2-3		Digital Music Forum West Los Angeles, California www.digitalmusicforum.com For the past eight years, some of the most influential leaders in the music business have gathered at this forum to share ideas concerning the state of digital music. This year, some of the topics will include: Global Music Marketing, Beyond Downloads, Mobile Music, Top Digital Music Trends, Evolution of the Live Music Business, and a discussion about the Digital Copyright. A little "heady" but always valuable information.
8-10		PopKomm Berlin, Germany www.popkomm.de With more than 880 exhibitors from 57 countries, PopKomm is truly an international creative and business conference for the future. There are plenty of panels, workshops, and lively discussions with an international focus. Live music can be heard at more than 30 local Berlin clubs. The Innovation in Music and Entertainment Award will be presented to businesses that have displayed new and creative business ideas during the year. Always eventful.
12-14		International Entertainment Buyers Conference Nashville, Tennessee www.ieba.org Founded in 1970 as a non-profit trade organization for talent buyers, entertainment professionals, and concert promoters, IEBA's goals are to provide an education and an opportunity to network for its members as well as to further the development of the live music entertainment industry. Five-hundred talent buyers, promoters, managers, media, and producers attend yearly to take a first look at the hottest emerging talent in the country. Some of the topics to be discussed include marketing your shows, mastering the sponsorship game, making offers and negotiating contracts, and routing an effective tour. Great stuff for pros and artists alike.
16-19		Western Canadian Music Awards Winnepeg, Canada www.wcmw.ca The yearly WCMA brings together industry pros from around the world to discuss issues relating to the future of the business of music. The primary focus is to provide opportunities for nurturing business relationships between Canadian music professionals. However, there's plenty of music to be heard. The host hotel this year is the Coast Edmonton Plaza in Downtown Edmonton, Alberta.
