciated, but are not an absolute requirement. Do NOT copy the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Genre appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed. In other words, organic recordings that don’t sound too slick or over-produced will probably work best for this request.

All
submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Music Library and must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018.  TAXI #S181120IF

    Gospel

    Return to List of Categories

ORIGINAL, TRADITIONAL SOUTHERN GOSPEL SONGS with Male, Female and/or mixed Choir Vocals are needed by a Five-Star Music Library with a great track record of placing music by TAXI members in Film, TV, and Commercials. They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals (Contemporary or Vintage Recordings can both work) in the general stylistic ballpark of the tunes referenced below:

"Packin Up" by Clara Ward Singers

“When I Rose This Morning” by Mississippi Mass Choir

“The Old Ship Of Zion” by The Roberta Martin Singers

“This is the Day” by Soul Children of Chicago

“Glory to God in the Highest” by Soul Children of Chicago

NOTE: Due to the nature of this genre, the recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality. Great live recordings can work as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. However, if you have some great Gospel choir studio recordings, it could give you an edge, assuming all the other elements are there!

Please submit original, soulfully expressive Gospel songs that are deeply inspiring and emotionally engaging on all cylinders: rhythmically, vocally, melodically, and lyrically. Your song should have genre-appropriate production and instrumentation, with infectious grooves and foot-tapping rhythms. Group Choir Vocals, or Church Choirs that feature a main soloist, can both work as long as it has that big classic Gospel sound.

NOTE: Recent recordings can work for this request, but if you’ve got any original vintage songs, this Music Library would LOVE to hear them!

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you’d expect to hear from a choir in the Gospel genre. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for feel, texture, tone, and vibe. Era-Appropriate Broadcast quality is needed.

REIMAGINED, DARK & MOODY TRAILER-STYLE COVERS with Male, Female, or Duet Vocals are needed by a successful Music Licensing Company with tons of credits in HIT TV Shows!

They are in search of SONGS in:
    • Any Genre
    • Any Tempo
    • From any Era

Please take a listen to the following references to get a general idea of the type of material they need:

“Paint It, Black" (The Rolling Stones Cover) by Ciara

"Sweet Dreams" (Eurythmics Cover) by Marilyn Manson

“Happy Together” (The Turtles Cover)  by Filter

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” (Nirvana Cover) by Think Up Anger ft. Malia J

NOTE: Your covers can come from genres such as Rock, R&B, Country, Pop etc. as long as you keep things unique and engaging from top to bottom. Taking upbeat songs and making them dark and moody and more downbeat could make your submission stick out for this pitch.  Remember, DARK and MOODY is the overarching vibe they need!

Be sure to stay as close to the original lyrics as possible, so the root of the song is recognizable.  Having a compelling vocal performance with a strong, confident delivery could also help your song stand out for this pitch!  Otherwise, get creative and produce the song in a really cool and different way.

TAXI Tip 1: You don’t have to use all of the song’s original melody, but the song should be recognizable. If you stray too far away from the original melody or lyric, your cover may not be as appealing.

TAXI Tip 2: These are being pitched for Trailers, so experiment with breaking up the song structure to deliver a three-act trailer structure: An Intro that sets the tone, a Middle exposition, and a Final, big, huge, epic build.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Covers you submit for this pitch aren’t already signed to another catalog or any other libraries. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50 with the company. There are no performance royalties for cover versions of Public Domain material.

Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - Short Critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018.  TAXI #Y181114CS

DANCE-Y, GAME SHOW-Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a British Music Library with lots of placements. They are currently in catalog/genre expansion mode!
They’re on the hunt for a bunch of Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that are stylistically in the range of these examples we got from the Music Library:

    JACKPOT Example 1

    JACKPOT Example 2

Please submit lively, fun Instrumentals that sound like they could have been lifted right off a game show or slot machine. For this pitch, you don’t necessarily need to have the latest samples or virtual instruments on your tracks. Having some quirky melodies with some (retro) synth sounds could actually work in your favor for this request! It really just boils down to this: They’re looking for very simple, catchy Dance Instrumental music!

