NEW LISTING -- COMPELLING, ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label for a Chart-Topping SUPERSTAR that has sold over 25 million records worldwide. They're currently on the hunt for great songs in All Tempos that could be heard on the same playlist as artists like (but not limited to) Michael Buble, Coldplay, John Mayer, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the references below to get an idea of the sound and style that could work for this pitch:

"Haven't Met You Yet" by Michael Buble: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AJmKkU5POA

    "Yellow" by Coldplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKNxeF4KMsY

    "Gravity" by John Mayer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VBex8zbDRs

Please submit commercially appealing, well-structured songs that have inviting melodies, and a big, radio-ready chorus. This artist has an incredible vocal range, so you'd be wise to have a top-notch vocal performance on your song to help get him/them excited about cutting it. Having a well-produced track could also put you ahead of the pack. However, stripped-down Piano/Vocal demos will work for this pitch if it effectively gets your song's message across!

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017. TAXI #S170207AC

    Americana

    Return to List of Categories

NEW LISTING -- AMERICANA and AMERICANA-influenced SONGS with Male, Female, or Duet Vocals are needed for several Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor, (up to) $1,500 placements in an Emmy Award winning, Primetime TV Series on a Major Broadcast Network. They’re looking for authentic Americana Songs in All-Tempos that could be heard on a playlist with these references the client gave us:

“Stubborn Love” by The Lumineers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJWk_KNbDHo

“Are You Alright?” by Lucinda Williams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E8_utQlJbo

“I Had Me A Girl” by The Civil Wars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1qY8EB4JlQ

Give them well-crafted, roots-y Songs that have a rural, backwoods-y Americana vibe and sound. Your submission should have engaging melodies, tight harmonies (if performed as a duet) and a simple but memorable chorus that emotionally connects with listeners. Your song can be as simple as a well-played acoustic guitar with vocal, or it can have a more current sound with a fuller ensemble. Make sure your vocal performance is confident, intimate, and as compelling as the reference artists mention above.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something that’s in the range of what you’d typically hear in an Americana song. Please avoid brand names and profanity in your lyrics. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

The estimated license fee for this is $1,500. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You need to own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017. TAXI #Y170124AS

    Blues

NEW LISTING -- DRIVING, BLUES-INSPIRED ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a great new, NON-Exclusive Music Library that’s been launched by a highly experienced Film and TV Music veteran! They’re on the hunt for original, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Blues-inspired Rock Songs in the stylistic ballpark of the tunes referenced below:

Audi A4 Allroad: “Sunday Drive”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtRHaEDZp04

Audi 2013 Big Game Commercial - "Prom": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmA17T76fqs

Tacoma to the Summit | Tacoma | Toyota: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9JfK4UtkNw

Note: This company needs songs to feed to an Ad Agency that produces a lot of TV Commercials for a leading automotive brand. They’ve got a relationship and presumably, an inside track!

TAXI Tip: As you’ll see, one of the references has no vocal. You’d be really smart to have a mix minus vocal on hand, as the Music Library could ask for that if they love your song!

Your submission should be well-crafted and have a solid Blues-Rock influence with plenty of grit, grease and attitude. Make sure your song has catchy guitar riffs, an engaging melody overall, and of course, a compelling chorus. Sounding like a real band will get you a gold star! Your vocal performance should have some swagger and sound like it’s a good match for this style of Rock. You’d be wise to avoid overly ambitious guitar solos or anything that’s too frenetic, as it might conflict with the dialogue or voiceover.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you’d typically hear in the Blues Rock genre. Nothing depressing though! Stick to themes that sound like they’d work in a TV commercial. If you could imagine hearing it in the examples above, then you’re probably good to go. Please avoid references to specific brands, places, dates, times, names, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share of what they place. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" by Luca Sestak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esn8pESKwSE

This awesome label is open to hearing Blues artists in all styles and sub genres: Chicago Blues, Blues Rock, Delta Blues, etc. Solo Acoustic Blues artists or Electric Blues guitar slingers could work. Piano-based artists or bands, Blues vocalists, male female or duets could also work for this pitch as well. Make sure your submission has excellent musicianship, with confident, memorable vocals that has a genuine Blues style delivery. They're mainly interested in artists and bands that are actively working on their careers, so please include any touring, fan base, sales, streaming, or impressive social media figures you have in your bio. If you're a young artist or band, and don't yet have much of a story or track record, but you do have an amazing sound and songs to back it up, they'd still like to hear you!

Please submit three original songs, with lyrics, photos, and bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Sunday, January 29th, 2017. TAXI #S170129BA

INDIE FOLK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for a $1,500, Direct-to-Music Supervisor, NON-Exclusive placement in a new Sci-Fi Series done by the same producers as the hit TV show, Mr. Robot. They’re looking for compelling Indie Folk Songs in Any Tempo that could be found on a playlist with artists like (but not limited to) Stu Larsen, Tiny Ruins with Bic Runga, Meadowlark, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to references to get in the stylistic ballpark of what they need:

“Thirteen Sad Farewells” by Stu Larsen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yxqemxihsU

“Hurtling Through'” by Tiny Ruins with Bic Runga: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGZMJhFBmn4

    “I've Got You” Meadowlark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9k_4R8GPQo

Quoting The Source: “Songs should be Earthy with a great depth of emotion and an authentic eclectic Indie Vibe.”

