AMERICANA SONGS with some Edginess and Male, Female, or Duet Vocals needed by a very successful, Non-Exclusive Music Library that’s pitching directly to a new Netflix Show. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would fall in the general ballpark of the following references the Music Library gave us:

"Send The Sun" by Nikki Lane

    “Starfire” by Caitlyn Smith

    "Believe" by Amen Dunes

Please submit authentic-sounding Americana Songs with an edgy, almost "outlaw-ish" feel and style. Your song should have solid production and great musicianship. Instrumentation should reflect what’s typically found in the Americana genre (acoustic guitars, etc.), with an overall vibe that would fit on a playlist with the references above. Be sure your vocal is well performed and has lots of attitude and passion!

They didn’t specify any lyric themes; however, if you could imagine hearing your lyric theme fitting in with the references above, then you’re probably in the ballpark. Please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or on CD. Electronic

    Return to List of Categories

MOODY, ELECTRONIC SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by an Indie Record Label that's currently looking for talented new artists to sign and pitch to Film and TV opportunities. Check out these songs the label gave us as references:

“I'll Come Too” by James Blake

    "99" by Elliot Moss

Give them Songs with a haunting, moody vocal performance steeped in a cool-sounding reverb. Your production should have ambient and atmospheric Electronic instrumentation, and some cool ear candy. You’d be wise to steer clear of anything that sounds too mainstream or commercial. Check out the reference Songs - this isn't a Top-40 kind of pitch!

NOTE: Your bio should highlight any touring/live show experience and impressive sales and/or streaming figures you may have. If you’re a new artist or band and don’t have much of a story or track record yet, but you do have an amazing sound and the songs to back it up, they’d still like to hear from you.

Ultimately, the deal will be negotiated between you and the Record Label. Please do not submit songs that are already in other catalogs or signed to any publishing companies, as you could potentially be offered an Exclusive deal. You must own or control your Copyright and Master Recording to pitch for this opportunity.

Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. Please include lyrics, photos, and a bio.  Submitting more than one song to this Listing is a good idea, as it can be a great way to showcase different aspects of your sound. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - Short Critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Monday, February 25th, 2019.  TAXI #Y190225ME

CONTEMPORARY DEEP HOUSE SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for several $200, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements in a very popular TV Series. They’re on a mission to find quite a few Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that fall within the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

“One Kiss” by Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa

“I Made U Do” by Melih Aydogan Ft. Ria

Please send infectious House Songs with a modern, polished sound and slick production values. Your instrumentals should have solid grooves, hooky melodies, and current-sounding Electronic instrumentation. Your strong, confident vocal performance should fit right in with the references above and other acts like them.

TAXI Tip: Your song can be largely instrumental-based, as long as it has a catchy vocal hook that weaves in and out.  Please be sure your overall production sounds contemporary and has the latest and most up-to-date synth sounds and beats.

NOTE: Your Song must have the dance-driven energy that you find in the referenced tracks!

Lyric themes can vary but should be consistent with the genre. Universal lyrics that avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity are preferred (but not absolutely necessary), as they are easier to pitch and place. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

The estimated license fee for this placement is $200, depending on the ultimate placement. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened by a TAXI screener handpicked by the publisher, who will be judging based on his "gut", and who will be writing short yes/no critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019.  TAXI #Y190227DH

    “All Night” by Parov Stelar

    “Dragons” by Caravan Palace

    “Geraldines Routine” by Tape Five

In case you’re unfamiliar with the style of music they need for this request, here’s a link that will help: Electro Swing

Although the references have vocals, this request is for Instrumentals only!

Please submit well-crafted Instrumentals that sound like genuine Electro Swing tracks. It's all about that engaging beat and groove!  While we can’t guarantee this would be the winning combination, if we were composing an Instrumental for this request, we’d start with a four-on-the-floor dance beat playing under some authentic-sounding Swing Jazz instrumentation. Add in some contemporary electronic elements as the cherry on top! Voila! You can thank us later ;)

All submissions should be about two to four minutes long, give or take. Non-Faded endings were not specifically requested, but are always a good idea when pitching to a library. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Also, do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Please submit authentic Indie Pop/Rock Instrumentals that fit within the general vibe of the references above. Instrumentation should reflect the Indie Rock genre, with a rock band template and some electronic elements sprinkled in. ORIGINAL IRISH and CELTIC INSTRUMENTALS and/or CUES are needed by a hot U.K.-based Music Library that’s been signing a lot of TAXI members to keep up with growth caused by increasing demand. They’re eager to find Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

"Coalminer's Set" by The O'Neill Brothers Group

“Lean On” by Major Lazer & DJ Snake ft. MO

“Closer” by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey

“Titanium” by David Guetta ft. Sia

Please submit well-crafted Songs with lots of mainstream appeal. Utilize a solid song structure, engaging lyrics, memorable melodies, and a catchy chorus that pops out and sticks with the listener. Your songs should use fresh, modern Electronic sounds and production techniques, with lots of catchy “ear candy” throughout. Be sure to have a vocal performance that’s in the general ballpark of the vibe and style of the references above.