Your submissions should be about 2-4 minutes long, give or take. Non-Faded endings will work best for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form.
Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

HIGH-ENERGY, EXTREME SPORTS-Style ROCK INSTRUMENTALS are needed by the CEO of a Production Music Library with placements in TV, Film, Commercials, and Trailers. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could stylistically be right up the alley of (but not limited to) these references:

“Tick Tick Boom” by The Hives

    “Champion” by Fall Out Boy

    “The Quitter” by NoFx

Although the references have vocals, this request is for Instrumentals only!
Please submit heart-pumping Rock Instrumentals that will bring added energy and excitement to Major League-type Sports highlight reels and Extreme Sports shows. Your submission should be adrenaline-filled with authentic sounding Rock instrumentation, awesome melodies, and a killer rhythm section. If you can imagine hearing your Instrumental while watching extreme sports, this company wants it, and lots of it!

TAXI TIP: Please avoid using any Instruments that sound stiff or obviously MIDI-driven. The more believable and authentically Rock your performance and production sounds and feels, the better your chances are of landing this request!

All submissions should be between 1.5 and 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-Faded, button/stinger endings are recommended. Do NOT copy the referenced tracks in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

CURRENT-SOUNDING POP/ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Music Library with a solid track record of TV and Film placements. This company ran a lot of listings with TAXI about 10 years ago and placed a bunch of music from our members. They haven’t run a listing with TAXI in a while, so chances are you don’t have any material in their catalog yet, and they pay an Upfront Fee to Composers!

NOTE: We recently ran this request as a TAXI Dispatch Listing (TAXI # D181010RP) but the company didn’t get enough material and asked us to run this request to our full membership list to see if we could find them even more. If you submitted to TAXI # D181010RP, please submit different material this time around!

They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic ballpark of acts like (but not limited to) Imagine Dragons, American Authors, Kodaline, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get a feel for the style and vibe they need:

    “Natural” by Imagine Dragons

“I'm Born To Run” by American Authors

    “Worth It” by Kodaline

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch.
Please submit well crafted Instrumental Cues that have great melodies, captivating drumbeats, and a polished sound. Instrumentation should include Pop/Rock style guitars and a sprinkling of electronic elements. Adding and subtracting layers of instrumentation as your Cue progress will give it some forward momentum and dynamics. Please avoid anything that sounds obviously MIDI-driven or overly quantized.

Your submissions should be 2 minutes long (give or take), with Non-Faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings. Please Do NOT copy the referenced pieces in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This Company pays $50 per Instrumental Cue for an EXCLUSIVE deal in which they get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. When placements generate sync fees over $1,000, additional income will be paid to the composer. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Please send as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Monday, October 22nd, 2018.  TAXI #Y181022PR

TECHNO INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a hot European Music Library that’s expanding their reach and catalog size. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the references they gave us:

"Melodic Techno Phrases" by Engineering Samples RED

"Techno Offense" by Engineering Samples RED

    Crafted Techno Samplepack

Give them Techno Instrumentals that use cutting-edge production techniques. Make sure your Instrumental is current-sounding with plenty of unique and contemporary electronic elements and instruments. Your submission should have infectious beats, strong melodies, and tons of hooks and ear candy sprinkled in. Think of the type of music that would be heard in an underground dance club or an EDM/Dance music festival!

Your submissions should be 2-4 minutes long, give or take. Non-Faded endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Instrumentals you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you'd like online or per CD. DARK AND MOODY ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed for a bunch of $250, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Supervisor placements on a top Digital Media Platform. They’re looking for Down-Tempo Instrumental Cues that would fall within the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

VICE - Dark Matter — The Greatest Mystery of The Universe (From 0:00 - 1:00)

    VICE - Inside Taiwan’s Most Notorious Mafia (From 0:00 - 0:40)

Please submit well crafted, relatively simple Electronic Instrumental Cues that have a dark and moody tone/vibe. The right Cues will be able to propel a scene forward, while remaining somewhat subtle. Be sure any electronic elements you use sound modern and not dated - those vintage 90's synths probably won't work well for this request.  Build your submissions around a central melodic theme and keep it forward-moving by layering electronic elements in and out as your piece progresses.

TAXI Tip: They need a bunch of Cues in this style, and they need them fast, so if you can picture your Cues working in a Vice Documentary (similar to the shows in the references above), don’t be shy about submitting for this opportunity! BTW, this request is NOT for Vice.

THIS LISTING IS ONLY FOR TAXI MEMBERS WHO WILL BE AT THE 2018 ROAD RALLY AND WANT A CHANCE TO HAVE THEIR INSTRUMENTAL PLAYED DURING THE PANEL BELOW. GUESTS CANNOT SUBMIT FOR THIS PANEL, SORRY!

    SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd, 2018 – GRAND BALLROOM

    9:30am – 10:45am:
Instrumental Pitch and Feedback Panel – Panelists Joy Basu (CEO, Lab Hits Music), Jonathan Weiss (Music Supervisor), Michael Kruk (CEO, Platinum Music), Pedro Costa (CEO, InStyle Music), and Tim Hogarth (Reality Show Video Editor) will listen, give feedback, and possibly take some music home! Music played during this panel will be chosen randomly from a playlist generated from a panel-specific TAXI Listing that ran prior to the Rally. Submissions not played during the panel will be screened on a yes/no basis after the Rally, and Forwards will be sent to all the panelists.

Please submit ONE INSTRUMENTAL that you think would be good for placements in TV Shows, Feature Films, Indie Films, or Documentaries. By submitting, you acknowledge and understand that you are not guaranteed that your Instrumental will be played on this panel of Music Licensing Executives and Music Supervisors.

    • Instrumentals submitted will NOT be pre-screened, so every Instrumental submitted has an equal chance of being played on the panel!

    • Instrumentals that do not get played on the panel will be screened by TAXI on a Yes/No Basis about 10 business days after the Rally has ended!

    • You get two chances at having the panelists hear your Instrumental 1) Randomly during the panel, or 2) By getting Forwarded by TAXI’s A&R people after the Rally!

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will call out the name of each person whose music is randomly pulled. If you are not in the ballroom, we will move on to the next person’s music. No exceptions.

The mandate for TAXI’s post panel screeners will be “Forward Instrumentals that you think are really strong and appropriate enough that Music Licensing Companies would want to sign it or Music Supervisors could find it usable in a Film or TV project they are working on."

You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity. Please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any Music Libraries or Catalogs.

Once again, all Instrumentals that do not get played on the panel will be screened on a Yes/No basis - Short Critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on THURSDAY, October 25th, 2018. TAXI #Y181025RI

DRAMATIC, ORCHESTRAL-Based TENSION INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a U.K. Music Library with lots of placements. They’re knee deep in expansion mode and are currently looking for lots of dramatic sounding Tension Instrumentals that would fall in the general stylistic ballpark of these examples:

"Apocalyptic Dawn" by Fired Earth Music

    A Scene from "Takers"

NOTE: These examples above were likely scored to picture and go through different moods, tempos, etc. because of scene changes. For the purpose of this request, you’d be very wise to stick to a singular motif and mood throughout your entire piece so your submission is cohesive from top to bottom. One cue = one feel!

Please submit Instrumentals that use Orchestral Instrumentation to create a sense of drama and tension. Your Instrumentals should be compelling from beginning to end, and able to support high-energy, action-packed scenes. Using a mix of Orchestral and Electronic instruments is totally fine for this request.

TAXI Tip: Please make sure any Virtual Orchestral Instruments or samples you use sound convincing and authentic! The more realistic, the better.

Your submissions should be about 2-4 minutes long, give or take. Non-Faded endings will work best for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

DRAMEDY-Style INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a hot European Music Library that’s expanding their reach and catalog size. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of these examples:

WARNING:  The subject matter in some of the reference videos might require Viewer Discretion.

    “KUWTK” (From 0:29 – 0:50)

    “RHOC” (From 0:00 – 0:26)

    “Little Women: Dallas” (From 2:21 – 2:35)

Send them fun Dramedy Instrumental Cues that could work for silly, funny, or sneaky scenes in Reality TV Shows. Instrumentation that could work for this pitch can include Pizzicato Strings, Marimba, Xylophone, Clarinets, Whistles, etc. Structure your Cue around a central melodic idea, while layering instrumentation in and out as your Cue progresses to add dynamics, keep it moving forward, and to keep your Cue from sounding too repetitive. Simpler is better for this pitch!

TAXI Tip: Tastefully adding an instrument that isn't often heard in this genre could help your music stand out. Stick to something that works well in context, and doesn't make end users say, "OMG!" when they hear it. Try things like a touch of bassoon or maybe a tiny little pinch of mouth hard here or there. Whatever you try, do it sparingly... don't overdo it!

Your submissions should be around 90 seconds long, give or take. Non-Faded, Button/Stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Instrumental you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. SMOOTH JAZZ-Style PUBLIC DOMAIN CHRISTMAS INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a successful and very active Music Licensing Company with a super-impressive list of placements. They’re looking for Instrumentals in All-Tempos that you’d expect to hear on a Jazzy Christmas playlist with (but not limited to) the references below.

