Saturday and Sunday, October 9-10, 2004
9:30 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m.
UCLA Dodd Hall

Seats are filling up fast for the Ultimate Lyric Workshop at UCLA!

If you've ever wondered if your lyrics were "up to snuff," come on down to the "Ultimate Lyric Workshop" at UCLA on October 9th and 10th. It's going to be two full days of consonant crunching, theme thrashing, and melody mashing. Bring a hammer, nails, lyric sheets, and a song that you're working on. (Just kidding about the hammer and nails part, folks!) We're going to shred your song on Saturday, give you LOTS of painful homework and soul-searching, and then straighten you out on Sunday. Includes free lollipop. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Back by popular demand, the "Ultimate Lyric Workshop" features the legendary Pat Pattison. He's written many books on lyric writing, and he's quite famous at Berklee College of Music for creating the only songwriting major in the country.

Pat Pattison is a Professor of Lyric Writing and Poetry at Berklee College of Music, where he developed the curriculum for the only songwriting major in the country. In addition to his three online lyric writing Courses for Berklee, Pat has written three books, WritingBetter Lyrics, (Writer's Digest Books), Managing Lyric Structure and RhymingTechniques and Strategies (Hal Leonard), He has published over 40 articles for Home & Studio Recording Magazine, The Performing Songwriter, and the LASS Musepaper. Pat's students include Gillian Welch, John Mayer, Train, Kami Lyle and many others. He continues to present songwriting clinics across the US Canada and the UK.

From TAXI CEO, Michael Laskow:

I've personally gone to (and been a panelist at) this event every year since its inception, and give it two thumbs up. It's small and intimate. It's held in a beautiful part of Colorado (what part of that state isn't ;-) It's a great place to meet industry A&R peeps, Publishing Peeps, and some top notch songwriters. And if that's not enough, at the end of the weekend, Kenny Loggins, Leroy Parnell, Tia Sillers, Mark Selby, Jeffrey Steele, Al Anderson, and Lisa Loeb are scheduled to perform. The Expo is actually being held in Telluride this year, so it sounds more exciting than ever. I hope to see you there.