Lyric Tip: Although they are open to hearing all sorts of different lyrical content, ideally they would love to hear songs that are focused around one of the following themes: Determination / Perseverance / Winning / Overcoming Challenges / Love / Friendship / Heartache / Unity / Time / Memories / Beginnings / Goals / Dreams / Motivation / Support and Encouragement. Positive stuff!

Do not copy the referenced examples in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed.

They offer an EXCLUSIVE deal. You’ll split all upfront sync fees 50/50. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. NEW LISTING --

CURRENT-SOUNDING INDIE POP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for an (up to) $35,000, Direct-to-Ad Agency placement in a series of Online Commercials for a big company.

NOTE: This company is working on a series of spots for its annual campaign. You may see quite a few requests in different genres from this Ad Agency over the course of the next few days!

They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on a playlist with artists like (but not limited to), SHAED, Vampire Weekend, Tove Styrke, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get in the general stylistic range of what they need:

    “Sway” by Tove Styrke

    “Harmony Hall” by Vampire Weekend

    “Trampoline” by SHAED

NOTE: Please submit full-length songs! These Commercials are 30 seconds long, but they do not want you to send 30-second jingles! They want to hear full-length songs, and the Commercial's editor will choose the particular part of the song they want to use.

Please submit commercial-sounding Pop songs that have a cool Indie vibe, and push the creative envelope a bit. Top-notch songwriting, contemporary production, and a super memorable chorus are all elements your song should have if you want to stand out for this request. Having a great vocal performance with some left-of-center melodies could really help you impress this client!

Your song should have positive, emotionally uplifting lyrics. Avoid submitting lyrics that are melancholic, depressing, or sad. The client has also requested that you do NOT include lyrics aboutromanceorromantic love. Lyrics that avoid using references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity will likely be most appealing to this Ad Agency.

Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

NOTE: The sync fee we were quoted is $35,000. However, our experience tells us that the sync fee quoted for this placement is probably based on them licensing a song from a fairly well-known act. We think the sync fee could be lower for an unknown, independent act or for music they’d get from a “library.” It could go higher, but we think it’s better to manage expectations and be conservative.

This is a Direct-to-Ad Agency pitch. You’ll keep 100% ownership of the Copyright and Master Recording, but you won’t be able to license your song for any other Commercials for the duration of the term of the agreement, which will be determined by the Ad Agency and you. You must own or control the Master and Composition rights to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a screener handpicked by the Ad Agency - No full critiques. The screener will be basing his decisions largely on what his gut tells him will work for the commercial, and feedback will be minimal. All Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Thursday, February 28th, 2019.  TAXI #Y190228SP

ORIGINAL, DARK and MOODY POP SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by a successful, high-quality, Production Music Library that pays a nice upfront fee to composers! They’re on the hunt for Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that are in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references we got from the company:

    “Rise Above” by Trella

    "Possibility"by Lykke Li

    “Space Song” by Beach House

Please submit rhythmically and melodically engaging Pop Songs that have a dark and moody undertone to them. Fuse dark, melodic Pop sensibilities with a minimalist, commercially appealing production style to put you in the sweet spot for this request. Don't forget to add a really compelling vocal performance on top!

Taxi Tip: Cool use of reverb and other ethereal textures could also help your submission stick out for this request. A little avant-garde is a good thing, here. Give the references a second listen to hear what we're talking about.

Lyric Tip: Although they are open to hearing all sorts of different lyrical content, they would love to ideally hear songs that are focused around one of the following themes: Determination / Perseverance / Winning / Love / Friendship / Heartache / Unity / Time / Memories / Beginnings / Goals / Dreams / Motivation / Support and Encouragement.

Do not copy the referenced examples in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers a buyout deal. You get paid an upfront fee for your tracks. The Music Library gets 100% EXCLUSIVE ownership of the copyright and master. You’ll keep the writer’s share and get applicable performance royalties directly from your PRO. Because this is an Exclusive deal, please do not submit any material for this pitch that is signed to any other library or publisher! Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. NEW LISTING --

CONTEMPORARY, Avant-Garde R&B SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a super well-connected Publisher that’s pitching directly to the Music Supervisor of a Popular TV Series.

They are currently looking for Songs in All Tempos that generally fit in the stylistic wheelhouse of the references below:

    “Blowback” Galimatias

“On My Mind” by Jorja Smith X Preditah

“Feels Like Summer” by Childish Gambino

NOTE: This Publisher has a high bar and tends to gravitate towards music that sounds more like records rather than material that sounds like it came from a music library. Please submit your best!