    Jingle Bells

    Silent Night

    Deck the Halls

Please submit Instrumentals that have a Jazzy vibe.  Deliver a Christmas sound and style similar to the references mentioned above. Your submissions should have authentic-sounding instrumentation, solid musicianship, and great arrangements. You’d be wise to stick as close to the song’s original melody as possible, so that it’s easily recognized by listeners. Be sure your submissions sound like an authentic Jazz ensemble. Any material that sounds stiff, synthetic, or obviously MIDI-driven will not work for this pitch.

NOTE: Little Christmas-y accents like bells, glockenspiel, or tubular bells could give your submission some added Christmas cheer, but they’re not absolutely necessary. If you do use them, we’ve typically found that it’s best not to overdo them! Easy does it!!

All submissions should be about 2-4 minutes long, give or take. Do not copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as general guide for the overall feel, texture, and tone. Broadcast quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Covers you submit for this pitch aren’t already signed to another catalog or any other libraries.

Note: Although there are no performance royalties due to this being a request for cover versions, you’ll get 50% of the master license fee.

CURRENT SOUNDING POST-ROCK INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Successful, high end Music Library that primarily pitches to Advertising Campaigns.

NOTE: This company has just started running Listings with TAXI, so it’s very unlikely that you’ve got any music in their catalog. We think this is a killer opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build a relationship with this company.

They’re looking for Instrumentals in All Tempos that are in the general stylistic wheelhouse these references they provided to us:

    "KIN" [Full Album] by Mogwai

    “Ratio” by Floating Points

"Helios / Erebus" (Full Album) by God is An Astronaut

Although some of the references have vocals, this request is for Instrumentals only.

Please avoid submitting anything that sounds synthetic, stiff, or obviously MIDI-driven or over-quantized.

Your submissions should be about 2-4 minutes in length, give or take. Non-Faded endings with a natural decay/ring out will work best for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Otherwise, be sure your submissions still have all the essential elements of current Pop music - strong lyrics, catchy melodies, and an unforgettable chorus. Vocally, they would love to hear an approach that has a punchy rhythmic attack in it's delivery.

TAXI Tip: Please avoid sending anything that's too mature for this request. You'd be smart to keep song content on the younger side of the spectrum, but nothing too childish. Avoid sending anything that's dark, depressing, or too sexualized. This artist's fans are mostly female “Tweens.” We're sure he sees them as platonic fans, and nothing more ;-)

Your recording quality needs to be clean, clear, and well balanced so it represents your song well. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018. TAXI #Y181023CA

CHART-WORTHY ELECTRONIC POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label for a MEGASTAR DJ that’s working on his next record. Send them Mid-Tempo Songs that you wouldn’t be surprised to hear on the same playlist as acts like Kygo, Calvin Harris, Shawn Mendes etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references they gave us to get a general idea of the type of songs they want to consider for this artist:

“Stargazing” by Kygo ft. Justin Jesso

“Promises” by Calvin Harris, Sam Smith

“Lost In Japan” by Shawn Mendes & Zedd

Quoting the Source: “Please listen carefully to the references. Songs should fit seamlessly into a playlist with the same songs.”

Please submit well-crafted, emotionally driven songs that have a ton of mainstream appeal, undeniable hooks, and sound like a hit. Your submission should have a fresh rhythmic, melodic, and lyrical approach. Killer vocals and melodies are everything for this request!

NOTE: Having a well-produced demo could help get the DJ excited about re-cutting your song, however, it’s very likely he’ll be contributing, prior to release. You never know… it could turn into a co-production! He’s also open to hearing basic, more stripped-down material as well.

Your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well. CONTEMPORARY INDIE POP SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label for a newly signed, up-and-coming artist. They’re looking for album-worthy, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that could be found on the same playlist as (but not limited to) the following artists our client gave to us:

“lovely” by Billie Eilish Ft. Khalid

“I Feel Like I'm Drowning” by Two Feet

    “Sorry” by Halsey

NOTE: Although some of the references have Male Vocals, only send songs with Female Vocals - and no duetsplease! For this request, study the common sound and common thread that the references share, and use them as a directional guide for the style, vibe, and sonic approach that could work for this artist.

Please submit innovative Indie Pop Songs that are rhythmically creative and have left-of-center melodies that pull the Song a bit outside the typical Top 40 Pop sound. Having well thought out lyrics are important for this request, as they want interesting and innovative concepts. The same goes for your production - show them some unique ideas that don't go so far outside the norm that they're not commercially viable!