Please submit well-crafted songs that are lyrically and melodically engaging, and have an authentic “Indie-style” vocal performance. Songs with typical Folk structure and production that’s primarily acoustic-based should work best. Simple is better! The song will likely not be the star of the scene, so much as helping to set the mood! Something as simple as a guitar/vocal could work for this, as long as it’s done well! A small ensemble could work for this as well. Group harmonies, foot stomps, and handclaps could all potentially fit nicely for this request.

Lyric themes can vary, but should be consistent with themes you’d typically hear in the Indie Folk genre. Lyrics that don’t mention specific names, places, dates, times, brands, or profanity will be appreciated. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Genre appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). In other words, organic recordings that don’t sound too slick or over-produced are likely the best way to go.

The estimated license fee for this use is $1,500. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor pitch. You'll get 100% of the sync fee, and 100% of any applicable performance royalties. Plus, you'll also keep 100% of your Publishing and Master ownership. You need to own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit 1-3 Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener who was hand-picked by the Music Supervisor - No full critiques. NEW LISTING -- COMPELLING COVER SONGS with an INDIE ROCK approach and Male and/or Female Vocals are needed by a BIG Music Licensing Company that has tons placements in TV and Films. They're looking for compelling Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that you'd expect to find on a playlist with covers like (but not limited to) the references below:

"Stand By Me" by Ki:Theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_MwX1hlMls

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by The Gallows Trailer Song:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-nkRX4FQEc

"Dear God (XTC Cover)" by Lawless feat. Sydney Wayser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEbFzKMcGls

"Heart Shaped Box (Nirvana Cover)" by Lana Del Rey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZIliIa5_bY

"Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Cover)" by LORDE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaVA6sgOpws

Please submit edgy Cover Songs that have a haunting, moody vibe and a vocal performance that's well-suited for the types of Covers that get used quite often in Film Trailers these days. Your productions can range from stripped-down versions that might only be a guitar/vocal, piano/vocal, ukulele/vocal, or a band-sized ensemble, or a full orchestral version. Any acoustic instruments you use should sound real and organic, not synth-y or obviously quantized. Sticking to the song's original melody and lyrics is the best way to go. If you stray too far away from the original melody or lyric, your cover may not be as appealing. Using a different tempo is totally okay! We've heard killer versions of songs that used to be fast, Punk songs that were slowed way down and covered on ukulele, and they were super moody and incredibly cool!

Your songs should be full-length, in the 3 to 4 minute ballpark. Good edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, with a 50/50 split on applicable sync fees. You must own or control your Master recording (only). Don't forget, they are ONLY looking for Covers Songs. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. NEW LISTING -- MAINSTREAM SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS with a Pop/Top 40 influences and Male, Female, or Both Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label A&R Executive for a Duo whose star is quickly rising. We recently ran this opportunity as TAXI Listing #Y170120SS, and the A&R Exec wants to hear more material because they still haven't found what they need! If you made a submission to TAXI Listing #Y170120SS, please send different material this time around. This Duo's last single got 250,000 streams in its first week, and has since had over a million streams worldwide. Please submit Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be heard on the same playlist as (but not limited to) songs like these:

"Marvin Gaye" Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igNVdlXhKcI

    "Mercy" by Shawn Mendes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkGVmN68ByU

    "Feels" by Kiiara: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6US7RN74D0k

TAXI Tip: The Singer/Songwriter genre in today's market isn't often like the strummy, Singer/Songwriter style of past decades.

Today's acts are more likely to release songs with innovative rhythmic patterns, cool synth/keyboard sounds, modern melodies, emotion-driven lyrics, and a vocal delivery that is best demonstrated by listening to the range of what's going on in the references.Lush reverbs and smooth synth pads are a good idea if you're going to pitch a fully produced song. You can also pitch keyboard/vocal or guitar/vocal demos, but the style of those stripped-down versions still has to reflect the modern aesthetic, not the James Taylor era!Infectious melodies with instantly memorable hooks, solid song-structure, and a huge chorus that smacks them in the face, will help convince them your song needs to be on their record. Plenty of contrast between the verses and the chorus is your ticket to the short list for this request.

TAXI Tip 2: This Duo has gone a little left of center in the past. The label is trying to find a happy medium between innovative and mainstream for this record, so let that be your guide!

Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Label and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Friday, February 10th, 2017. TAXI #S170210MS

    CUSTOM CRITIQUES
If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you've come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write "CUSTOM" in capital letters.

Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address.

For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can't recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.

The submission fee is $20 per song. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you want the CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and therefore will not be forwarded.