Give them well-structured, melodically and lyrically engaging songs that have a cooler, more unique edge than your typical sounding R&B songs. Melding smooth, melodic R&B sensibilities with a sparse avant-garde (yet still accessible) production style could put you right in the sweet spot for this request. Please be sure to have a well-executed vocal performance as well. Imagine the kind of song that you’d hear playing in the dorm room of an eccentric college student as she lights her incense! That’s what this Publisher needs.

TAXI TIP: Please listen carefully to the references. Your submissions for this request should fit seamlessly onto a playlist with these songs.

Lyric themes can vary, but please avoid the use of specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and (especially) profanity. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Also, do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal, with a 3-year reversion. If they don’t get your song used during that term, you can get your rights back. ROCK ARTISTS or BANDS with an AMERICANA/FOLK influence and Male or Female Vocals are needed by the President of a hard-working Independent Record Label that’s eagerly looking for fresh, new talent to sign to its eclectic roster. They’re looking for top-notch Songs in All-Tempos that would appeal to the fans of these references:

“You're The One” by Greta Van Fleet

“White Winter Hymnal” by Fleet Foxes

“My Silver Lining” by First Aid Kit

NOTE: This label is all about timeless and heartfelt music, so please make sure the songs you submit reflect that, if you’d like to be considered by this label.

Please submit original Rock Songs with some obvious Americana and/or Folk influence. Overall, your song should showcase your one of a kind sound and style, with solid musicianship, great melodies, and a memorable chorus. They’ll be looking for something fresh and new that doesn’t sound just like the referenced artists, but would still be appreciated by the same fans.

TAXI Tip: Having a bit of a Classic Rock vibe could gain you some extra points for this request! Don't send music that's totally Classic Rock... that's not what they're looking for!

It is recommended that you submit THREE Songs per submission, so they can see if you’ve got depth and range in your material.

Your production and recording quality needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your composition well. You’d be wise to highlight any touring/live show experience, fanbase, or impressive sales/streaming figures you may have. If you’re a new artist or band and don’t yet have much of a story or track record yet, but you do have an amazing sound and the songs to back it up, they’d still like to hear you!

Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. Please include lyrics, photos, and a bio. All submissions will be screened on a yes/no basis by a TAXI screener, no full critiques. EMOTIONALLY UPLIFTING ALT-POP/ROCK or INDIE/ROCK SONGS with MALE Vocals are needed for an (up to) $35,000, Direct-to-Ad Agency placement in a series of Online Commercials for a big company. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references we got from them:

    "Looking Up" by Safety Suit

"Keep Moving" by The Boxer Rebellion

NOTE: Please submit full-length songs! These ads are 30 seconds long, but they do not want you to send 30-second jingles. They would like to work with complete songs and cherry pick the section they want to use. Typically, that's the chorus, but not always!

TAXI Tip: Having an anthemic chorus that soars with positivity and inspiration could be a plus.

Please send Commercial-friendly Rock songs with an uplifting, positive, and inspiring vibe. Your submissions should have solid melodies and an uplifting chorus coupled with an awesome vocal performance. For this request, we think simple, uncomplicated phrases may work best (especially in the chorus) as opposed to lyrics that are busy, complicated, and potentially distracting.

They didn’t request a specific lyric theme; however, your song should have emotionally uplifting lyrics. Keep it positive! Please avoid submitting anything that’s romantic, melancholy, depressing, or sad. Also, avoiding references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity in your lyrics could help your chances of nailing this request, although that's not a requisite.

Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

The sync fee we were quoted is $35,000; however, our experience tells us that the sync fee quoted for this placement is probably based on them licensing a song from a fairly well-known act or song. We think the sync fee could be somewhat lower for an unknown, independent act or for music they’d get from a “library.” It could go higher, but we think it’s better to manage expectations and be conservative.

This is a Direct-to-Ad Agency pitch. You’ll keep 100% ownership of the Copyright and Master Recording, but you won’t be able to license your song for any other Commercials for the duration of the term of the agreement, which will be determined by the Ad Agency and you. A Wide Range of ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals is needed by a High-Quality Music Licensing Company that has signed and placed a lot of TAXI music over the years. They’re on the hunt for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Songs that would work on a playlist with the following references, which the Music Library provided to us:

    “Pretty Pimpin” by Kurt Vile

"Lonely Boy” by The Black Keys

“Highway Tune” by Greta Van Fleet

    “Believer” by Imagine Dragons

Please submit cool, well-crafted Songs that are in the general style and vibe of the references above. Your submissions should have gritty, rockin' vocal performances, solid melodies, and a compelling chorus. You can incorporate some minimal electronic elements, but your song should be primarily driven by traditional Rock instrumentation.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! This client is not looking for old songs from 1974. Yes, a lot of the rock bands referenced above have a throwback sound reminiscent of the classic Rock eras. However, they're looking for the newer, fresher, more modern version of that sound! Please make sure you're clear about the difference before submitting.