Vocally, your performance should be really strong, with a unique quality that will grab the ear of this artist and her label to get them excited about cutting your song.

Your recording quality needs to be clean, clear, and have a well balanced mix so it represents your song well. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD, include lyrics. Please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Please submit Mid-to-Up Tempo Songs in the general wheelhouse of artists like Lauv, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, etc., etc., etc.

NOTE: We recently ran this request as (TAXI #S180813PS), and the producer LOVED what we sent him and asked us to re-run this request again to see if we could find them even more great material. If you submitted to TAXI #S180813PS please submit different material this time around!

“No Tears Left To Cry” By Ariana Grande

CONTEMPORARY R&B SONGS with some AFROBEAT/DANCEHALL influence and Female Vocals are needed for an (up to) $1,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Supervisor placement in a big-budget Feature Film. They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general style and vibe of the following reference we got from the Music Supervisor:

WARNING: The reference may contain graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“Meet Up” by Estelle ft. Maleek Berry

This Music Supervisor is currently looking for a Song that would work well in place of “Meet Up,” which is currently temped in and needs to be replaced.

NOTE: Do NOT copy the reference! They are not looking for a Clone or Sound-Alike, but they would love to find something that has a comparable rhythm, sound, vibe, and sonic approach.

Please submit well-structured R&B songs with a noticeable Afrobeat/Dancehall style and vibe. Your song should have super catchy hooks, an instantly memorable chorus, and a soulfully expressive vocal performance. Having top-notch, contemporary-sounding production will also help you grab this Music Supervisor’s ear!

Quoting The Music Supervisor: "We don't want it to be too clubby-sounding."

This song will likely be used as Background Source Music.  Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands and profanity could give you some edge, but we don’t think they’re an absolute necessity. Please do NOT copy the referenced artist in any way, shape, or form. Use it as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

ORIGINAL, RETRO Sounding SOUL SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for an (up to) $5,000, Direct-to-Production Company/Music Supervisor placement on a HIT TV Show that’s airing on a Major Broadcast Network.

Note: The show’s production company routinely takes 100% of the Publisher’s share of songs that get placed on the show. You’ll keep 100% of the Writer’s share and get the full sync fee (up to $5,000). We think they do this to keep the song from appearing elsewhere, and also to give themselves the control they would likely prefer to have, should they decide to include the song on an album released at a later date, or in syndicated episodes, DVD collections, etc.

They’re looking for authentic sounding, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could fit in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references our client gave us:

“Love and Happiness” by Al Green

“What's Going On” by Marvin Gaye

    "Ain't Nobody" by Aretha Franklin

Please submit original, retro-sounding Songs that have infectious grooves, great melodies, and an obvious, classic Funk/Soul style and sound. Please be sure your vocal performance has plenty of soul, attitude, and a confident delivery.

NOTE: They’re open to hearing both vintage-sounding and recently recorded Songs that sound retro, but please do NOT add sound effects like record scratches, clicks, and pops to give your submissions an old school/vintage feel.

Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands and profanity could give you some edge, but we don’t think they’re an absolute necessity. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed.

The estimated license fee is up to $5,000, depending on the ultimate placement. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor/Production Company placement where the show’s production company will likely get the Publisher’s share and you’ll get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties that would come from your retention of the Writer’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener who was handpicked by the Music Supervisor, and who will be judging based on his "gut"  – Short critiques only.  Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018.  TAXI #Y181106RS

    Rap / Hip Hop

TOP 40-STYLE RAP/HIP-HOP SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a very successful, Non-Exclusive Music Library. They’re searching for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the references below:

    “Lucid Dreams” by Juice WRLD

    “In My Feelings” by Drake

    “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott

Please submit Top 40-Style Hip-Hop/Rap Songs that sound appealing on all levels: rhythmically, melodically, lyrically, and vocally. Make sure your production is polished and current-sounding, with plenty of unique and contemporary instrumentation. Having a polished vocal performance that has as much attitude and swag as the referenced songs will help you stand out for this request.

Lyric themes can vary but should be something that’s currently heard on the Rap/Hip-Hop charts, minus any profanity. Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times and brands will probably work best. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Please avoid any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast quality is needed.

NOTE: This Music Library has recently been working with a few Music Supervisors that tend to land them placements ranging from $2,000-$5,000.

INDIE GARAGE ROCK ARTISTS or BANDS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a well-known Indie Label that’s always on the lookout for great new talent to sign. They’re hunting for killer acts that would appeal to fans of bands/artists like:

    "Wise Up" by RedFaces

"Nervous Young Inhumans" by Car Seat Headrest

    "How Simple" by Hop Along

    “Charity” by Courtney Barnett

(Some of the references have explicit lyrics.  Listener discretion is advised.)

Please submit songs that clearly showcase your authentic Garage Rock sound with gritty, raw musicianship and a vocal signature with an identifiable “Indie” quality. Songs with a retro, trippy, psychedelic vibe and pulsing drums are welcome for this request. You'd be smart to make sure your Songs are rhythmically and melodically engaging, and have an unforgettable chorus that can compete with the best of them in this genre.

NOTE: They’ve asked for THREE songs per submission, so they can see if you’ve got depth in your material. This company has previously signed TAXI members to full record deals!

Your production and recording quality needs to be well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well. You’d be wise to highlight your touring, live shows, fanbase, or impressive sales or streaming figures you may have. If you’re a new artist or band and don’t yet have much of a story or track record yet, but you do have an amazing sound and the songs to back it up, they’d still like to hear you! Please submit three Songs online or per CD, with lyrics, photos, and bio. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. A Wide Variety of CONTEMPORARY ALT-ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for a few $3,000, Direct-to-Music Supervisor, NON-Exclusive placements in an Action Adventure TV Series. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could stylistically fit on a playlist with these references, which we got directly from the Client:

“Gold Rush” by Death Cab for Cutie

“Tighten Up” by The Black Keys

“How Far We’ve Come” by Matchbox Twenty

    “She’s Kerosene” by The Interrupters

“Say Amen (it’s Saturday Night)” by Panic! At The Disco

    "Don't Let Go" by Weezer

"The Last Of The Real Ones" by Fall Out Boy

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “I need songs with great arrangements, well-crafted lyrics, and top-notch performances. These tracks need to feel and sound like the real deal.”

Please submit Songs that fit the general style and vibe of the references above. Your submissions should have great vocal performances, solid melodies, and a compelling chorus. They need stuff that could work well as background source music in a "downtown music club" scene.

Make sure your production sounds like a REAL Rock band with great musicianship. In other words, no robotic-sounding tracks. If it feels real, as opposed to an obviously MIDI-driven, one-man-band studio project, you're on the right track.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be stylistically consistent with the references. These songs will likely be used as Background Source music, so lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands and profanity aren’t an absolute necessity, but it couldn’t hurt!

Do NOT copy the referenced artists/acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed.

The estimated license fee for each these placements is $3,000, depending on the ultimate placement. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD, please include Lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Time permitting; the Music Supervisor himself might be able to screen submissions for this request! Singer / Songwriter

    Return to List of Categories

ACOUSTIC-BASED, SINGER/SONGWRITER-STYLE COVERS with Male, Female, or Duet Vocals are needed by a successful Music Licensing Company with tons of credits in HIT TV Shows!

They are in search of SONGS in:
    • Any Genre
    • Any Tempo
    • From any Era

We’re not giving any references for this request, as we think they might be more limiting than helpful. You are encouraged to use your imagination!

Your acoustic-based, Singer/Songwriter-style covers can be stripped-down versions with just a guitar/vocal or piano/vocal, or you can send fuller productions with more instruments - all the way up to a full band - as long as an acoustic guitar or piano is at the heart of what you create.

Here's an idea! try taking a song that was originally up-tempo and creating a moody, down-tempo version, or the opposite approach! Experiment with different aspects like that, and lean toward styles that would be more on the hip, contemporary side of things, rather than a dated-sounding Singer/Songwriter approach.

Be sure to stay as close to the original lyrics and melody as possible so the root song is recognizable, but produce it in a really cool and different way. Having a compelling vocal performance with a strong, confident delivery could also help your song stand out for this pitch!

TAXI Tip: Covering songs that lyrically lend themselves well to being used in Trailers, TV Promos, and Commercials is probably a smart idea. Spend some time researching on YouTube or Spotify, and you’ll see what we mean. Covering songs that have relatively universal lyrics might be a good idea to give your covers a higher “usability” quotient. That wasn’t mandated by the listing company, but we think it makes sense.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Covers you submit for this pitch aren’t already signed to another catalog or any other libraries. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50.

NOTE: There are no performance royalties for cover versions of songs.

Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - Short Critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Thursday, November 8th, 2018.  TAXI #Y181108AS