Lyric Tip: Although they are open to hearing a variety of lyrical content, they would love to hear songs that are focused around one of the following themes:
Determination / Perseverance / Winning / Love / Friendship / Heartache / Beginnings / Goals / Dreams / Motivation / Support and Encouragement. They're mostly interested in positive themes, although heartache wouldn't fall under that category ;-)

GRUNGY INDIE ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for several $4,000, NON-Exclusive Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements in a Dramatic Adventure Horror Series.

The Music Supervisor is looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that are in the ballpark of artists like (but not limited to) The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references (we got directly from the Music Supervisor) to get in the general stylistic wheelhouse of what he’s looking for:

“Icky Thump” by The White Stripes

“Don’t Sit Down Cause I Move Your Chair” by Arctic Monkeys

"Lonely Boy" by the Black Keys

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “Nothing synthetic, or obviously MIDI-based, please. These tracks need to feel like the real deal!"

Give them authentic-sounding Indie Rock songs that have a dramatic, moody Indie vibe, with a touch of a Grunge influence. Having well-crafted melodies and a super strong chorus will help your submission get the attention of this Music Supervisor. Your vocals should have a similar texture, tone, and attitude/quality as the referenced artists.

NOTE: The bar will be high for this request! The more authentic and believable your overall performance feels (sounds), the better your chances are of landing this pitch! This Music Supervisor wants music that "sounds better than what he’d normally get from the music libraries."

Lyric themes can vary but should be stylistically in the ballpark of the references and other songs you might find on a playlist with them. Lyrics that avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity are preferred, but not required. Do NOT copy the referenced bands or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, tone and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Note: Broadcast Quality in the context of the "INDIE" genres often means that your music can sound a little bit “lo-fi” and shouldn’t be too slick or over-produced.

The estimated license fee for each these placements is $4,000, depending on the ultimate placement. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD; please include Lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Time permitting, the Music Supervisor himself might be able to screen submissions for this request! No promises, but we’re hoping!! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Tuesday, March 5th, 2019.  TAXI #Y190305GI

SOULFUL INDIE SINGER/SONGWRITER ARTISTS or BANDS with Male Vocals are needed by an Indie Record Label that's currently looking for talented new artists to sign and pitch to Film and TV opportunities. They’re looking for current-sounding Songs in All Tempos that would appeal to the fans of (but not limited to) great artists/acts like:

“Don't Bother Callin” by Moses Sumney

“I Don't Know” by Nick Hakim

Please submit Top–Notch Songs with captivating melodies, solid song-structure, and a soulfully expressive vocal performance. Instrumentation can vary for this pitch, but it should be predominantly organic driven and loosely in the style of the references mentioned.

TAXI Tip: Note the Soulful quality in the references! Keeping your submissions in that vein will increase your chances of getting Forwarded.

Look Who's Listening: This label is smart! They know they ultimately want to pitch what they sign to TV and Film opps, so they've hired a Music Supervisor to screen this material at TAXI. Brilliant!

Submitting more than one song to this Listing is a good idea, as it can be a great way to show that you have some depth, and you're more than a one-hit wonder ;-) All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - Short Critiques only. “Welcome To The Jungle” by Guns N' Roses

Please send them old Vintage Masters of original (no covers) Rock Songs that were recorded in the 1980s. Your submissions should have a sound, vibe, and style that take your listeners back to the 1980s Rock. Strong, tight vocal and instrumental performances are necessary components of this pitch – aim to impress!

NOTE: The Supervisor is interested in finding music that sounds authentic to the time period. They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, and only if sound quality is reasonably good. ORIGINAL DISCO SONGS – RECORDED IN THE 1980s or before – with Male or Female Vocals are needed by an A-List Music Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing. If you’ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with the references or anything that would have been on a playlist with those acts, you might have exactly what this awesome publisher needs:

    “Dance Dance” by Chic

    “Love Hangover” by Diana Ross

    "Car Wash" by Rose Royce

You can submit old masters or old demos for this pitch. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings. They’re much more interested in finding music that sounds authentic to the time period.

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and Feature Films when they need music that comes from a specific time period.
The Publisher pays you upfront for the master rights and the Publisher’s share of the copyright, and you keep the Writer’s Share of the publishing and earn income from performance royalties paid by your Performing Rights Organization.

This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buyout deals with this company. Several have even received upfront checks for $10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary, depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

Make sure your Songs were actually recorded in the 1980s or before; otherwise, this company cannot use them! They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, and only as long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market!

Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your Songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Please submit as many Songs as you’d online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short Critiques only.
